Why the hell do people start leaving with 5 minutes to go

It really p****d me off yesterday we were pushing for an equalizer and people start leaving with 5 minutes left on the clock asking you to move so they can get out and they start streaming down the stairs as soon as we get near their penalty box the ones leaving stop to see what's happening blocking the view for those that want to stay. Alright if we are 6-0 down I can possibly understand it but 1-0 come off it.

Sometimes it's about catching trains before the away fans get to the station and you end up in a melee or getting to you car so you don't sit in traffic for hours to get out of the city. It is annoying though, I've always been a full 90 minute fan (apart from the Levein era where drinking in the concourses whilst watching on a rubbish tele was far more appealing) There are a couple of lads who sit on my row and always arrive late for each half and leave early. If there is action in front of me, I now make them wait on the steps before coming down the row - which they don't like and is a little confrontational but they are beginning to get the message.

I agree with you Foxes1, very annoying. What must the players think when they see hundreds of "fans" streaming away with 5 mins plus injury time to play.

Some may have to catch trains, but I doubt many do - they are just not die hard fans. It's when your team is losing that it needs the most vocal support / encouragement, not emptying stands.

I have been supporting City for over 52 years and it is clear that sadly we have more than our fair share of fair weather fans.

What must be players think? If they spend the last 5 minutes worrying about that when we need to score a goal we are in big trouble.

Clearly people's own choice and I didn't understand it yesterday however it took me an hour to get a mile away from the stadium yesterday.

Sitting in the Kop it's becoming a real issue getting out after the final whistle atm.

They seem to have stopped letting the people who sit lower down walk around the edge of the pitch and out that way, instead forcing them back up and causing a huge jam with everyone trying to get out in one place. Perhaps people are leaving early to avoid this mad rush.

Some of us don't live in Leicestershire, so avoiding the congestion outweighs waiting 5 minutes for the whistle to go. Like a post above me states, it is difficult to get out now in the Kop due to not letting us exit out the front, so waiting for the game to end can add near enough another half hour (or even more) onto your journey because by the time you get out the traffic is heaving.

What must the players think when they see "fans" streaming away with 5 mins plus injury time to play.

If that is seriously your concern then firstly I would want to know why the players aren't focused on the game and instead are watching the exits?

There's some people near me in K block who yesterday arrived 5 minutes after kick off, left on 38 minutes, arrived back after half time finished and then left on 85 minutes. Someone actually asked them why they bothered coming as they pushed their way down their row again as we were attacking.

I think it is just rude. It's like constantly walking in and out of a concert or theatre or cinema (maybe they do this too!)

I accept there's a few people that may have a legitimate reason for leaving before the end - a few. Beating the traffic and getting home earlier is not one though! But as for getting up and down throughout the match - it's just bad manners!

Not everybody lives in Leicestershire? People have other commitments straight after?

I don't get why it bothers people that much. It's not really affecting you and you don't know people's reasoning.

Not that many people left vs United.

Funny how people only have to catch trains or miss traffic when we're losing, rather than getting behind the team when they need us.

Like what though? It's a Saturday evening. Unless you're working I can't really see why you need to leave early.

At the end of the day it's themselves these people are mugging off for every last minute equaliser/winner they miss. Bizarre behaviour.

When I was seven, we used to leave a good five minutes before the end to catch the bus.

I don't understand it myself, and would have much preffered to wait half an hour for the next bus.

Everyone is different I suppose, but I would not do it out of choice and find their psyche quite odd.

Leave 5 minutes before the end and get home at a comfortable time, versus watch the closing minutes, which is a very important part of the match and add half hour to your journey.

No question for me, but as I say, we are all different I suppose

On my row yesterday there were about 6 people (two groups) who turned up about 10 mins into the first half. Then went down 5-10 mins before half time. Came back about 5 mins into the second half and left 5 mins early before the end.

Why the **** would you even bother going to the game if you miss about a third of it.

Alway have and always will leave on 88 minutes. My reasons are absolutely none of your business.

What's really annoying is threads like this.

People shouldn't really have to justify themselves because everyone has their own reasons. Personally, if the game looks like it is going nowhere, my dad starts walking back to the car with a few minutes to go and then I leg it at full time. Those few minutes can save 30 mins stuck in traffic which is a lot when you live out of county.

Having said all that, if you are going to leave early, DO NOT stop half way down on the stairs and block everyone's view who are still sat down. If you are going, just go. Height of ignorance.

Don't think I've ever left a game early. Even the 5-0 defeats vs Bolton and Aston Villa, 6-2 vs Utd, 4-0 vs Chelsea, I stayed til the end.

I am basically a better fan than all of you put together.

bite.

Just the truth.
