inckley fox Posted 26 February 2015 Posted 26 February 2015 It's good news for Moore and might be good for us in the long run, but I'm not sure it's wise in the short-term. If we intend on playing three at the back then it leaves us with Wasilewski covering for three positions, two of which are occupied by players recovering from long-term injuries. In fact, of our four principal CBs, all of them are in their 30s and two of them in their mid-30s. Pace is an issue too. And if we're playing five at the back, Moore is arguably as competent as De Laet and Simpson as a defensive-minded right back. My concern is that some players are being given far less chances than others. Moore had three or four poor performances in a side in which lots of players were under-performing. In fact, if you look at those ratings we give players every game, and the average over the course of the season, we've rated Moore among our top few performers. Okay, so that's misleading because he didn't play much during our appalling run of form, but that in itself might tell you something. We should get one thing straight - Moore has looked out of his depth, but no more than Morgan has over the past few months, or Upson since his return, or Simpson at right back. And if we widen the comparison, has he been as costly in the games we've played as, say, Konchesky at left back? When I consider the few chances afforded to Knockaert, Albrighton, the (brief) dropping of Kramaric and Mahrez, the disappearance of Wood, the fact that Hammond can't get a look-in, the dropping of Hamer... while in contrast plenty of players have been given countless chances to show their worth (Vardy, King, Drinkwater, Morgan, De Laet, Konchesky, Simpson, Upson, Schwarzer, Schmeichel, even Nugent) - there seems to be an imbalance in Pearson's tolerance levels of certain players. The last two displays put in by Moore were a very strong performance in the Cup, followed by another in which he played with an injury, gave away a penalty and was taken off. Contrast this with how horribly out-of-his-depth Upson looked in his last game, or Morgan / Konchesky / Simpson / De Laet over a more prolonged period. At 36, Upson is unlikely to adapt, or improve, in the way Moore could between now and the end of the season. Yet by loaning Moore out we are essentially placing our faith in Upson for a prominent role over the coming 12 games. I'm not sure it makes sense to play experience for the sake of experience, especially when those players rarely put that experience to positive effect, or are clearly well past the stage in their careers when they should be playing at this level. And I'm positive that giving repeated opportunities to under-performers, while overlooking others who have come in and impressed, or have been given significantly fewer chances to overcome blips in form, shows a lack of even-handedness on the part of the manager.

RedSoxUK Posted 26 February 2015 Posted 26 February 2015 Brentford's a top club and will be great development for Liam at a fighting level with a chance to help BRENTFORD get to the Premier League, some much needed improvements to touch up on his game before he becomes identical to Morgan but with a better touch and pass. Disturbing to see Moore's City career stop at this level, never really looked confident enough at the back this season. Hope he does well at Brentford and comes back a better player. Would play him every week next season.

Looked out of his depths for large parts this season, and for the 2nd half of last season wasn't even 1st choice. Needs game time to develop but in our situation he is now 5th choice and too much of a gamble. Just as an aside I would hate to run the LCFC twitter page, literally every response is just negative bollocks.

No worse than Morgan and think it'd be beneficial for him to gain experience and education (learning from mistakes, something Morgan ain't doing) here. The only problem I see with that would be it might knock his confidence playing in such a shit team but without knowing the lad not sure if he has such a weak personality or whether he'd take it on the chin, I have a hunch he'd take it on the chin, deal with it and learn from it.
