paulsherwood1 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Brilliant. If we hadn't gone up last season but were near the top end of the Champ would you want him out? No, of course not. Amd since when do we have a right to be in the prem?. We have the right to be there because we won the league. Surely you want us to stay there?
paulsherwood1 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 How is the amount of points connected to our status within the Football League? Who says "Pearson is supposed to be a Premier League manager"? What defines a "Premier League manager" in your eyes - somebody who coaches at the highest level? What are your criteria? We are indeed a Premier League side for now, the task is to remain one (depending on what time frame is realistic to you personally). The three years with Pearson in the Championship mean nothing to you? How ungrateful can one be? It's the reason we come so far, isn't it! Why should I be grateful when we are propping up the table with 10 points? This is not about Pearson personally. This is about a manager who is out of his depth.
inckley fox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 You clearly don't go to games do you.. Lay of the champ manager for a bit. Why sign players in the championship if they are not good enough for the prem hahahahaha It's not such a silly point. He said on more than one occasion that he was 'safeguarding' the long-term future of the club by signing younger, up-and-coming professionals. Bearing in mind our stated aim, again and again, was to get into the PL and stay there, I'd say he was identifying players whom he thought would be good enough upon promotion.
BigMicky Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 emotional hurt or wanting him to get sacked? Taking pleasure in the sacking of a man you don't want sacked?
MC Prussian Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 You've misquoted me. I said 'not good enough, AND not by a massive margin'. And that is precisely why he's doing such a terrible job at the moment. I have no idea how you measure how good a manager is at his job if you do not think to judge him on his results. And I refuse to believe for one moment that Pearson's task this season was anything other than to keep us in this division. To employ a manager to 'have a good stab at it, but don't panic too much if we go down' would surely be off the scale in terms of its lack of ambition. Even Blackpool made a better fist of it than that. Why I don't judge him by the results? Because I know results aren't solely the consequence of the manager's wrongdoing. That's overly simplistic. There's many more elements that lead up to it or cumulate in failure. You may believe what you want to, but if the owners had been totally savvy of keeping us up at all costs this season, they'd have surely opened the transfer kitty for real and also appointed a more experienced PL manager in the summer. Yeah, Blackpool amassed 39 points in 38 games in 2010/2011. And look where they are now.
paulsherwood1 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Love your loyalty, its an admirable trait Thanks. I've followed the team home and away for 30 years. Glad you admire that. I've stood on a terrace at brighton in the pleat years with 50 other hardy souls, seen us smashed at Newcastle many times. I care about the club, not a manager who did so well last season, but is clearly not capable in this league.

You may have followed for all those years; you are still clueless.

I remember you spouting that rubbish in the 2012/2013 season - you said he wasnt good enough for the Championship. I argued with you on Twitter about it.
MC Prussian Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 . We have the right to be there because we won the league. Surely you want us to stay there? We have the right to compete in this division for one season for now because we got promoted. We have no automatic right to stay in this division (if that's what you're indicating), unless we get the points needed to guarantee safety, e.g. both fight for it and make sure we're the better side in as many games as possible.
paulsherwood1 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I remember you spouting that rubbish in the 2012/2013 season - you said he wasnt good enough for the Championship. I argued with you on Twitter about it. Maybe ! And do you know what, he got it right. But we don't have 3 years to get it right this season.
Neil_LCFC Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Why I don't judge him by the results? Because I know results aren't solely the consequence of the manager's wrongdoing. tickler28 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Mark W and MC Prussian are the biggest Nigel Pearson fans in the world...probably posters on walls, mugs, place mats with his face on them. I'm a Leicester City fan (100%) and when Pearson goes which he will eventually I will still support Leicester City. Pay for a counsellor for the bloke I don't care just sack him please so we can have a glimmer of hope. What makes anyone think IF we get promoted next season (big IF) that he'd get another shot in the Premier League....based on that what motivation would he even have to get us promoted...he is NOT a Leicester City fan
paulsherwood1 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Wahhoooo its the return of super fan!!! You may have followed for all those years; you are still clueless. Intelligent reply mate. I'm no super fan, but I do care about my team.
BigMicky Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Maybe ! And do you know what, he got it right. But we don't have 3 years to get it right this season. So enlighten us, what would another manager have done differently today to ensure a win?
Dickov22 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Maybe ! And do you know what, he got it right. But we don't have 3 years to get it right this season. I agree - I can't really defend him much anymore. Don't know if any other manager would still be in a job after 2 points from 39. Its been a disgraceful season to be honest. However, you've never liked him. I bet last season killed you!
Webbo Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 There's nothing wrong with wanting to keep Pearson but some of the ridiculous excuses and definitions in here and the petty name calling is childish. We're 1 result off the worse run in PL history, the worse ever. Please respect those who don't think the status quo is working.
MC Prussian Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Why should I be grateful when we are propping up the table with 10 points? This is not about Pearson personally. This is about a manager who is out of his depth. Given his previous Premier League track record before the season started, that should've come or should come as no surprise to any Leicester fan.
BigMicky Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Intelligent reply mate. I'm no super fan, but I do care about my team. I'm not your mate. I care too, but you are spouting headline grabbing rubbish. Was it Pearson's fault we conceded in the 1st minute today? How about a shoddy wall? What were hua faults today??
paulsherwood1 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I agree - I can't really defend him much anymore. Don't know if any other manager would still be in a job after 2 points from 39. Its been a disgraceful season to be honest. However, you've never liked him. I bet last season killed you! ! I ate a lot of humble pie. I don't care about him personally, I just want a manager to succeed
inckley fox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Izzet once said, about Taylor, that 'it just didn't work out for him, no matter how hard he tried'. That, in the simplest possible terms, is what has happened so far for Pearson as a top flight manager. It doesn't mean he won't improve, though at times his interviews give the impression that he has no intention of improving. But there is absolutely no point in trying to claim that he's done a good job at this level. In the Championship he did do a good job, though there are other managers out there who would have achieved promotion with one of the best-funded squads in the division, given three stabs at the job. Maybe even Sven could have pulled it off with an extra couple of years. But if our ambition is for a quick return, and a long-term future in the top flight, then he's going to have to make strides as a manager over the rest of this season, or leave. I can understand why people might disagree with me and say he should leave now, or have left weeks ago. I can understand people saying we should give him the rest of this season to learn and progress as a manager. But I can't get my head round this unconditional support for him that some have - surely his future at the club has to depend on him getting better than he is now, no? Unless there are people out there who want a lot less for this club than I do.
MC Prussian Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 So our ambition is to be better than Blackpool nice one. Yeah, because that's exactly what I said, isn't it?
paulsherwood1 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I'm not your mate. I care too, but you are spouting headline grabbing rubbish. Was it Pearson's fault we conceded in the 1st minute today? How about a shoddy wall? What were hua faults today?? Wow! Is it his fault his team have 3 out of 39 points? Maybe not in your world? Will you be happy with relegation? Can this man do no wrong in your eyes?
AyewJoking Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Taking pleasure in the sacking of a man you don't want sacked? I only dont want him sacked because we'd probably be worse off risking a new man breaking up the foundations Pearson has put in place. 2 points from 39 in the Premier League deserves the sack in normal circumstances but his work in prior years and the fact sacking him may not save us are keeping him in the job. I dont know if you are genuinely confused by my comments or taking the píss.
The Doctor Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 There's nothing wrong with wanting to keep Pearson but some of the ridiculous excuses and definitions in here and the petty name calling is childish. We're 1 result off the worse run in PL history, the worse ever. Please respect those who don't think the status quo is working. No we aren't. Derby had a 15 spell between 7th October and 19th January where they drew 2 and lost 13.
Corky Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Didn't Sunderland lose 15 matches in a row or something in 2003?
