surrifox Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Absolutely. I would also drop Moeen down to 7/8 where he seems most effective and in the absence of any other candidate open with Root (who started his career as an opener). Bell keeps his spot but if I had a scintilla of confidence in Hayles he would be gone too
leicsmac Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Bring back Compton to open, stick Moeen back at 8 and drop Buttler for Bairstow keeping instead. Taylor in for Bell. Though I wouldn't go in for such changes just yet. Think how many teams actually manage to be competitive v Pakistan in the UAE, let alone win a series.
leicsmac Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Leading on from that point yesterday, does anyone actually know how many Tests Pakistan have lost in the UAE since they first started playing there? I'm pretty sure they haven't lost a series but how many individual Tests? Bet it isn't many. Got to be the environment most biased to the home side in the world.
Captain... Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 What would you be thinking here as Cook? The best possible outcome here is a draw, so do we just eek out their innings as long as possible tell the boys to relax a bit take it down a notch in the field as we have a long 4 sessions of batting ahead, don't go sprinting to save a boundary doesn't really matter what they score from now on. Or do we keep it as intense as possible take some wickets and go into bat with some momentum?

Guest MattP Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Hopefully that's the end of he ridiculous Ali to open debacle. Can see Compton coming back for South Africa.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Bell looking responsible batting for his career.
leicsmac Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Saffers doing their occasional annihilation job, AB the main man once again. Bell looking like he does every time his place is in jeopardy - watchful patient big score.
surrifox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Saffers doing their occasional annihilation job, AB the main man once again. Bell looking like he does every time his place is in jeopardy - watchful patient big score. Probably not quite big enough this time
leicsmac Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Probably not quite big enough this time Nope. I think he's gone. Well, seven wickets in hand to survive tomorrow. Possible, but not probable.
RowlattsFox Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 When was last decent score Ben Stokes got? He seems to be escaping criticism.
ScouseFox Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 good effort to even get close to seeing this out tbh, didn't think we'd even make lunch let alone early evening
IOWFOX Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 Surely the umpires should make pakistan bowl at the same over rate as the last game for this last hour. Think it was about 11 for the hour, would only be fair.

Think it was about 11 for the hour, would only be fair. be lucky to get 11 overs if they appeal every single ball despite none of them even being close to out. they've just appealed one that could've been called a wide ffs. then that catch that was driven into the ground?! can't work out if they're drunk or just desperate
leicsmac Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 I can handle the despair, it's the fvcking hope I can't manage.
leicsmac Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 Whatever happens from here, Rashid has done majestically as have most of the lower order.
leicsmac Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 What a typically English way for it to pan out.
Guest MattP Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 One bad morning ruins a whole tour. Real fight today but you have to be on it for 5 days. Rashid and Wood were immense.
Super_horns Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 Trouble is we cannot just rely on Cook and Root at the top - no wonder they have back problems! The lower order were excellent and unlucky in a way.
