EnderbyFox Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Christ, Brand is very efficient at highlighting problems that everyone is already aware of using fancy words, offers literally fvck all in terms of solution however..
lavrentis Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 blue hair needs to be kicked out the studio
Guest MattP Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Hahaha that blue haired woman in the audience
lavrentis Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Wonder how many times "Immigration is a good thing to the country but" has been said on Question Time
EnderbyFox Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 This is more like a Jeremy Kyle audience than Question Time
EnderbyFox Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Brand gone very quiet now since that audience member challenged him..
Guest MattP Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Brand gone very quiet now since that audience member challenged him.. Very sheepish, he wasn't expecting that. Not used to speaking in public where the audience's support isn't already paid for.
Webbo Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Russel brand has just spoke for a minute and said **** all.
Guest MattP Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Fair play to the disabled guy in the audience who pulled up Brand when he tried to accuse Farage of blaming the disabled. He didn't expect that.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 He's such a reprehensible cockroach
Guest MattP Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 The woman who kept shouting 'racist' not stop etc is a woman named Bunny La Roche. Socialist Workers Party/UAF/Hopenotsoap member and head of the newly formed 'Thanet Stand Up To UKIP' group - probably not a good idea when you are hoping to get some local support to threaten someone in TV and then end up having even a BBC audience applauding when you are called the 'rudest woman someone has ever met' http://www.kentonline.co.uk/thanet/news/thanet-stand-up-to-ukip-21736/ If you want to download the 'Hate stirring, Stomach turning, Thatcher loving, flag waving homobphobic Nast little Nigel' banner then click here http://internationalsocialistnetwork.org/index.php/campaigns/328-nasty-little-nigel-gets-a-rude-welcome-to-kent As you can see, they look a real force.
Alf Bentley Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 I'm resorting to match ratings: Camilla the Journalist 8.5/10 Seriously well-informed & thoughtful Penny the Tory 8/10 There are still civilised, thoughtful "one nation" types on the Right - did she join the wrong party by mistake?! Mary the Labourite 7/10 Solidly competent Nigel the Kipper 7/10 Credible, did himself no harm there, unfortunately; going for Labour voters on NHS Russel the Raver 2/10 Rude ranting to shallow sloganeering to rabbit in headlights (don't think he knew what a grammar school was!); major embarrassment Referee (TweedleDimbleby) 5/10 Lost control a bit Crowd: Mostly 7/10, a few 4/10 & 0/10 for blue-hair woman (was that the Mum of the bloke who shouted at Pearson?!?)
Guest MattP Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 What a bloody good idea Alf. Camilla Cav 9/10 - Already a huge fan as I read her in the Sunday Times every week, as always concise and well informed, never speaks over anyone and answers the question - WOTM. Penny the Modern Tory 6/10 - Didn't think she said too much, one of the better females I've seen in from the Tory party though, problem is any real Tory looks at her next to Farage and the tick goes in the UKIP box. Mary the Modern Labourite - 6/10 - Did OK without making much of an impression, like the above they seem to be a bit morose at the minute, bad time to be a politician of the main two parties knowing coalition is the best you can hope for. Nasty 'pound shop Powell' Nigel - 7/10 - Thought it was a fairly easy night for him, made a convincing argument about UKIP and the NHS for the first time I thought, grammar schools argument might not be as big a vote winner as he thinks. Amazed he wasn't picked up on his example of Australia having a high turnout in elections (they have compulsory voting!) shows a lack of knowledge from the rest of the panel if it wasn't deliberate. Russell 'pound shop Bono' Brand - 3/10 - Got his usual huge round of applause for the obvious opening gambit about the elite/bankers/city boys/rich etc - after he's used that up though has nothing else to say, he looked very confused when the NHS privatisation conversation was ongoing, don't think he got it. Did what a lot of lefties do now when attacking UKIP, got so wound up in it shouting about who they supposedly hate and ended up blurting out a disgraceful lie about Farage attacking the disabled which he was rightly pulled up on, never recovered from being attacked by a person he assumed would be eating out of his hand. Referee Dumbleby 3/10 - His worst performance since the Nick Griffin farce, struggled to maintain control and didn't ask too many questions of anyone in response. Crowd: 4/10 - It was like Jeremy Kyle at times, chaos - very strange they all moaned about Punch and Judy politics - the same people who have given up there Thursday night to watch Farage and Brand go at it. BBC: 1/10 - How did they let 'Bunny La Roche' in? They must have known who she was, I'm not having that she was picked out at random, backfired though if they were hoping for it to make Nigel look bad.
Carl the Llama Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 LET ME HAVE A GO: Crouching Blondey Hidden Journalist: 9/10 WOTM - Like a silent ninja she kept hidden throughout all the bickering, emerging at opportune moments to lay down deadly shuriken fire in the form of calmly spoken and considered responses. Russell Bland: 1/10 - A solitary point earned for his one sensible pre-rehearsed argument. His obvious lack of substance becomes ever more glaring, even the most ardent lefty has difficulties siding with the obnoxious moron. Labour of Love: 6/10 - Kept forgetting she was there. Toed the line throughout. Good party politician. Conservative Cock-lover: 6.5/10 - Well spoken with some good statistics to pull out at times, woefully inept and hideously transparent at others. Pound Shop Enoch: 8/10 MOTM - Infuriatingly easy to agree with at times, this charismatic fellow is clearly enjoying his time in the spotlight. For all disagreements with his policies, it can't be argued that he doesn't know how to handle a debate. Let himself down with the occasional obligatory smirk of derision. I still think he's a cvnt.
Strokes Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 loving the ratings guys, I missed this last night as I wasn't too well. I'm looking forward to watching it now
Alf Bentley Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 I think even Barton was better than Brand. True. Forgot to mention: Farage did some magnificent gurning - truly put Andy King in the shade!
David Guiza Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 Just caught up from last night - Brand really did look like a lost child in an adult conversation. But, the fact he is even getting as far as QT says a great deal about the state of UK Politics. Yes he is very much one trick pony regarding big banks and business, but what he says is factual to a large extent - why are these matters being put to one side and shadowed by immigaration debate. As he says himself, he is a comedian come activist, nothing more. Are we really in that much of a state that Clarke Carlisle, Joey Barton and Russell Brand are now worthwhile voices for political debate?
Bellend Sebastian Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 I've always enjoyed Russell Brand as a comedian (he's certainly leagues ahead of any other comic called Russell), and considered him to be a bright bloke compared to most folk in the world of entertainment. I'm intrigued as to how he's found himself in the position he's in - the argument that society faces problems beyond immigration and poor people is hardly a radical one, but the fact that he gets an audience at all would suggest to me that it's striking a chord somewhere and that he's saying it better than other folk that say the same thing including those actually in politics. He's clearly out of his depth, but I think his heart is in the right place and it's quite sweet really. People keep saying he doesn't have the answers, but I don't think he's saying he has and as you cannot vote for him anyway, does it matter? Are people upset that he's questioning the Status Quo (I have many times, I liked Pictures of Matchstick Men but it was all downhill from there) - I don't see that as particularly threatening, but a lot of effort seems to be going in to undermining him if he's that ridiculous. I didn't understand the Sun's recent hatchet job on him - it was so piss poor I thought they must have really wanted to go for him to publish something so clumsy, but why? Does Murdoch fear a Brand led workers' revolution with readers of The Sun at its core? Hey, stop that hairy bloke with the thin legs going on about bankers and elites! These aren't the droids you're looking for etc As my mum used to say, don't be a silly sausage
Guest MattP Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 I'm losing the will to live. The barrel is being scraped. Watching the Daily Politics now and we are with a protest group outside parliament protesting about the new pornography laws, an actual quite was "I'm here with Charlotte Rose, who was voted sex worker of the year in 2013".
Darkon84 Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 After only catching portions last night, I've finally watched the whole thing through, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Brand, as mentioned by numerous others was so out of his depth, I thought he was going to cry at one point . His face and stuttering when he was told he should stand were hilarious....." oh yea, but no mate, look ere ya see, I can says all these words and stuffs and point fingers but I aint no real brain and don't wanna do no shit wiv them people cos I might be one"....Yea alright Russell, back to your expensive flat in London to make a Youtube video now, bye bye. Farage deflected any rubbish thrown at him with such ease, he could have done it in his sleep, and I had to agree with the majority of what he said. I was seriously impressed with The Times journalist (Camilla Cavendish is it?). When she first started talking, my initial reaction to her nasally tone was 'oh great, here we go', but her points were balanced, valid and put across incredibly well

I would say that using the term 'scraping the barrel', in association with that, is probably insulting to barrels. Sex worker of the year 2013 Priceless!

These aren't the droids you're looking for etc As my mum used to say, don't be a silly sausage The problem is we all know what's wrong, we don't need a man who has swallowed a thesauras to tell us we need change in our political system. It's something we all recognise, Brand's problem to me seems to be the fact he can't take the fact that the political change he actually wants is far more likely to be delivered by a man he hates in Nigel Farage than himself. Like all of these modern revolutionaries though he's all well and good when he's telling us what he wants to knock down, the problem comes when we want an answer to what he wants to build up. Then he's clueless. I have no idea about the Sun as I don't read it but I doubt they are capable of any sort of decent hatchet job, for a man whose heart is supposed to be in the right place he doesn't half come across like a cnut sometimes, from taking a homeless person around an ideal homes show for entertainment purposes to ringing up defenceless pensioners to brag about shagging their grandaughter. As I've mentioned previously though, he lost any respect he had from me last night when he decided to start shouting untrue accusations about people to the nation, a shocking way to behave, unfortunately a trait that is almost now being exclusively used by people of his ilk, even the Labour party seem to have managed to finally get beyond the 'but, bu, but Nigel's a racist!' pisspoor argument.
