John Munday Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 West Brom semi at Hillsborough, 69. Clarke scored a late winner. Last game I went to with my Dad
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 West Brom semi at Hillsborough, 69. Clarke scored a late winner. Last game I went to with my Dad Now that's what memories are all about. Great post!
LCFC FOX Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 The 8k taking over Nottingham was a good day, shame it ended 0-0 but we the replay was worth it too!
BigC Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Has to be my first season of watching football, 05/06, 3-2 win vs Spurs.
Tommeh Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 My first away with mates was Reading in '05 which set the tone, then followed Dublin at Charlton. After that De Vries v Spurs Then you have Hart's blunder at home and Lloyd shuffling through away at Man City 2011, Norwich away in 2012 followed by a good crack at Chelsea - was gutted that year, we had a right shot at going all the way but ran into the winners in the last 8. Well up for tomorrow.
Corky Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Nugent's winner at Norwich, top day. Even beating Hereford three days before Christmas was memorable, freezing, late night Love the cup.
Fox92 Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 4-0 v Northampton Pretty sure that was my first ever game. Love the FA Cup, hope we go for this year.
Rushden fox Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Why would a city fan say that even in jest? its certainly ingrained in my memory :-(
MHC Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 I remember going to Filbert Street for Leicester vs Arsenal during the O'Neill era and Peggy Arphexad put on a goalkeeping masterclass in the penalty shootout and we won, the match finished 0-0 though. Always a fond memory that one. Edit: my worst one would be the 0-0 vs Crystal Palace when we were in League One, it was bloody freezing (and I mean the temperature was arctic) and it was the most drab football match I have ever seen.
melrose Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 its certainly ingrained in my memory :-( Liverpool were struggling at that time, we would have done em at Villa Park in the semi!
John Munday Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Now that's what memories are all about. Great post!
John Munday Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 I couldn't get a ticket for the final, but my dad and sister went (I was only 9). My dad was very poorly though, and died just before the start of the 69/70 season. That semi-final was the best day I've had watching the City
ashby_fox Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Got to be 5-2 v Shrewsbury in 82 fa cup quater final. I remember as a kid sitting on the wall of the Main Stand enclosure getting soaked. What a game.
Ealing Fox Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Edit: my worst one would be the 0-0 vs Crystal Palace when we were in League One, it was bloody freezing (and I mean the temperature was arctic) and it was the most drab football match I have ever seen. Interesting. I missed that one, but the worst game I've ever seen without question was the replay at Selhurst Park. Awful awful game, two stands shut due to low attendance, and Tunchev carried off to never really be seen again, random abuse from corporate Palace fans.

Good job you missed that one too I seriously don't recall seeing a shot at goal for the whole match. I've not been to an FA Cup match since but I'm going tomorrow, I'm intrigued to see what Tom Lawrence has got to offer because he is surely going to start.
BoyJones Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 West brom in 69 was special, my overriding memory was that they never segregated the coaches and we happened to have west brom coaches either side of ours. The verbals and aggro after the game were the most intimidating I ever experienced. It took ages to get out of the coach park, but it was most enjoyable! However, has to be Joe Waters game. Still hadn't recovered by the Monday and was sick on the counter at the bank I worked at. Great times! Strangely enough I went to the recent QPR game on my own and had a drink in the Hammersmith Ram. Got talking to three QPR fans my age, ie in their 60's, and of course mentioned the 74 game. They immediately said "Joe Waters", they had not forgotten his name after 40 years because they told me they were convinced their name was on the cup when they drew city at home!
BoyJones Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Second best was the 4-3 victory over Man City after we were 2-0 down and then played them off the park scoring 4 fairly quick goals. The atmosphere was different in those days, standing all the time, constant swaying, no bullsh@t H & S. i cried at the end, something I didn't do again until 1994.
peterborofox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Norwich away was a great one and in recent times the only better away game was Forest to make the playoffs. On a personal one we went to the City away cup game in 04, drew 2-2 really good weekend out
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Charlton away, Dion Dublin late winner. My first away game, what a day it was.
st albans fox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Can't beat coming back from 2 down at home to leatherhead. was a real bad feeling being 2 down at that time. We were good then!
