lcfcsnow Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Remember when Rob Kelly and Nigel Worthington came in and somehow galvanised two of the most dreadful City sides? Poor managers who were not long term options and although delaying the inevitable they helped us survive those seasons. It's took us so long to get here why not try something different for the last 10 games and reassess at the end of the season.
Clever Fox Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 The "put Cambiasso in charge" idea seems to be gathering pace. Â Why? Just because he's played football with big teams and consistently at a high level does not give any guarantees whatsoever that he can transfer that to being able to manage a team successfully. I agree it may not work maybe he doesn't have what it takes to be a manager. But think of his career to date as Education wouldn't you employ someone with a masters over someone with A levels. He may not have the man management skills but he sure would have every other requirement. Also the way he plays the game is a sign of a very talented individual. I think he would be a massive success.

I've always had a huge amount of respect for the job Rob Kelly done in keeping us in the Championship. As I've said before he got no help from anybody. No money to spend. sell a few players to get money in. Then got shafted by MM.
Guest Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 I certainly don't want to go through another season or more of big player turnover.
Clever Fox Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 I still think Pearson is the best man for the job. Â I certainly don't want to go through another season or more of big player turnover. Â I too thought he was here for a long time but that situation has clearly changed and that's his fault. The more I see of his actions this season the more I'm beginning to realise the last seasons success was more to do with the players and less to do with NP. Were going backwards and gathering pace. Â Players will be leaving no matter what league were in. as some are too old and some not good enough. So that's never a reason to stick. He clearly failed us last summer with his signings and then compounded it in January when he failed to bring in the creative midfielder we needed. He could even have got someone like houlihan on loan from Norwich who would have provided that creativity.Â

Karljohn Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Id give Cambiasso the last 10 games now, I bet we would take more points under him than Pearson.

katieakita Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Would certainly get Cambiasso on the training staff.
NewquayFox Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 The owners deserve Billy Davies for sticking with Pearson... The fans deserve Pep Guardiola because they are brilliant.....
nettle Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Why? Because he can't do any worse than Pearson is doing at the moment.
The God Emperor Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 If Big Sam wanted to come to Leicester I'd sack Pearson now. However I doubt he woud want to, he'll have much more attractive clubs than us fighting for his signature if he does leave West ham. Sacking Pearson to bring in a young and inexperienced manager stinks of wanting a change for the sake of change. Anyone who is brought in needs to be an improvement on Pearson. The likes of Howe, Warburton, Lennon etc are in the same boat Nige was at the start of this season, having never managed in the premier league. With Person we have a manager who (hopefully!) has learnt from his mistakes. I would sack him if he fails to get us promoted at the first time of asking, the squad we have is top 2 and the championship, as has been shown by this season, is utter dross.
inckley fox Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Even the most experienced and successful of appointments are a risk, look at how well we did with the unproven Little, O'Neill or even, at a lower level, Pearson. Success for clubs like us as often as not comes from surprise appointments. Look at how Pleat, Bassett and Sven backfired. Â That's not to say it's what we have to do. But if we are going to take a risk then we currently have an under-performing manager in charge, and ten games which could give significant top flight experience to a green manager. If we ever go up again, then having someone in charge with a quarter of a season in the PL to his name could be invaluable, especially if they enjoy something of a resurgence in the process. And, if they look like they're not up to it, we give ourselves time to rethink. Â You rarely get opportunities like this in football; a quarter of a season at the highest level to gain experience. In some ways it seems made for that 'hopeful' appointment who might just look the part.

Players don't always reproduce form, and we'll be going down with a much older side than we came up with, on the back of a complete collapse in form. Konchesky, Wasilewski, Phillips and Taylor-Fletcher will be either gone or ancient, and we'll most probably be without Knockaert, Mahrez (not to mention Dyer) on the flanks. Some rebuilding will be needed.  And, bearing in mind building a side for PL survival has to begin before you're promoted, and Pearson made a horrible job of it with adequate funds last time, do we really trust him to get it right this time? I'm not sure on what grounds we would do that.
Leicesterpool Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 I can see Paul lambert getting another chance, might be with us. Alladyce would want too much and I reckon he'l wait for the first premier league job next year. Something left field would be someone like Patrick viera. I did mention Lambert yesterday but thinking about it, I think he's too similar to Pearson. I like to see someone come in and play some attractive football, maybe Eddie Howe is a good call, done an amazing job at Bournemouth and at Burnley didn't do anything bad there. Either him or Nigel Adkins! Â Also Gary Rowett at Birmingham, done an amazing turn round there.
6ups 6downs 2 cups Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 How sad that a QUARTER of the season is still left and it's now in effect all about planning for the Championship next season.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Don't understand the clamour for Laudrup, to be honest.
Corky Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 I can see us ending up with Stuart Pearce or someone depressing like thatÂ
Monsell1976 Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 I would like to see someone like the lad from mk Dons, but with a old experienced head as his number two.
foxinsox Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 We are going down and are going to lose players via transfers and contracts ending. We will be needing to sign players to come back up, and need a manager who can bring them in on a budget. Most of those will come from current Championship clubs. Why would any decent prem player want to transfer in? We need a manager that can keep us the top of the Championship for a season. It all sounds like we need to keep Nigel, or at least someone very similar. Though he does look as if he needs a rest to get his head together, and if we do come back up then maybe replacing at that point or at least if not playing a lot better than this season.

Do we want to establish ourselves in the PL someday, as Pearson and Top have said on more than one occasions? Because if we do a manager who looks like he might be able to deliver that, rather than one who we've seen to be incapable, might be an idea. And do we want to go up at the third attempt with a man who, in doing so last time, failed to assemble a squad capable of the step-up, or improve them adequately when he got there? We'd either have to fire him straight away or go into the season knowing he had a very short time to prove he'd learnt a lot (which he's shown no signs of doing during the season).  We have ten games now to give one of those managers you've referred to a chance to show that they can adapt better than Pearson has. They might learn something which he has failed to. Looking in the long term, that could be invaluable.
