leicsmac Posted 15 October 2015 Posted 15 October 2015 Can't believe that some people wanted Cook dropped a while back.
Alexikokopops Posted 15 October 2015 Posted 15 October 2015 Anyone had a look at the CricViz app they mentioned on TMS yesterday? It does a lot of number crunching to work out predicted outcomes etc. I'm finding it interesting but I am a data analyst so that's not really a surprise...
Ross-Kemp Posted 15 October 2015 Posted 15 October 2015 273-1 now, Cook has moved to 162, superb innings.
Guest MattP Posted 15 October 2015 Posted 15 October 2015 One of those days where you want to just drink a couple of bottles of wine and watch him bat, a slow pitch yes but hours upon hours of facing an international attack without even looking like getting out. (handling the ball aside, how good does that look now?) Tremendous mental strength and concentration.
RowlattsFox Posted 15 October 2015 Posted 15 October 2015 Cook has been out in the middle for every minute of this test match so far, excluding the odd loo break here and there. He could be there for all 5 days.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 15 October 2015 Posted 15 October 2015 Highest average in Asia for any English player. Hats off Mr Cook.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 15 October 2015 Posted 15 October 2015 Have just seen that Mahela Jayawardene is currently a batting consultant for England. Outstanding bit of business that.
Guest MattP Posted 15 October 2015 Posted 15 October 2015 Have just seen that Mahela Jayawardene is currently a batting consultant for England. Outstanding bit of business that. Just a bit. Remember the days when we used to rope in John Crawley and Neil Fairbrother.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 From the Beeb's statto; "Alastair Cook has now been batting for over 10 hours in this innings. It's the third time in his Test career that he's batted for over 10 hours. Only five other players have played three or more innings of 10 hours: Mahela Jayawardene, Younis Khan, Marvan Atapattu, Kumar Sangakkara and Javed Miandad."
IOWFOX Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 There has been 6 double centuries at this ground in 8 test matches. Surely they have to do something about the pitch because that is a ridiculous stat.
davieG Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Why are they playing here in an almost empty stadium?
Guest Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Why are they playing here in an almost empty stadium? can't booze
BoyJones Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Why are they playing here in an almost empty stadium? Can't take time off work, plus little interest at neutral venue.
Guest MattP Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Friday prayers as well atm. Cook continues to astound, Root looked shattered coming off at lunch and Cook still looks like he did when he first turned up at the crease.
ScouseFox Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Yes but why in Abu Dhabi? so nobody gets shot
davieG Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Why are they playing here in an almost empty stadium? Ok just Google it, I'd forgotten about the Sri Lanka incident as I don't follow cricket that closely and not other international teams.
Finnegan Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 lol If you were ever going to make up a boycott quote, that'd be it.
surrifox Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Friday prayers as well atm. It's been remarked on before - his powers of concentration are matchless and that must be related to his ability to shrug off temperature extremes - we are lucky to have him

It's been remarked on before - his powers of concentration are matchless and that must be related to his ability to shrug off temperature extremes - we are lucky to have him I don't know how he does it, Malik was on a drip after his innings and Cook is just wandering back like he's just came in, he's closing in on 10,000 test match runs as well. I'd understand if he had grown up in the gulf but he was on a freezing farm somewhere

Voll Blau Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Off topic from the match but is anyone else following the Chris Cairns trial? So sad that this issue has to come and dog the sport every few years.
RowlattsFox Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Spinners are doing well so far, over 150 overs for no wickets.
Guest MattP Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Off topic from the match but is anyone else following the Chris Cairns trial? Yeah I've been following it, as sad as it gets really, even more so as he dragged others down with him, Lou Vincent's testimony has been the most shocking of all.
Captain... Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 800 minutes!!! I don't think I could concentrate on anything for 800 minutes, the man is a machine, didn't realise Malik needed a drip after his innings, Cook will probably just hit the sauna.
