Hammond gets the ball and hasn't got a clue what to do with it. Nugent is not a "number 10" that can create for other players, he does the job against teams who have more of the ball because he runs them ragged. Horses for courses and we didn't pick the right 11 for this game.

AKCJ Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Exactly. Nugent is a deep striker and therefore responsible for linking the play...he does nothing. He was our top scorer last season and looked very handy in the first half. You're talking out of the hole in your bum mate.

You cannot blame his lack of goalscoring because 'he plays a deeper linking role' and then criticize the side for knocking it long when Nugent isn't doing his 'linking' job.
