Are they good enough?

Are Nigel Pearson and David Nugent good enough or is the Championship all they can cut it in.

I think we should sack Pearson if he doesn't win tomorrow and we should get a young striker with lots of potential in January.

We don't need a young striker with potential we need players who are ready to play now. We need a couple of defenders, we need a creative force in midfield and we need someone who can be relied on to score goals regularly.

No other players, just Nugent? Why does he get singled out? He did last year and he is this year even when he's not playing.

I think Nugent must've kicked his cat or something.

I Think the side last season would have survived. I think this side is simply not good enough.

I reckon in any decent sort of form last season we would have tore that QPR side to pieces.

But in nige we trust

So the man who got us out the third division and out of the second division and into the promise land .. gets a third of a season in the top flight..shameful..

Lloyd Dyer did the same, where was his loyalty?

Oh, 30+ get one year deals.. Wait, Wes Morgan got three?

No place for loyalty in this business, the question as always with players and staff is, are they good enough? I don't think Pearson is and it's hard for you to argue he is at the moment..

Needed all these in the summer and the person being paid a million a year didn't really address this.not sure how long he has if we don't win soon.

I pity your mentality..

I agree with the masses I'm afraid, it's not just nugent that isn't good enough.

And regards the Pearson bit, he was to trusting in his belief in his squad, if he had better quality players he could make the grade I think, but he may be having regrets about the summer window now.

Disappointment even now creeps into me when I see Jeff Schlupp starting left wing instead of our Lloyd.

Confidence is a funny thing. When we are playing well everyone's a future England star. Few poor results and we question their quality. We have got quality in the squad, enough to stay up imo. But we are in bad form, but once we get over that hurdle things will improve

I don't actually know what a "Premier League manager" is. Honest. And I don't know after five months at this level for the very first time how you can be classed as not good enough.

When David Moyes first took over at Everton they struggled, in fact, they finished 17th when we were relegated in 18th place in 2003/04. And how long did it take Ferguson to win something at Manchester United? I take it they are both now classed as "Premier League managers".

Perhaps Nigel Pearson is still learning, like many managers before him, just like anybody in any job that has just got a promotion. I have been questioning Nigel's tactics, selections and substitutions recently but this is a new role, at a new level, and having taken this club from the third tier to this position (on and off the field lets remember) I think earns him more than five months.

I don't believe the team or the manager are good enough, and that was pretty obvious in the close season, when Pearson just didn't bring in the right players, with regard to Premiership survival. I did hope that we would succeed in surviving, and pray that we do, but the signs of that happening, are not good. The manner of our defeats are deplorable, and unless this scenario changes dramatically, we are in real trouble.

We don't seem to have learnt anything, thus far, which again is pretty damn naive.

we have made some progress (better starting 11) - but there is still a lot to do if Nigel is going to turn it round - he is where he is and he must show improvement in performance (tactics, organisation, substitutions, set peices) with this squad.

That's actually quite an interesting fact you know.

I just hope Pearson is given the season to keep us up. Pearson has faith in the team and I believe the team are still behind him - as long as this continues to be the case I am sure we can turn things round with (on the whole) the same squad and current management in place.
