Gerard Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Foxes never quit. Exactly, I wouldn't want these lot next to me in the trenches. Imagine if the players had the same attitude!!!! Disappointing to lose today but we dust ourselves down and try and get something at Arsenal.
Bilo Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Gonna be very tough. Taking an average from the last 5 seasons we would need approximately 38 points to survive (another 21 points so that's 7 wins or whatever combination of draws and wins) We have 14 games left: Arsenal (A) Everton (A) Chelsea Man City (A) Hull Tottenham (A) West Ham West Brom (A) Swansea Burnley (A) Newcastle Southampton Sunderland (A) QPR Its all good saying we are only 3 points behind but you have to bear in mind other teams still have as much a chance as we do of picking up points. You have to look at the bigger picture. It's of course still possible but it's also hard to see where we would get our wins to make up the points. I'm gonna try my best to stay optimistic! Realistically: Arsenal (A) LOSS -17 pts Everton (A) LOSS - 17 pts Chelsea (H) LOSS - 17 pts Man City (A) LOSS - 17 pts Hull (H) WIN - 20 pts Tottenham (A) LOSS - 20 pts West Ham (H) DRAW - 21 pts West Brom (A) DRAW - 22 pts Swansea (H) LOSS - 22pts Burnley (A) DRAW - 23 pts Newcastle (H) WIN - 26 pts Southampton (H) LOSS - 26 pts Sunderland (A) DRAW - 27 pts QPR (H) WIN - 30 pts Even being reasonably optimistic (I think draws at WBA and Burnley are a big ask) that almost certainly puts us down.
Gerard Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 You can't lose at home to palace, west Brom and Stoke without scoring, and fail to beat Sunderland and burnley of you want to survive. Home games are pivotal and we haven't took advantage. I won't give up but I'm not far away. We need a bit of luck and need to hope we are still within touching distance by the time we've played Man City to have any chance. You can't beat Man Utd and Villa at home and win away at Stoke and Hull and expect to get relegated. See, we can all pick out matches that suit our statement. Bottom line is we're one win away from 17th and 14 games left.
peterborofox Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Fact we're going to get less points than under Micky Adams' old free transfer squad is just embarrassing.
fazzyfox Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 If the show isn't over til the fat lady sings our next four games look like a Lisa Riley boxed set. But, and she has a big one, from such situations heroes are made, step forward Kramaric, Huth and Upson, mind yourself Upson don't strain anything...ok Kramaric and Huth then. Maybe a point at Arsenal and a win at Everton?
LCCFox96 Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 If we as fans don't believe then why should the team? We have to stand by them until the bitter end, whether that be survival or the worst. Come on, today was a real sucker punch and a kick in the teeth but we are not done yet. Although I'm sure only a minor consolation to people, some late goals from City and Southampton have helped us out a little bit today. We can still do this! Pick ourselves up and on to the next one!
Raj Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 In may just after the qpr game, after already being relegated a month prior we will still be saying we played okay and we aren't that far off a decent team!!!!"
Snooty Fox Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Hopefully the few that were still in denial can now accept it and the whole club (fans, players, manager) can focus on our very real opportunity to win the FA cup this season.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 We've gone from a team not quite good enough but with a lot of desire and belief to a team not quite good enough with little belief. That's what means we're relegated. All it's taken the last three games is for us to go 1-0 down and we turn into a clueless mess.
sdb Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 After today I too think we've too much ground to make up. What annoys me is the 3-4000 around me at the KP appear to have known/wanted this for the last few games. They only ever get involved during games when there's something to groan about.
Guest Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 We just need the same points and better goal difference than 3 other teams. A win today and we'd have been sniffing the knickers of safety. It's going down to the last day against QPR.
Saladin Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Damned if you do, damned if you don't. The owners have been fantastic, we should be glad they're not trigger happy unlike some. They have my respect for wanting to establish a permanent managerial hierarchy. Pearson would have learnt a lot from this season, we will be back stronger.
jimmeh Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 We just need the same points and better goal difference than 3 other teams. A win today and we'd have been sniffing the knickers of safety. It's going down to the last day against QPR. Deluded.
Saxondale Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 It is not looking good at all now. Not because of the mathematics, but because we simply have to win games like that at home. Thats said, we'll probably go and beat Arsenal now.
Raj Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Hopefully the few that were still in denial can now accept it and the whole club (fans, players, manager) can focus on our very real opportunity to win the FA cup this season.Actually NO.There are still some Crap teams there and we are still only 3 points in it..We can't just fpoking give up...We MIGHT get something out the big games where theres no pressure
Raw Dykes Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 I'm sorry to say, but you're right. You can point to the three point gap all you like, but we're clearly not good enough for this division. We have Arsenal, Everton and Man City to visit in the next three games, which will certainly bring about 0 points and very likely damage to our goal difference as we're going to get tonked, followed by the visit of a Hull side who will nick a 1-0 win and effectively end our misery. I honestly can't wait for this season to be over. Sack Pearson? If the owners were going to do it, they should have done at the start of December to give the new man a transfer window. No manager in his right mind would take us on now and we just have to try to go down with a bit of dignity. I agree. I just can't see how we're going to find the form we need now. This is really the first time I've felt like there's no hope of us staying up. It's strange. Last season, I had a really strong feeling that we'd be very competitive in the PL, and after the great start we had, I'm sure everyone who watches English football was sure we'd be a safe bet for a mid-table finish. I just don't know what's happened. I do think we've still got a great Championship side, even after the inevitable summer departures, so hopefully we'll bounce back up at the first or second attempt.
jimmeh Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Not only 5 points adrift but with a worse goal difference so basically 6 points. So if burnley beat west brom at home then we need 2 wins and hope no other team wins around us just to be one point above relegation places People genuinely think we will stay up i think they are still living off last seasons glories
Dan Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 I've accepted it now. We're as good as down. It isn't mathematical but you've got to be pretty deluded if you think it would be anything other than an absolute miracle if we aren't relegated from here.
Tuna Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Can we apply to have the R put next to our name on the league table?
Raw Dykes Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Can we apply to have the R put next to our name on the league table? Haha! We should get some bespoke "R" PL badges for the shirt sleeves, as well.
Guest Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Burnley wil tomorrow and we are 5 points adrift And if they lose and their best 5 players pick up season ending injuries Burnley are down. You're such a negative nancy.
foxfanazer Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 I have to agree, it's not looking good. Not feeling too doom and gloom about it though, we're in a lot better shape than we have been before
Snooty Fox Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Actually NO. There are still some Crap teams there and we are still only 3 points in it..We can't just fpoking give up...We MIGHT get something out the big games where theres no pressure Got to admire your optimism pal, how many years have you been following City for?
