Asha Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 It's not as clear-cut as getting home early. I've often thought in the past that a lot fans feel that it's the 'cool thing to do' when we're losing, especially.
Corky Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 There was one match where we were 2-0 down and a few kids started chanting "Loyal supporters!" at some who were leaving early, then proceeded to bugger off a couple of minutes later at 3-0 down Only left early twice for public transport reasons, can't imagine anyone leaving a cracking game early for non essential reasons, surely the players deserve to be applauded off?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 That five minutes could be the difference between waiting an hour for the next mode of public transport. So why do they stop when the play nears the opponent's box? Hmmm?
ianormondroyd Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Sometimes I have to leave on the whistle to get out so that I can get to work on time which will mean me leaving my seat early, it's annoying for me to have to leave at that point but being verbally abused for going to work, is frankly even more annoying! I will have to do this on Boxing Day by the way, so spare a thought!!!
Foxylady64 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 I've always wanted to know what it feels like to hear your team has scored while you are driving home, why miss a goal, isn't that what the game is all about. It doesn't matter if we don't look like scoring a goal can come at any time . There were people leaving yesterday with a lot more than five minutes to go!
ZeljkoKalac1 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Exactly the same question (without the "hell" bit) that my 10 year old son asked me yesterday. He followed it up by saying "we're losing 1-0 and if they got home and found out we'd drew 1-1 or even won, they'd be really annoying they missed it to get home a little bit earlier"............excellent logic from a child.
Foxes1 Posted 14 December 2014 Author Posted 14 December 2014 The worst ones for leaving early are the ones at Man U but then again its a long way from Manchester to Cornwall, Bristol, Newcastle, London etc
hackneyfox Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Arsenal are the worst for it, even when they are winning the ground pretty much empties.Arsenal is a notoriously bad place to get away from whether driving or using public transport.
Buzzell Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 I've left a few times before the final whistle, mainly if we're losing and just before injury time and that's down to trying to get out of commercial square before the traffic becomes ridiculous. Those last few minutes can be the difference to getting home and sitting in gridlock traffic for an hour.
Monsell1976 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 I'm disabled and struggle with the stairs, and if staying till the end, I have to endure the struggle of being knocked about, and standing there for 10 to 20 minutes to get out. I'm very sorry I go down and watch the screens for the last five minutes, I'm very sorry I have annoyed the op, how silly and plastic of me. Even if I didn't have the issues, what the **** has it got to do with anyone else, what time people leave, it affects nobody else but the person leaving, and maybe the person that has to stand up to let them out.
Larry_LCFC Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 We have a problem where I sit that people go to leave but then any hint of an attack they just stop still on the stairs.I find it infuriating. I missed their goal yesterday because of a group walking down the stairs and stopping when man city came toward. Utterly selfish.
C.J Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 So you can identify who the real supporters are by the ones who stay behind.
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Don't recall ever leaving early and never will. But I'm struggling to think of anything I could care less about right now (which I know is completely undermined by the fact I'm posting about it). People can do what they like. I don't jump to the conclusion that every person who leaves early does so without good reason, nor do I have any right to know whether their reasons are good or not.
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 I park relatively near the ground and tend to shoot off about five mins early IF we are losing and its clear we couldn't score in a brothel. Two reasons: 1. Im bored of watching crap 2. If i leave five mins early, I get home in ten mins. If i leave after the whistle, its about six. If its a close game i always stay, as i do if we are winning.

Guest Col city fan Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 just as i thought...only hardcore when we're winning...Dont wanna know if we are living or crap..get home early for an extra 10 mins on here!!! !!! You dont like the truth Raj, don't read it! In all sincerity, my days of staying on at games we are rubbish in to give some half hearted ripple of applause at the end are long gone. Why i stay on to applaud good performances is because i want to. If that makes sense.

Bunyip Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Don't see what the hell it's got to do with anyone else if someone want's to leave early . Who do you people think you are ? My moneys is as good as your's and if I decide to go early I bloody well will , with or without your permission. Honestly is this all people on here have got to moan about ? have a word with your selves , then come to the conclusion that A--- it's none of your business and B--- no one cares what you think on this matter anyway.
reynard Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 I agree with you Foxes1, very annoying. What must the players think when they see hundreds of "fans" streaming away with 5 mins plus injury time to play. Some may have to catch trains, but I doubt many do - they are just not die hard fans. It's when your team is losing that it needs the most vocal support / encouragement, not emptying stands. I have been supporting City for over 52 years and it is clear that sadly we have more than our fair share of fair weather fans. It's the same at all grounds I've been to and hasn't changed for years.

daventry_fox Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 this annoys the hell out of me to but each to their own i suppose. I had work last Sunday at 7 pm in rugby but still stayed until the end of the game.
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Six minutes! Why leave early? Six o'clock Dave...
foz.foz Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 People*edit* which is a lot when you live out of county. Having said all that, if you are going to leave early, DO NOT stop half way down on the stairs and block everyone's view who are still sat down. If you are going, just go. Height of ignorance. People that decide to stand at the stairs to watch the last remaining minutes of the match pisses me off. Not only do they block my Grandads view but also hold every ****er up trying to leave once the final whistle has been blown. Its not just at the end of a game but during it as well. Wait till there is a break in play before you stand up to leave/ go for a pi$$ or come back to your seat. Thanks
