DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 I'll have one last go. I haven't said it's OK for anybody to give out abuse, in fact I would say it definitely is not. I am sure if you were giving some police office some verbal and he decided to question your mothers background or gave you a clip you'd be the first person in the queue to have him dealt with. We rightly expect those in authority or role models to act responsibly with good judgement at all times. When the fail to do so they can expect to feel the heat. So true. I had to take abuse every day, when out on patrol, and it was not nice. Inside I was angry, but to respond in kind would have cost me my job. That is how Pearson should have acted; with dignity.

CosbehFox Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Can we please stop using 'professional' line please or 'if I was at work'. Football is completely difference workplace which has major pressures placed upon it. A fan isn't a customer. The same way football is far more complex than business ever will be. Place both comments from manager and fan in the atmosphere of a football game, they are nothing. It's like being offended for swearing on a building site.
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 you people really need to get a ****ing grip, paying customers have the right to voice their opinions. he was bang out of order and unproffesional. Calling someone a twat is not voicing an opinion, it's verbal abuse. Learn the difference please.
Guest ttfn Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 to be fair you've got yo credit the FA. This is beyond outrageous but they keep having the gall to stick their nose in where it simply isn't appropriate.
chapero82 Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 you people really need to get a ****ing grip, paying customers have the right to voice their opinions. he was bang out of order and unproffesional. This is a load of rubbish and is the problem in football itself, would you go into a bank airport, or shop and shout you are a ****ing twat? No you would not and would most probably be arrested for abusive behaviour
L1wazza Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 So if somebody you don't know walks into your workplace and calls you a twat you'd just sit there and say nothing? if you told a customer to **** off and die you would be fired
Guest ttfn Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 if you told a customer to **** off and die you would be fired And the customer would never be allowed back in the shop. Do you advocate a lifetime ban for the fan?
C-man Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 And the customer would never be allowed back in the shop. Do you advocate a lifetime ban for the fan? Nah he was just expressing an opinion.
L1wazza Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 This incident just adds to the NP legend in my eyes. Hero. your clearly easily pleased then
ARTY_FOX Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 if you told a customer to **** off and die you would be fired As others have said you can't compare someone on a shop telling a customer to f off and die with a football manager telling a fan during a match. Both different situations with different pressures and can be in no way compared.
L1wazza Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 how are people really defending him. he should have taken the moral high ground. but no he took the bait and reacted much like a child would do
ARTY_FOX Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 how are people really defending him. he should have taken the moral high ground. but no he took the bait and reacted much like a child would do So you've never snapped back at someone you shouldn't have before?
AdamN Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 It's no surprise that the people slating him for it are the ones who want him sacked anyway.
C-man Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 your clearly easily pleased then Yeah how dare I be pleased with two league titles and two play off season. Get in the bin.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Yeah how dare I be pleased with two league titles and two play off season. Get in the bin. "A dustbin lid could have walked [League One]", remember? This is the mentality of some of our fans.
biggs Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 So an agitated fan is giving NP abuse and he gets some back. In my world if you give it you should certainly be ready to get some back. Did he expect Pearson to sit there like a wet rag soaking it all in? To those harping on Pearson, how long should Pearson have put up with it? Should he have walked away....Why should he? Do you think being polite to this moron would have shut him up? I completely back Pearson here and really couldn't care less what he said back. Wouldn't be surprised if a number of people in the stands had also told the nut to F off
L1wazza Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 "A dustbin lid could have walked [League One]", remember? This is the mentality of some of our fans. 'stick with pearson even if he sends us down' mentality of others. absolute blind faith with no ambition.
Guest MattP Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 'stick with pearson even if he sends us down' mentality of others. absolute blind faith with no ambition. Yeah the last bloke we need in charge if we go down is Pearson.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 This is a load of rubbish and is the problem in football itself, would you go into a bank airport, or shop and shout you are a ****ing twat? No you would not and would most probably be arrested for abusive behaviour Are you really comparing a football stadium to a bank or shop? If you are, you're a moron. And if this man is to be banned for calling Pearson a ****ing twat, surely by this logic all of the fans that participate in the "ooooo you're shit" when the keeper takes a goal kick should be banned as well?
Monsell1976 Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Twat is nothing compared to Fvck off & die, fans shout much worse towards players of all teams & probably don't get a stadium ban, why should this guy get a stadium ban for shouting "twat". I can remember when Megson had endless abuse shouted at him, much worse than twat and he just took it and didn't respond. Pearson should know better. Finally someone with some sort of decencey, Pearson cannot be defended for what he said, wether provoke or not, **** off and die is out of order, and he should be punished.Didn't hear what else the fan said other than twat, his behaviour cannot be defended, and he should be punished. Cannot believe some of the 'fans' on here want the fan to be banned, some for life, and see the comments from Pearson as acceptable and go unpunished. Both should be punished and this all put behind the club and move on.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 'stick with pearson even if he sends us down' mentality of others. absolute blind faith with no ambition. Blind faith is assuming a new manager will make all right with the world, not backing someone with a proven track record of progress at our club. A man whose head has been called for every time we've stuttered, and we've come out the other side better.
theessexfox Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Both Neither should be punished and this all put behind the club and move on.
Monsell1976 Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Both Neither should be punished and this all put behind the club and move on.The fa has decided that Pearson should be punished, I'm not going to defend either, but if one is punished, then both should.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Banning a fan for Pearson retaliating at him would be a PR nightmare as well. The FA's punishment really doesn't effect how Pearson operates things anyway, so it's not much of a big deal.
