in Pakistan

Not sure if serious...

It must be heartbreaking for them that their country is such a lawless hellhole populated by too many murderous fanatics that they have to play in near silence in someone else's country.

Imagine if Pakistan was free of fanatics - This series would be being played in front of loud, raucous packed houses. It would be generating money, excitement and national pride.

Anyone campaigning against extremists back home should play footage of this test, where you can hear the players talking to each other, and compare it with footage of a test in India, and point out what Pakistan are missing.

It seems the only places Pakistanis can get raucous about their cricket are test venues in England.

Let's not go overboard here mate, the last series we played in Pakistan was in front of quarter full grounds, like India it's a nation that is in love with limited overs cricket rather than the longer form.

The team selection here is tragic as well, Samit Patel playing, so negative, he's not scaring anyone in this line up.

Series defining session here, we collapse and it is all over, we manage to  see this off and build a good partnership we'll be in a good position to level the series and take the moral victory after the first test.

There has been a bit of chat on Sky about subs in test matches after the Stokes injury, one incident and we are down a batsman for 2 innings and a bowler for 1 and a half, that could be costly.

How would you feel about subs in test cricket, from an injury point of view, but also from a tactical point of view.

It does seem a bit perverse that an accident, like Stokes', could cost you a game, yet you can have a sub when need a wee, or to put your feet up. There is the risk that teams will abuse it, but if you have 1 designated batting sub and 1 designated bowling sub, for injuries then it is at the umpire's discretion if they permit the sub.

Alternatively you could permit tactical subs, allowing say 2 subs after both teams have batted, so for example you could pick Rashid in the squad, but start with Finn, then depending on how the pitch is playing swap Finn who is effective in the first innings on a hard bouncy pitch for a leg spinner who is more effective later on, or if you have a healthy lead and time is running out bring on a bowler for a batsman to try and force a result, or a batsman for a bowler to try and see out the draw.

Completely against subs in cricket, one of the best things about the game is you pick a side based on how you think a pitch will behave, teams shouldn't be able to react to a pitch.

Injuries are just one of those things, they create great moments as well though, Graham Smith coming out at number 11 with a broken arm for four overs trying to bat one handed v the Aussies was tremendous theatre.
