lol

The BBC made him spout that lie about Farage blaming the disabled then?

If he hadn't started telling untruths to try and attack someone he wouldn't be in a position to be undermined would he?

Your line of discussion would be taken more seriously if you stay in context. You're more slippery than a barrel load of eels Matt!

I seriously doubt there would be much difference. If you can't be bothered to vote for a party why would you go to the polling station to vote for nobody?

Exactly. Often I think it's just laziness described as apathy.

Agreed, maybe if people could vote via facebook or an app on their phone we would get a huge turnout.  Or maybe get some x Factor loser performing at polling stations to draw in the masses.

It's true though isn't it? The so called plant didn't have a pre prepared question to ask for Dimbleby to go to him to any normal hatchet job would. (I.e Griffin show)

He reacted to Brand's lies about Farage. If that hatchet job was there to react to something that was said on the spot the bloke is a genius.

That better not ever happen. I think postal voting should be outlawed let alone something as open to corruption as voting over phones or computers.

If you could vote via facebook we'd have a parliament infested with X factor and Britain's got talent rejects oh and Russell Brand would walk it.

I do the postal vote. Partly through apathy and partly at the last election I worked during polling time. 3pm-3am Thursdays.

Anyway where I am it is a safe Labour area.(Jon Ashworth)  I cannot see a huge swing towards UKIP or Tory given the ethnic populace.

Polls are open from 7am until 10pm.

Though I'd have put good money on you being a postal voter.

Did you post it yourself or give it to the Labour activist to post it?

Don't knock postal voting, everyone has the right to cast their vote even if they can't make it to the polling station. I used to do it when I lived in Spain.

I would like to see people being able to vote electronically, in this wonderful age of unprecedented levels of communication and interaction one of the most important decisions to be made is still done in an archaic way.

Pretty much every other aspect of life is embracing the digital age why not voting? I can guarantee it would increase turnout and as long as it was secure and safe it should be implemented.

If we end up voting in Brand, then that is who we deserve, that is democracy and we can't complain about the outcome just because we don't like it.

How do you know whose voting if they don't have to turn up in person?

To be fair Spain doesn't have areas like Tower Hamlets or Perry Barr where the postal voting is riddled with corruption allegations every election we have.

Bollocks to the digital stuff, democracy is far too important to be at the mercy of that monster.

Maybe you could be sent a code to enter but then it would be just as easy to post the vote back.

How is your identity checked at the polling station? Don't you just turn up with a card?

You could twist your family's arms to get their vote, you could threaten/bribe your neighbours for theirs . Once you're in the booth nobody knows who you've voted for. Too easy to fix.

It would end up like Tower Hamlets in places, two groups of 'people' banging on doors demanding envelopes and whoever collects the most wins the election.

I hope not either, I was just being a little facetious as to what floats the yoof of today's boat.

We have devices with finger print scanners, voice recognition software, face recognition software, devices can be registered to users and users assigned unique ids. You could also scan your passport like they do at airports.

It really shouldn't be that difficult and would probably more secure than postal voting or turning up at a school where some volunteer checks your voting form, they don't even check your i.d. any irregularities and your vote isn't processed and you have to go the polling station but really it shouldn't be beyond our capabilities. Imagine the time it would save not having to hand count every ballot.

I would say democracy is too important to be allowed to continue in this old fashioned way.

And where would all this equipment be?

And where would all this equipment be?

On your mobile device, all of them have microphones for voice recognition and cameras for face recognition and scanning a passport or ID card, recent iPhones have finger print scanners. The software already exists and could be easily adapted.

Any of the above could be used without any need for sophisticated equipment along with more traditional means of identification.

They are all fairly easy to subvert if you have enough reason, moving elections to a digital platform would be a serious threat to our already tenuous democracy

I bet webbos doesn't. I'm against it captain, although it can confirm its you, I have my doubts it can confirm you were in a safe environment and made the decision of your own free will.

Do you really think people will be held at gun point to vote? It is more likely that someone will sell their vote.

If you allow digital voting you could make it safer, you could cancel your vote if submitted under duress, you can also vote from your own home so you can't be targeted and harassed on the way to the polling station. Unless the person forcing you, one person, to vote by staying in your house overnight and with you until polling opens then I can't see how this can be a valid concern.

The concern would be if they can secure it so it can't be hacked or manipulated externally. If that can be achieved then I would like to see it happen.

No I don't think gun point, but then I wouldnt rule it out. Who knows that's the point.
