Both tonight, and against sunderland, he has the bottle to take the game by the scruff of its neck and try to make something happen. If he gives it away, he just tried twice as hard to win it back, and twice as hard to make sure the next pass is a success. He was by far and away the best player on the pitch against sunderland, and tonight, i wouldn't be surprised to see Rogers keeping an eye on him, because his all round game was far better than that of Henderson, Gerrard and Lucas tonight. An underrated young lad, who we will struggle to keep hold of whether we get relegated or finish mid-table..... Nige ain't got a clue though eh?

He's so much better than he's shown this season, as is Drinkwater. Was really hoping the pair of them would adapt with a little more ease than they have done.

lcfcbobby Posted 3 December 2014 Posted 3 December 2014 james was good in open play but his set pieces were dreadful the amount of times he didn't beat the first man was unreal but I agree we will struggle to keep hold of him well compared to liverpools midfield he was great lucas that cant tackle and sterling that kept diving

Too many wasted opportunities. Every corner kick seemed to be the same.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 3 December 2014 Posted 3 December 2014 I like James a lot, agree he needs to practise set pieces a lot more and also he needs to learn how to whack a ball as when he gets a decent shooting opportunity he seems to side foot it straight at the keeper.

There's no chance in hell that Rogers or any manager of a team who aspires to do well in the Premier League would be looking at James. As with all of our squad from last year (so far) he has proved not to be of Premier League quality.

He always tries to go forward, runs with the ball and retains possession well. It's just typical unhelpful drivel from City fans to pick out the negatives such as set pieces and his finishing, MJ was the best CM on the pitch last night.

It's just that his attitude doesn't lead to any tangible positive results - ie, he doesn't score goals, he doesn't create goals, and he's part of a midfield that seemingly doesn't defensively track opposition players. But yes, his attitude is admirable.

He's flat out busting his ring for the cause and his drive and determination should be an example to others. Imo yesterday was one of his least productive games with distribution, but then it was him and Cambi against three internationals in the middle. Watching him over the last two seasons however, anyone should know he's one of the players who can play at this level

I agree he is no goal scorer, but he is trying to take the game to the opposition and make things happen. For me last night was the exception with dead ball situations, not the rule.

Should Nigel get the sack? No Is Matty James, Cambiasso Schlupp etc playing really well and deserve to be picked out for praise? Not really we're bottom of the premier league. Relatively they're not playing well enough at this level. Are Kasper and Morgan absolute clowns that should be dropped? No, anyone with an ounce of common sense realises that they're not world class players and will be prone (like all of our players) to mess up considerably at times this season. I remember when we won the championship and this place was buzzing (quite rightly) and I posted "even though it's a great achievement to win the league, we were one of the favourites to win it, so I'm not quite sure why people are saying this is one of the greatest days of their life" the post was deleted straight away. I think this sums it up though, some people are completely blinded by their emotion and don't really look into the facts. Liverpool were odds on to beat us last night when we were 3/1. It shouldn't be a big surprise.
