Mike Oxlong Posted 27 January 2015 Posted 27 January 2015 This is from the Daily Mail and the sort of thing that puts me off politicians. How anyone can say they are not out of touch with the ordinary working man is beyond me. A Story about Lord Rees Mogg. He even has a nanny who he took electioneering with him.And he has a couple of servants to hold books behind his head to shield him from the sun. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2922162/Let-drink-bubbly-Lords-highest-quality-champagne-Parliament-privilege-peerage-says-Tory-MP.html To be fair I'm thinking about hiring an au pair to look after me and turn the bed down
Mike Oxlong Posted 27 January 2015 Posted 27 January 2015 Full Natalie Bennett interview here, starts on about 4.30. Pretty incredible stuff on most things, with regards to economic competence you could be forgiven for thinking it's a pisstake sketch show of politics. It's quite scary a leader can know so little about their own party. She's got a face made for dungarees.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 January 2015 Posted 27 January 2015 Yep, it's a system for two party politics. Outdated. Unfortunately the hoardes of left wingers who used to crow about the merits of Proportional representation have now vanished from our society since it became obvious it would lead to a UKIP-Tory coalition instead of a Lib Dem-Labour one. Spot on,

Pretty incredible stuff on most things, with regards to economic competence you could be forgiven for thinking it's a pisstake sketch show of politics. It's quite scary a leader can know so little about their own party. That's just plain embarrassing. The ideas aren't terrible ones but their execution of it is moronic. I don't mind politicians not being super slick, but that's just a car crash in every respect.
Saxondale Posted 27 January 2015 Posted 27 January 2015 It's lucky for us that the Greens will never amount to anything more than a very minor fringe party. Their eco-friendly, anti-nuclear sentiment is all very cuddly and nice (if you like that sort of thing). The rest of their manifesto appears to have been cobbled together hurriedly by some badly educated interns as a project.

Jesus Ken, this is just as bad as someone calling anyone on benefits scroungers.
Voll Blau Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 More parachutes... http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Conservatives-choose-councillor-fight-Stephen/story-25933827-detail/story.html
Rincewind Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 Generalising much? Jesus Ken, this is just as bad as someone calling anyone on benefits scroungers. OK there are some good MP's.Jon Ashworth does a lot of good in the community. And not just at election timewhich is why he will probably get my vote. He has one of the best attendance records at the HOP.
Guest MattP Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 Jacob Rees Mogg is a fine MP Ken, a real rebel who often votes against his own party if he does agree with what they do. Man of principle and Eurosceptic, we need far more people like him in parliament. Just because he's posh, has a nanny and speaks in received pronunciation doesn't make him a bad person. And why shouldn't the Lords have champagne? They sell it for a profit and that helps pay for the catering, surely that's better than charging the taxpayer even more?
Ross-Kemp Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 Labour talking to Sinn Fein. Milliband really would do anything to get into power wouldn't he. Scum.
Guest MattP Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 That cannot be true surely? No political party could seriously want to buddy up with the IRA to achieve power?
Buce Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 Labour talking to Sinn Fein. Milliband really would do anything to get into power wouldn't he. Scum. It was talking to Sinn Fein that ended the 'Troubles'.
Rincewind Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 More of a case of anything to keep the Tories out which is not so bad.
Voll Blau Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 More of a case of anything to keep the Tories out which is not so bad. Not sure if you're on the wind-up Ken but if what's being said is true about Sinn Fein then it's only going to drive more core Labour voters into the hands of UKIP.
ADK Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 I hope our close election doesn't reignite trouble in Northern Ireland.
Guest MattP Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 It was talking to Sinn Fein that ended the 'Troubles'. Well it was a bit more than that but you can't seriously be suggesting we should consider having people who have blown up our citizens en masses in our government?
johnny the fox Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 Prime ministers question time is an insult to us all..name calling and abuse..pathetic.. what an example to set to young people... no wonder this country has gone down the tubes if this is the best we can come up with...
Guest MattP Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 More of a case of anything to keep the Tories out which is not so bad. Sinn Fein or a Conservative government Ken?
Ross-Kemp Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 Sinn Fein or a Conservative government Ken?I'm looking forward to this response.
SMX11 Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 Labour talking to Sinn Fein. Milliband really would do anything to get into power wouldn't he. Scum. Blair was the one that surrendered to them so it doesn't suprise me one bit. It is clear that there is not going to be an outright winner.
Buce Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 Well it was a bit more than that but you can't seriously be suggesting we should consider having people who have blown up our citizens en masses in our government? It wouldn't be to my taste, no. But since the story of 'secret talks' is a Sun exclusive, it can be taken with a sack of salt; quite clearly the Murdoch press are going to make this the most smear-laden campaign ever. If anyone deserves the epithet 'scum', it's Murdoch. http://m.independent.ie/irish-news/politics/burton-rules-out-any-labour-link-with-sinn-feinira-in-coalition-30341113.html
Ross-Kemp Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 However, Junior Health Minister Alex White, who is also running for the leadership, said he "abhors" Sinn Fein's policies but would not rule out a coalition with the party as an "article of faith".
Robin JD Popley Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 I know I'll be in the minority but I'm a Liberal; all I've seemed to hear for the last five years is fees this, fees that (none more so when I was at Uni and god I was so angry at Nick for what he did more than most!) However, I'd be happy if we even retain half our seats. Think overall though this could be a proper mish-mash election but also may improve the argument for a new voting system that allows for widespread views as UKIP and the Greens will clearly be the big winners in the vote share this time round but probably won't get the seat comparison to show for it. I think the best worst case scenario possible is another 5 years under Cameron (sorry Labour people) because Milliband is useless!
