I still play now and again. I just tend to try to complete my pokedex. Not really interested in anything else. Just need Blastoise and Poliwrath to finish the Kanto dex. Got wartortle as my buddy.

 

I just completed the challenge to evolve a magikarp. Annoying since I had a gyrados already (caught in the wild). I walked 275 KM with my magikarp. Took ages lol 

 

I do have a nice red gyrados now though.

 

I also annoyingly got the challenge to evolve a Scyther. I literally evolved a Scyther a week before I got the challenge. :mad:

I’m so close to level 40 now. Been grinding all weekend to make up 520,000 XP! Before the 30th November update. 
Only 92,000 to go! 
 

I’ve have to add about 40 new friends to even get close...

Me misunderstanding. The 12 Days of Friendship event ends and I thought that’s when the new Levelling Up change happens I.e. you can get to Level 50! If you’re Level 40 before hand you get a medal and an exclusive quest thing (and Gyrados hat!)

 

But that is the 31st December not 30th Nov.

Nidoran ♂/♀ Limited Research is pretty easy, managed to pick up both shiny in 30 minutes

For anyone who is a bit of a collector of memorabilia etc. this Poké ball replica is now available for preorder, comes out in February

 

£99.99 - Amazon is sold out, but looks like it is still available on Forbidden Planet and Zavvi (On Zavvi you can also get a free tshirt with the preorder, which is where I did mine)

 

They will also apparently being doing versions of this as Great Balls, Ultra Balls, and Premier Balls in 2021

Nice, I'm grinding them too, but to catch mon to fill out my options.  Haven't played since the initial release so I've got a bit of catching up to do...  On the subject of shinies, I'm not too familiar with some of the newer Pokemon so when I caught a green lurantis in a den raid I didn't think much of it because it makes sense that a grass type would be green.  Then I came across a patch of grass with a bunch of pink ones wandering around and started freaking out thinking I'd hit a shiny jackpot.

I had Sword on release day, sold it after a few months, got bored in lockdown and bought Shield. 
 

Whenever I play on it I enjoy it but i just don’t have much desire to pick it up on a consistent basis.

Rumours are Diamond and Pearl remakes

Feel like I'm the only one who doesn't think getting a Sinnoh remake is a big deal lol  I think it's the only generation that didn't really try to build on or change what came before.

 

Gen 2 fixed a lot of balance issues, especially the psychic/ghost issue, and gave us a whopping 2 continents to explore.  It gave us the steel and dark types and the special/physical split which imo is the single greatest change made to the game's mechanics.

Gen 3 gave us natures and abilities.  And it introduced double battles, forever changing the face of competitive pokemon.  I've got a lot of time for gens 2 & 3, they're where the magic really happened in terms of making the games what they are today and I say that as a card carrying genwunner.

Gen 4 used the same mechanics as 3, added some new pokemon and that's about it iirc.  I suppose getting pokemon into the online gaming sphere was that generation's big challenge for Nintendo.  And I guess after gens 2 & 3 it was always going to feel like less of a big step forward for the franchise with the core mechanics now much better refined.

Gen 5 brought us arguably the best core series titles in terms of actual storyline and game pacing.  It had the triple/rotation battles too which although they never really took off competitively, were a fun little gimmick for the single player campaign, I would've like to see these retained in future titles as optional in-game extras.  And it introduced the Deino line which I think is my favourite of all the non-originals, Hydreigon is a beast.  

Gen 6 and 7 are too recent to earn any nostalgia points, both introduced new mechanics (mega-evolution, Z-moves) which have already been made redundant, both feature storylines which are a massive step backwards from B&W and are honestly a bit of a slog to get through, but both also gave us some pretty cool new creatures like Mimikyu, the Draco-fossils, Ultra Beasts & Zygarde, etc. 

 

So yeah, of all 'old' gens I'd say 4 is the one I'm least excited about.  Still going to get rinsed for 50-odd quid by Nintendo over it though, aren't I? lol

Yeah it was definitely one of the generations that didn't really bring much feature wise to the series, pretty much only the global trade system

 

Have to say though I have been replaying through all the generations over the last year and platinum was definitely one of my favourite of the lot because I actually enjoyed the story compared to some other games! (Ultra moon is an absolute drag at the moment and taking a lot of effort to get through)

 

Would've loved a black/white remake but Gen 4 was the logical next step in remakes as 1-3 are what have been done so far

 

Although with this remake being done by the guys who developed Pokemon Home (with Masuda helping) looks like we could see more remakes/spinoffs in the future along with the main line games still being developed by GF

 

More Pokemon content the better for me! haha
