SK1 were embarrassing today. Dreadful.

It's basically 10-15 scruffy looking kids, with a couple of flags designed on Microsoft Word. How they can be comparing themselves to Ultras or trying to act that way is embarrassing.

L1 were superb as always from what I could see throughout.

lol lol lol lol

Thanks for that.

Said to the Union FS lads, imho SK1 were trying to sing 'new' songs the rest of SK dont know. Hence they dont join in. Further along the kop there was another singing group, at various stages they were singing a mainstream song while sk1 were doing their eurovision auditions. No disrespect to James and the lads, it was just an off day on and off the pitch. Was much better at Palace last week, but you'd expect that. Oh, and I was awful again today, I am the Dean Hammond of sk1.

"Eurovision auditions".  lol

Sorry fella but it's not like we're not trying to scan what's going on elsewhere along the Kop and L1 etc so we're singing the same songs. It's not like some of the "new" songs haven't taken off either. Plenty were singing them at away games, pubs, concourses etc.

UFS have literally never tried to tag themselves as Ultras. You've expected a block full of people, many of whom have never met, to have the same mentality in a month as a group like Union Bears, who have been going for years, have now. Quite frankly your expectations are fvcking ridiculous. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Pretty much sums up SK1 yesterday.

If you can take the praise for the good atmosphere at the other home games then take the criticism when it's shocking. Yesterday UFS/ SK1 could have been defined as 10-15 scruffy kids who were doing their eurovison auditions who were truly embarrassing.

Union FS have deliberately tried not to brand themselves as Ultras, so it's not a fact at all that "they compare themselves to ultras". Are you willing to establish your own ultras group at the ground and design some more 'professional' flags?

I'd hazard a guess and say no.

Not sure what was up with SK1 yesterday, we arrived around 2:30 to hear nothing but silence...where was the singing to encourage the players during warm up?

Not sure who is behind UFS but seems to be fizzling out a little. Seemed like at the back end of last season and pre season things were picking up and they had some great ideas but the novelty has worn off, very reminiscent of the Fosse Boys.

The main problem( same with the Fosse Boys) is that those sitting central in UFS seem to think they are the dogs bollox and each game that goes on their ego and self importance grows, a couple examples of this were displayed yesterday.

That awful DD chant, it was more cringe than singing right side/left side. There must have been 8-10 people singing one song that sounded pathetic, rather than think "this isn't taking off lads" instead we will continue it...which in turn got the response from me and many others of shit song.

This was later echoed by the awful LSF chant which I can only liken to sounding like a pack of ******.

Iwan was a welshman...got sang more often than songs for our current squad, doesn't get joined in with as half the fans up there were not even born when Iwan played for us. Same applies with Molly Malone and tiptoe through, fans simply do not know them! Alright for us older folk who grew up at Filbo but for the modern fan these do not work.

Nigel Pearson chants have not taken off all season, why is there so little vocal support for our manager?

Also seems like no song can begin without a slow hand clap.

Unfortunately we will see this type of atmosphere more often this season as people only turn up for the bigger games. I await the response of if the songs are shit try something yourself, well people did try to do this several times but as we know if a chant is not started by UFS then it doesn't get given a chance.

Was in sk1 yesterday. There's too many groups. They need to group up together so we have one singing section. The little area I was in felt loud but the union fs guys couldn't hear us so didn't join in and it all broke down. Guys to the left of me all stood. Guys to the right all sat. Says it all really. Too much of a mix. Of course they're entitled to do what they want. They pay their money.

Spot on mate. There were times we had to literally look over to you guys to keep in time with you. It's tricky, we can't move closer because we worked hard to make sure we could get tickets together, time to forget yesterday and move on.

Unfortunately every comment I made is fact.

So no argument to be had.

Not fact at all. If you met some of these 'kids', you would be amazed at what they do workwise. They are mainly a highly intelligent bunch of young men - Gaz, Emma and myself excepted - who enjoy a good day out. Here's a fact for you.... know what? Can't be bothered.

Not comparing them to the Union Bears at all, because that'll never happen. Leicester supporters will never match that, for the simple fact that football up there is life or death, we've got blokes and families in SK1 that don't even like you having your arms in the air.

Do you honestly expect people to just 'gel' over time because if you do without making an effort you are deluded.

Nail on the head, too many getting all offended because yesterdays display from SK1 was horrendous.

Whats the point starting an Ultras group when the Union FS are trying the same thing?

Ive offered help and support from the beginning with this, and without a doubt id be willing to help out, been doing the same with Union Bears for several years. Helped with card displays, two sticks and painted banners for away days.

More than willing to help.

Couldn't agree more. They will get all defensive and bite to this comment but from an outsiders point of view, this couldn't be any truer.

I took somebody different to the game with me yesterday and he pointed a couple out and said "who the **** do them few think they are?!" thats not the atmosphere you want to create.

Left side right side is quality.

It felt like an anti-climax game today and the fans around me were dreadful in the 'kop'... I'm always cheering my team on but it's like most other fans couldn't be arsed because it was Burnley!

Really poor today and it must rub off onto the players

Pop down to the S&R pre-match then mate. We're always open to new ideas and suggestions.

None of the lads who set this up are the egotists being claimed, as anyone who's actually met us will hopefully vouch for.

At the end of the day, the more people who know each other in the section the better it's going to be.

Just been on social tab on here, seeing as I don't use/despise Twitter, seen Konch's tweet "Absolutely gutted wiv that result!! Feels like a loss but it's a point gained! Onto the next one! Fans great again"

Stop with the BS Konch. Can't argue with the rest but the fans (Me included, I was there) were as poor as the team and performance, however, unfortunately we as fans cannot change that performance and put the ball in the back of the net/keep it out of our net, as players they can.

Also saw Knocky's tweet "Gutted with the result we deserved a better result :( .. But happy to be back in the team ! Get ready now for the next one"

No Anthony, we didn't at all. Take a proper look at the performance again, I think you'll see a draw was the right result/if not slightly lucky given how we played.

Of course SK1 has had better days, but let's not put the blame entirely on them. Just imagine if the whole of KOP was singing all at once the atmosphere it would create. Maybe even the East Stand... The best grounds is when you have everyone singing at once... I love it when away teams go anyway and say how loud we were, I would love for us fans to get a great reputation of being loud.

SK1 were embarrassing today. Dreadful.

L1 were superb as always from what I could see throughout.

Again, the 'kids' point really doesn't stack up. Such a blatant case of making a cheap, throwaway comment without anything at all to support it. As for the few youngsters that are in & around the area, don't really see how their age is a fault?! It's not really something any of us can do much about. On a personal level I'd be pleased to see kids joining in with the songs and taking an active role in supporting the team.

On the ultras point, it's fair to say that Union FS take inspiration from the passion many ultras groups have for their teams but this does not in any way mean the group are trying to compare themselves to ultras. It's just about getting behind the team. Don't understand what's embarrassing about that.

Couldn't agree more. They will get all defensive and bite to this comment but from an outsiders point of view, this couldn't be any truer.

I took somebody different to the game with me yesterday and he pointed a couple out and said "who the **** do them few think they are?!" thats not the atmosphere you want to create.

I don't agree with this either but you're the second poster that's made an observation along these lines today so it needs addressing by the group. You're spot on in saying that's not the atmosphere we want to create. All I can say is, from knowing the lads personally, they're a sound bunch and not at all self important.

I'd be interested to know who it was your mate was on about. I might be one of them for all I know. On the other had, these people might not even have any involvement with the group whatsoever. The thing is, we're selling out game after game. There are people in SK1 who are involved in the group and people who aren't. Union FS doesn't control who buys tickets. Some people who rock up will be c*nts. It's the same in any part of the ground and in all walks of life for that matter.

Okay guys lets take away SK1 and not sing at all and see how worse the atmosphere gets then? Blimey they had one not so good game! Seriously, why on earth are you criticising people that are actually trying to create an atmosphere? Union FS have done a fantastic job over the year and I for one am very thankful of them.

I sit in the east stand next to SK1 and it's so frustrating when SK1 start a song, and it's starts getting louder, and then most of the kop start clapping instead of singing and gradually clap faster until it's like a drumroll and completely drowns the song out!!

What were Burnley actually singing when they kept the same song going for ages?

We are Bur-nley?

'we are the lonsgside, burnley'

whatever that means.

Baffling

remove the drum, get a few people at the bottom of L/K to orchestrate the chants, Palace do it at home. Works well.

But Palace have a drum, and everyone loves them. All you could hear last weekend was the drum, even when the whole Holmesdale end was joining in.

We have said on a number of occasions that we do not wish to get involved in debates online because they can very quickly descend into a slanging match and these are often conversations that are easier to have in person.

Having said that, there are a few comments in this thread (and the separate Union FS thread) that we should probably address. Some comments, particularly some of those from Cornetto-Fox, are welcomed as they are clearly constructive and offer some advice on how we can improve going forward.

However, the questioning of the group’s character, and laughably dress-sense, is unnecessary and entirely unfounded. The example cited for the group’s ‘self-importance’ was the continued efforts to sing the ‘he doesn’t drink lager’ Drinkwater chant which clearly wasn’t universally appreciated. In the same way that we cannot force people to sing, we cannot always control what others want to sing and those close enough to us yesterday would’ve noticed it was not only the ‘core’ group persisting with it. It would be far more egotistical of the group to dismiss others who make the effort to start songs. If someone begins a chant and we hear it, we’ll back them. Unless it’s blatantly racist like the Kenwyne Jones abomination.

That said, we’ll take on the feedback and move on.

The comment about there being too many groups is of course a very good point and is probably the biggest issue. Unfortunately with the consistent sell outs, we are unable to act on this as we would hope. Might take a few years to make progress on that.

Finally, we wish to make clear that we’ve never sought praise for the atmosphere in the first three games, and have consistently praised L1 and the remainder of the stadium for creating such great noise in the Everton, Arsenal and Manchester United games. Of course we thank those who believed we had something to do with it but yesterday was the first real test with us not being underdogs. It’s fair to say it wasn’t an overwhelming success but as a relatively small group we are relying on those around us to join in throughout.

As always we appreciate any constructive comments on how we can improve so please do continue to give us feedback on here, or pop to the pub and chat us through what you would do differently. Our doors are open as plenty on here will testify!

I think the Burnley fans were fantastic today, especially second half at 2-1. Really inspired their team on to a very deserved point.

On the other hand, we were very subdued. Before kick off was quiet, and was quiet throughout. Never really got behind the players and made the atmosphere nervous for them in the second half.

Always likely tobe the quietest match as only one of the season where we arent underdogs.
