Mark_w Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 And then if we went down and didn't look like coming back up? I ignored the question because I'd already answered it in this thread minutes before you asked and I'm getting six of answering it to be honest. Especially as you've already seen the answer before. Well it took him one extra year in the Championship, what makes you think he can't get us up again and handle things better next time? Or that he can't fix things in January? I think he deserves at the very least the full season. As I've said before, I'd start to question if we're outside the top six of the Championship at the end of next season. You can see why I'm getting a bit frustrated I'm sure.
The Doctor Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 You can see why I'm getting a bit frustrated I'm sure. Stop sitting on the fence - when will you start to question him?
Webbo Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 You can see why I'm getting a bit frustrated I'm sure. So you wouldn't sack him under any circumstances until the end of next season?
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I'm genuinely quite astounded that we can amass only 2 points from 13 matches and there are still more people seemingly wanting to keep Pearson than to sack him. I guess you could call it highly loyal, or stupid, or whatever really. Mark w says its 'sensible'. Again, I never thought we'd be hitting the new year being in such a low position that people are clamouring for the next result like its the Holy Grail. How we have stooped in terms of expectation as a club. The forum never ceases to amaze me. It genuinely doesn't.
nettle Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 So you wouldn't sack him under any circumstances until the end of next season? No he wouldn't because he loves him in a special way!
paulsherwood1 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Obviously not as you keep replying, your still clueless. Thanks for that. Another intelligent answer.
5waller5 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Seriously... 2 points from 39. Bottom of the league by 5 points and 6 points from safety. Those 6 points at our rate of gaining points this season would take us 10 games to get. The owners expectations, by definition, must be different to mine because I'd have sacked him 4 games ago. But if they are vastly different then we all need to worry.
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 You can see why I'm getting a bit frustrated I'm sure. I never thought you'd fall for that for so long Mark! How do you do the 'fishing rod' smiley?

Mark_w Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 So you wouldn't sack him under any circumstances until the end of next season? Are you joking or did you seriously not manage to get that from my 'I'd start to question if we're outside the top six of the Championship at the end of next season.' post? I never thought you'd fall for that for so long Mark! How do you do the 'fishing rod' smiley? Why would making yourself look slow embarrass me?

That's how it read to me. If we were in the bottom 3 of the championship this time next year you'd still want to keep him?

Why would making yourself look slow embarrass me? I'd imagine webbos more questioning why you think that? You can want to keep him if/when we go down, but surely there's got to be a limit. Presume that we fall apart, and come this time next year we're bottom of the championship - are you sticking with him then in case we make a late surge for the play-offs? I'm still in favour of keeping him, but this keep at all costs no matter what until the end of next season seems bizarre.
Mark_w Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 That's how it read to me. If we were in the bottom 3 of the championship this time next year you'd still want to keep him? If it's not mathematically impossible for us to finish in the top six then sure, though I doubt I'd really care either way. I'm sure you can understand why I think that seems incredibly unlikely though.
hackneyfox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 How is the amount of points connected to our status within the Football League? t! Priceless
BigMicky Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 2 points from 39. Bottom of the league by 5 points and 6 points from safety. I'm sure you can understand why I think that seems incredibly unlikely though. Sorry, but if we're looking at back to back relegations, so long as it's not mathematically impossible for us to get promoted, you'd stick with it? There's a limit surely? I want him to stay for the remainder of the season because I don't think we're that far off being a good side at this level, just need a little bit more know-how and composure on the pitch, but you've got to draw a line, and you seem to be drawing it at "once we're back where we started with Nige" - which seems ridiculous.
MC Prussian Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 How am I supposed to find the time to be on here arguing with you and run SW Foxes.... I support my club through thick and thin but shoot me if when the chips are down I'm not happy. Tell me....does it even bother you if we win or lose? Do you care if we get promoted or indeed relegated or are you more interested in winding up every Leicester City fan on this forum who dares challenge your opinion? Furthermore you missed the point. SW Foxes to me was fun when I was posting about last season. It however did not attract a huge amount of debate thus I lost interest. I took it over as. FUN but will ALWAYS support Leicester City come rain or shine. My wife bloody hates how badly I'm affected by the Leicester results but I can't help it...its in my blood. I was there when we won the League Cup and I was there when I was drenched watching Carl bloomin Cort v Plymouth...I was there when Claridge shinned it in and Collymore scored his hat trick and I was there when we lost to Bristol City due to a mistake by Chris Weale. I have no interest in even entertaining the thought of supporting another club and for you to even suggest it disgusts me. You question peoples loyalties and support like you are the best supporter the club has ever had you make me sick. I don't know how you can even begin to question whether someone supports a club unless they are young and starting out. Finally if you think Pearson should stay good for you. We agree to disagree but don't ever dare question peoples support when you don't have a f****** clue who I am and what I've been through with this club I will love and support till I die!! Of course, the results do bother me. But maybe, as previously mentioned in other threads over the course of the past few years, I have different expectations based on my previous experiences supporting this club. I'm not happy following defeats, but those defeats apparently don't get to me the way they get to others. Maybe somewhere there's a switch that helps me dissect it all on a different level. If you feel this club has a god-given right to be in this division and even somehow needs to replicate the MON years at one point (just guessing), you'll surely agree that it takes time and patience to get there. And a chunk of luck (that you may or not make yourself). Or to use your Facebook page analogy - so you've given up on it already. Who says you couldn't have been more successful if you'd been more persisting? I asked you how come you manage to still be alive after all those years and decades of ups and downs. Can't you fathom that for this club, stability in the top flight is a rare occurrence and that we've mostly fought for promotion and yo-yoyed in between the highest level and the one below? So, this whole situation shouldn't come as a surprise to you.
BigMicky Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Thanks for that. Another intelligent answer. You are welcome.
Corky Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I'm genuinely quite astounded that we can amass only 2 points from 13 matches and there are still more people seemingly wanting to keep Pearson than to sack him. How we have stooped in terms of expectation as a club. The forum never ceases to amaze me. It genuinely doesn't. Er, a few years ago when people said Holloway couldn't keep the club up despite taking over in 17th place in the Championship. When fans kept defending Sven for being 2 points off the play-offs and never reaching the top six. Without Pearson's work last year we wouldn't be here. That's why people support him. If he goes then I hope his replacement keeps us up and we progress. But some fans are looking at what has happened overall under Pearson when judging him, not just the last 13 games. Others want rid now. People see different things.
Floridafox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 This has probably been said already but the worst possible decision would be to fire Pearson at the end of the season. He either goes now or leave him alone, giving him the chance to redeem himself with an immediate return next year. Please do not sack him in May

I haven't given it a lot of thought because I don't think there's any chance of us being in the bottom three of the Championship at this stage next year if Nigel Pearson is in charge. But if it happens (it won't) I'll let you know what I'm thinking.
Webbo Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 It wasn't until it was clear that we'd be promoted last season that some on here forgave the board for sacking Sven. Loyalty can be an admirable quality but sometimes you have to see the bigger picture.
Legend_in_blue Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 We're where we are because financially we've spent next to nothing. With or without Pearson that wouldn't change. The owners are running it as tight as a badger's backside and this ain't going to change. Roll on next season - at least we will revert to being "market leaders".

Loyalty can be an admirable quality but sometimes you have to see the bigger picture. Just because those people were clearly wrong, doesn't make the people supporting a man who has achieved infinitely more for Leicester City are wrong.

Loyalty can be an admirable quality but sometimes you have to see the bigger picture. And what is the bigger picture here? Looking at the matches, every week we play ok, give away a silly goal and end up losing. We're not too far away from being a decent side (admittedly we've been saying this for weeks). You can point to 2 points from a possible 39, bottom at christmas, not won in 13, but that doesn't tell the story of how the matches have gone - our performances have deserved more than 2 points from those 13 games.
