red5 Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 What we need to do is start a few more strikers, drop dd and deano and bring in wood and knocky, just watch them goals flow.
kingfox Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 What I didn't get before the season started were fans saying, we are better than at least eight teams in this division already, quite frankly we are not. Teams like Crystal Palace, West Brom, QPR, Aston Villa, Sunderland, Newcastle maybe average teams but in terms of quality they have just as much quality as us, if not more. Yes ideally these are the games we will have to pick up points from, but before the start of the season some fans were going on like we would comfortably beat those types of teams, the teams I've mentioned though do have some quality players, and not just quality players, international quality players, something we & Burnley in particular lack. You can start to see already which players are capable of making the step up, Morgan, Mahrez, King & Vardy from our squad last season in particular have looked capable so far, all of which apart from Vardy play for their national sides. Come players who haven't had international experience, haven't played top flight football yet or have but struggled in the past, are already showing signs of not being able to cope with Premier League football. Those being De Laet, Drinkwater & Nugent in particular. It's going to be way more difficult than some fans ever imagined, just because we stormed the Championship it doesn't make us a comfortable mid table side, Premier League is a whole different ball game.
shailen Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 We started the season well, and bar the Swansea game every game has been an even contest. Palace - we were the better team until they scored and dominated. Burnley - really should have won this game and shouldn't have conceded stupid free kicks. Newcastle - very even game, unlucky to lose. The thing is we are creating chances and that is encouraging. We just aren't finishing them off like we were earlier on on the season.

We've only had one game where we've been picked apart in this division. It should be remembered that the games we've lost (and one we drew) have been close.
Wilson_6 Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Honestly the majority of our fans are morons. So deluded. Talk about sing when your winning. We are in the premier league we were always going to lose more than we were going to win. finishing 17th is massive win for Leicester this season. People need to get a grip. Swansea hadn't won for 5 games before the weekend and they have been up there for a good while now.

Guest MattP Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 People don't seriously believe a 30k wage cap is in place do they after the signing of Cambiasso? I can't believe the meltdown this place has gone into, you would think we were 20th by scanning the main forum. The target for me is the same as it was before the season started, keep ourselves within touching distance of safety before April and then take advantage of what looks a very nice run in.
Dan Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 I still think we're well capable of beating relegation fairly comfortably. That's what makes me so concerned. I'm not even saying it's been a bad 9 games by any means - but there's naturally going to be disappointment when you have such an impressive first 5 games coupled with a really, really awful 6-9, going into game 10. If we can get back to playing the kind of football we've proven we're capable of playing then we will be absolutely fine. I don't believe we're a Championship standard side. I honestly think we'd have stayed up last season in the Premier League. Maybe I'm just deluded. I've not seen anything from the bottom teams in the Premier League this year that looks any better than we did last year.

Think this is spot on. It's certainly not a lack of ability as we showed in early games we are well capable of competing with the better sides. It's about positivity, attitude and desire. The fans also need to play a role in this with a bit of effort, from what a lot have said we were as poor off the pitch as on it Sat, which is strange for a Saturday night kick off.

It's all about how much faith you have in us rediscovering that form. It's hard to tell at the minute. I think we'll do it eventually but not necessarily this weekend. There's been some downright bizarre tinkering from Pearson recently. The fans aren't what they were either. No-one seemed remotely bothered on Saturday. All that way there for a TV game to just stand/sit in silence.
Long Eaton Fox Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 We need to start playing to our strengths and that means the team that played so well last season. That 11 has not played together so far and in the right formation, 442. KP RDL LM WM PK AK DD DJ RM DN JV

Langley Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 I have a gripe with the OP and those who said Premiership. It's been the Premier League for the last 10+ years. And before anyone says that it doesn't matter it's like calling the Premier League Division One or the Championship Division One too. Please. It's the Premier League.
Guest MattP Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Anyone remember how Doug Ellis used to pronounce Premiership? Pree-me-er-ship. It was very annoying.

I dread us going a goal down. Think the crowd could seriously turn against the side and possibly the manager.
iamafox Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 We've earned our place in the Premier League, no question about it. But did anyone expect it was going to be this easy at the start of the season? Maybe some of you did. We're not going to play well all the time, we're not going to win as many games as we did last season. But I think we have enough ability in the squad to stay up. The first few matches proved that imo. Only bad performances have let us down in the last 4 games, we know we can play better. To say that we're a Championship side playing in a higher league is absolutely ridiculous.
foxinsocks Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 When you move up then all aspects of the operation have to step up. For me, I have three worries (1) the side is not settled (last season we knew what are best starting 11 was); (2) we have to be more tactically astute - Nige is a good leader for us but even he needs some help from someone with tactical know how for the prem... we always struggled when we came up against astute managers - there are more of them in the prem; and (3) we need more ways of scoring. Leo has bought a new dimension but we need more routes to goal. As far at the team is concerned - Kasper isn't imposing enough for the big guys in his six yard box - the first against Burnley should have been his ball when they knocked it down - but he got ready for the shot. I would give Hamer an run... this would make it clear to kasper that he has to sort this out. I would drop Nugent (I like him... but) he just won't score in open play in the prem and so I'd start Vardy and Leo in a 442. I would stick with Schlupp and Mahrez on the wings and start with drinky and cambiasso in the middle. We have to stop taking the ball to the byline and put in earlier diagonal balls; we have to learn to score by passing and running through from the middle - these are goal options we don't have.... yet. The wingers have to comeback and help the wingbacks. It's not a panic - but let's admin what we have to do... and do it - the teams that go straight down are the ones that don't adapt.
