Foxes1 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 It really p****d me off yesterday we were pushing for an equalizer and people start leaving with 5 minutes left on the clock asking you to move so they can get out and they start streaming down the stairs as soon as we get near their penalty box the ones leaving stop to see what's happening blocking the view for those that want to stay. Alright if we are 6-0 down I can possibly understand it but 1-0 come off it.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 People always have and always will leave before the end, to 'miss the traffic'. Annoying, but some things will never change.
DB11 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 That five minutes could be the difference between waiting an hour for the next mode of public transport.
Nick Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Sometimes it's about catching trains before the away fans get to the station and you end up in a melee or getting to you car so you don't sit in traffic for hours to get out of the city. It is annoying though, I've always been a full 90 minute fan (apart from the Levein era where drinking in the concourses whilst watching on a rubbish tele was far more appealing) There are a couple of lads who sit on my row and always arrive late for each half and leave early. If there is action in front of me, I now make them wait on the steps before coming down the row - which they don't like and is a little confrontational but they are beginning to get the message.
josh_baskin Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 some fans such as myself watch the last 5 minutes on the monitors near the exit to leave before all hell breaks loose.
BoyJones Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 I agree with you Foxes1, very annoying. What must the players think when they see hundreds of "fans" streaming away with 5 mins plus injury time to play. Some may have to catch trains, but I doubt many do - they are just not die hard fans. It's when your team is losing that it needs the most vocal support / encouragement, not emptying stands. I have been supporting City for over 52 years and it is clear that sadly we have more than our fair share of fair weather fans.

If they spend the last 5 minutes worrying about that when we need to score a goal we are in big trouble.Clearly people's own choice and I didn't understand it yesterday however it took me an hour to get a mile away from the stadium yesterday.
Chris Hogg Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Sitting in the Kop it's becoming a real issue getting out after the final whistle atm. They seem to have stopped letting the people who sit lower down walk around the edge of the pitch and out that way, instead forcing them back up and causing a huge jam with everyone trying to get out in one place. Perhaps people are leaving early to avoid this mad rush. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
katieakita Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 These will be the same people who do it at a Cinema!!
blue army 1988 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 It dosnt help now that we have all the day trippers. Bloke next to me didnt know who our keeper was and thought knockart was playing from the start.
tylesta Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 it happens at every football ground in the u.k !
red5 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Wow a fans leaving early thread! Time for a family/kop swap thread me thinks.
Fox96 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Some of us don't live in Leicestershire, so avoiding the congestion outweighs waiting 5 minutes for the whistle to go. Like a post above me states, it is difficult to get out now in the Kop due to not letting us exit out the front, so waiting for the game to end can add near enough another half hour (or even more) onto your journey because by the time you get out the traffic is heaving. What must the players think when they see "fans" streaming away with 5 mins plus injury time to play.If that is seriously your concern then firstly I would want to know why the players aren't focused on the game and instead are watching the exits?
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Not a problem if everyone is standing... :xmastongue:
Illusion35 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 There's some people near me in K block who yesterday arrived 5 minutes after kick off, left on 38 minutes, arrived back after half time finished and then left on 85 minutes. Someone actually asked them why they bothered coming as they pushed their way down their row again as we were attacking. I think it is just rude. It's like constantly walking in and out of a concert or theatre or cinema (maybe they do this too!) I accept there's a few people that may have a legitimate reason for leaving before the end - a few. Beating the traffic and getting home earlier is not one though! But as for getting up and down throughout the match - it's just bad manners!
Fox92 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Not everybody lives in Leicestershire? People have other commitments straight after? I don't get why it bothers people that much. It's not really affecting you and you don't know people's reasoning.
AndWhat? Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Not that many people left vs United. Funny how people only have to catch trains or miss traffic when we're losing, rather than getting behind the team when they need us.
Voll Blau Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Not everybody lives in Leicestershire? People have other commitments straight after? I don't get why it bothers people that much. It's not really affecting you and you don't know people's reasoning. Like what though? It's a Saturday evening. Unless you're working I can't really see why you need to leave early. At the end of the day it's themselves these people are mugging off for every last minute equaliser/winner they miss. Bizarre behaviour.
Rob1742 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 When I was seven, we used to leave a good five minutes before the end to catch the bus. I don't understand it myself, and would have much preffered to wait half an hour for the next bus. Everyone is different I suppose, but I would not do it out of choice and find their psyche quite odd. Leave 5 minutes before the end and get home at a comfortable time, versus watch the closing minutes, which is a very important part of the match and add half hour to your journey. No question for me, but as I say, we are all different I suppose
SMX11 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 On my row yesterday there were about 6 people (two groups) who turned up about 10 mins into the first half. Then went down 5-10 mins before half time. Came back about 5 mins into the second half and left 5 mins early before the end. Why the **** would you even bother going to the game if you miss about a third of it.
Aeropars Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Alway have and always will leave on 88 minutes. My reasons are absolutely none of your business. What's really annoying is threads like this.
Larry_LCFC Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 People shouldn't really have to justify themselves because everyone has their own reasons. Personally, if the game looks like it is going nowhere, my dad starts walking back to the car with a few minutes to go and then I leg it at full time. Those few minutes can save 30 mins stuck in traffic which is a lot when you live out of county. Having said all that, if you are going to leave early, DO NOT stop half way down on the stairs and block everyone's view who are still sat down. If you are going, just go. Height of ignorance.
StanSP Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Don't think I've ever left a game early. Even the 5-0 defeats vs Bolton and Aston Villa, 6-2 vs Utd, 4-0 vs Chelsea, I stayed til the end. I am basically a better fan than all of you put together. bite. Just the truth.
Raj Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 I've only.just left the ground now...Im better than all....fooking cold though!!
