LCFC FOX Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Chris Wood - massively underrated. Can see him having a good career with regular first team football. He scored goals at every club he was on loan at.
MHC Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Another vote for Arnur Gunnlaugsson, maybe I was swayed by that left foot curler he stroked in against Derby but to me he looked like he had a bit of class but never got a run in the team - we had Heskey and Cottee steering us towards top ten Prem finishes so he never quite looked like he fit in with our team/style of play at that time. Oh my god. That Arnar Gunnlaugsson mention brought back a very fond memory for me. I remember that screamer, he was a few yards away from the box and seemed to hesitate, then all the Leicester fans started screaming "shoot" at him and that appeared to sway his decision. Fabulous goal.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Scored a hell of a free kick against Newcastle as I recall.
st albans fox Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Martin Henderson - really? Oh, and the blonde lad that levein brought from Scotland. Can't remember his name but I always thought he was better than everyone else did.
FoxLAD Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Martin Henderson - really? Oh, and the blonde lad that levein brought from Scotland. Can't remember his name but I always thought he was better than everyone else did. Stephan Hughes?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Max Gradel everyone thought he was great Genuinely thought he was gash Strangely love home now he is at St Etienne
st albans fox Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Stephan Hughes? that was him. always thought he had a decent touch and eye for a pass. wrong again eh !
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 The worst player ever.Swapped for a fantastic player,Jim Melrose. Never got over it same as you, rumour had it that we had a choice between Tom English or Mark Hateley, we chose wrong, badly. Simon Grayson, I never rated him at all.
Spence Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Absolutely rate Paul Konchesky. Don't ask me why because I couldn't tell you!
Kitchandro Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Gallagher and Wellens. They were both very decent players at Championship level, amongst our better ones in a period of frustrating inconsistency. Some people really hated them.
Kitchandro Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Thats me an idiot then.Always disliked Waghorn but liked Beckford although they were just as shite as each other. The difference was Waghorn was a trier and Beckford wasn't. In the same way I couldn't stand Yakubu.
ousefox Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Gallagher and Wellens. They were both very decent players at Championship level, amongst our better ones in a period of frustrating inconsistency. Some people really hated them. Have to agree with Wellens. The abuse he got on here was totally undeserved. In his first couple of seasons he was easily our best midfielder and one of the best in the league. Cannot believe the stick that guy got.
bovril Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Wellens was a 'pointer'. You know the sort. And he had a really wanky 'lad' kind of aura. He just wound me up. I don't think he's an abysmal footballer or anything, just another in a long list of slightly average players picking up a huge wage for doing very little. Yakubu scored one of the best goals in our history against Derby, Beckford got a hat-trick against Forest. Even if they didn't try they at least contributed some excitement to what was a frustrating few years. Try as he might Waghorn was just another Wellens - not terrible just average and dull.
Guest Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Frank Sinclair's been mentioned too. Always remembered for two or three 'clangers', yet his many decent performances are usually forgotten! Agree. Sinclair was pretty good for us for a few years. Went fairly unnoticed. All people seemed to recall were the howlers.
TOMBlcfc Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 I know it's often a joke but did people really not like Wellens on here? Was before i started coming on foxestalk. I personally thought he was great for us, moved on at the right time but often did a good job for us
lcfc81 Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 I used to think Hobbs was overrated and Morrison was great. How we can be blinkered with football sometimes!
The God Emperor Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 I never got the 'Beckford is lazy and has a bad attitude' thing. I just thought he was a shit player.
SpacedX Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 In the same way I couldn't stand Yakubu. Notoriously lazy. I'm informed by my reisdent 'skate' lodger that after introducing him to English football Redknapp became increasingly frustrated with his laziness to such an extent that he bet him 20 grand that he wouldn't score more than 20 goals in the Premiership. "Feed the Yak and he will score" sang the Pompey faithful...and indeed he did. He was on 16 by the last game of the season and scored four. After the match it was pointed out to Redknapp that he owed him £20,000 who responded that he would have subbed him after his hat trick if he'd realised. Harry tried to land his old mucker at QPR as recently as last December. He also once ran out of the tunnel in the wrong strip wearing home colours when playing away. Have you ever heard the guy speak? - for his size, he sounds like a chipmunk on helium!
AyewJoking Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 I liked Mark de Vries he just needed confidence and the right manager.
LCCFox96 Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 I always liked Jermaine Beckford as a player. The guy was an absolute asshole though! Thought we never got the best out of him but gave up defending him before the end due to his attitude. I'm not a big fan of Kasper Schmeichel. Decent keeper but there is something about him which is amazingly dislikable.
AyewJoking Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Goalie Paul Henderson, didnt rate him as a player but once I made a poster/banner plaquard if you will: SUPER HENDO took it to the game and asked a steward to bring Hendo over whilst he was doing his pre match warm up. He signed it and I also got to shake the great mans hand (sweaty).
