No wonder Liam is playing bad he's having to play with players beneath him. He's an England U21 international you know............. Oh yee of little faith.

Not read any reports, or seen him play for Brentford - but I like their style of play, so it's interesting how Moore fits. Moore's definitely a player who's let club position and boyhood fame 'is juan uv our owen' get to his head, and will to better himself, you could see that before he dropped down the pecking order at the end of last season. If anything, this is what Moore needs, a little bit of reality. Would do the lad a world of good to be dropped by the Brentford manager, teach him a few lessons, or he could end up like David Bentley.

Also interesting that some of these people are quick to accuse critics of our manager of 'enjoying' us doing badly.

I take no joy in Liam Moore under performing at Brentford however Nigel's decision making and judgement was questioned by a vast amount of our fan base when Moore was allowed to go on loan. Therefore to me it is very justifiable to use Moore's poor performances as a reason to show that the manager was right and that Liam is nowhere near ready to start for a successful Premier League side.
NewquayFox Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 I genuinely feel sorry for the lad, looking at the state of our defence this season he hasn't had a chance, you need games to improve your fitness and confidence and Pearson has given him nothing. His head must be in a pretty poor place at the minute, would love him to get a few decent performances and maybe a goal or two before the end of the season....

Some people are unhappy when he's not selected into the first team by Pearson, then there are some people who are not pleased when he's loaned out. Okay, that's understandable. But now he's supposedly struggling in the Championship and that's apparently Pearson's fault for not allowing him time to develop. If he's struggling in the Championship, I'd not want him in our team. I'm just a bit confused. I know it's not the sort of thing you're allowed to say but maybe he's just not good enough? Looking at it objectively, the 5th choice defender from the bottom of the league team goes out on loan to decent Championship team and struggles. I don't really think that's much of a story. PS. On the subject of centre-halves, well played to StLedger who's gone from playing for our U21s to training with Kaka everyday...

To be fair St. Ledge was more injury prone than a granny on ice, Nige dropped him he argued and was toldnhe wouldnt play for us again, he then found him self back in the team, but we cant have someone with that kind risk of being injured, except upson.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Meh - I don't think it's right to overhype players from the academy but it seems like for quite a few people there's no middle ground. He's either "one of our own" and the first name on the teamsheet for certain people, or absolute dog with no future according to others. Can't people just switch on and think that perhaps he's just a young centre half who's already progressed considerably with us under Pearson, is bound to be prone to the odd howler every now and then but has more than enough time to learn and cut those sorts of errors out of his game? By no means the finished article as of yet but who is at 22? I don't think it's right that he does get at times a very easy ride when others wouldn't from the more fickle sections of our fanbase just because he's an academy talent but neither do I think it's fair to label him "shit" etc. He's a terrific prospect, certainly better than Caulker (in my opinion) and a fair portion of people were spoozing when Redknapp snagged him for QPR for eight million quid. We must have some of the most impatient fans in Britain.

Thought the entire thing was genuine. Generally thought St Ledger was underrated. Yes he didn't deserve to be one of the highest earners but he's a solid championship CB. As for Moore he started the season so well, Him and Morgan both did against the big teams. Now they're both struggling and the team is struggling...
Ealing Fox Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 I live a few minutes from Brentford's ground, and I've asked a couple of season-ticket holder friends about his performances to date. The general view I got was that he's made a couple of mistakes but has been a good addition to their team. [if only you could get away with mistakes in the Premier league...] Of course they all remember him fondly from when he was on loan there a couple of years back which helps. He was substituted on Saturday, but no-one seemed to understand why - if it was tactical it was certainly beyond my mates, and he wasn't having a mare. They took the view that he might have picked up a knock, but that hasn't been reported Anyway, I'm off to see Brentford-Cardiff on Saturday and will report back [My eldest son chose Brentford above Leicester - thankfully the other two have stayed true to Leicester]

He's not even a DP, Kaka's on $7,167,500, the majority of the Orlando Team will have a wage similar to STL, which is very poor in comparison. Shaun Maloney is a DP, and he's playing at a level our Development Squad could probably compete at.

Of course, it's fine for you to do that. In fact, it's fine for you to slate the guy if you wish (I don't get to say what you can and can't do), though it's a shame that many of our fans are so impatient with younger players. A certain logic applies for some people to the manager, who requires unequivocal support even though his personal level of confidence at any given time shouldn't impact on the performance (many of our most self-assured managers have had horribly panic-prone sides to their name), while it's fine to haul our players over the coals, or even blame them entirely for our predicament in order not to have to criticise the manager, when we could actually have a positive impact on their confidence by not doing so. But it's a forum, I personally feel 99% of the criticism, so long as it isn't just abusive, is fine even if it's wrong, and even if it could filter back to players. I'm just pointing out that some people have, depending on your opinion, either been totally illogical or totally hypocritical on this score. However, I would still question Nigel's decision. I may be wrong but I think it was you who said there was no recall for the first 28 days, which means we're one injury - at any time in the next 2-3 weeks - to any one CB (two of which have just recovered from injuries, all of which are over 30) from having absolutely no cover in that position. We made a similar gamble on Schlupp once and it backfired (when our LB was out and we had to play someone out of position as cover, because Schlupp was out on trial). For Moore as an individual, however, the loan is a great move. And no, he shouldn't be in a PL side. Though Morgan, Upson, Konchesky and Simpson shouldn't either.
