“We don’t make sense to purchase” no football club makes sense to purchase, they almost all make massive losses. They’re bought because people act a seat at the table, personal/brand awareness, sportswashing and for egos. We’re a premier league club in all but name but as a distressed asset we’ll be much cheaper - if you back yourself to install the right team we’re a better purchase than say, Norwich (even if we’re more expensive) because there’s proof of concept as a top 8 PL club.

I think a multi-club operation would be interested personally. For the purchase price having elite facilities, a really productive academy (£150m in sales this decade) and absurd name recognition would be tempting. We’re in this mess because of the owner and senior employees, if you own a few other clubs sorting that out is a quick win.

I know but the idea that we should know who will buy us was absurd. As plenty of people have said, we never knew who King Power were. My working theory is Top has had to inject some capital as mentioned on here the other day, he/the family has realised they can’t sustain that and that they do actual age to sell now. The genie is out the bottle now though and even our value is highest now whilst we’re selling assets off and it looks like we may bounce back up. If we didn’t go up and we tried to sell we have no value at all.

Players not playing on loan isn’t that much of a reflection of their ability. We played one of the best strikers in English football history on the wing whilst on loan. Tony Pulis didn’t play Serge Gnabry over James McClean

To create a chance you need a striker to make the right runs and be in the right place, Ayew never was. Players also need the framework from the manager and coaches which wasn’t there at all. Quite often Fatawu would be the furthest forward and have nobody near him which is what led to lots of the silly shots. He’s not perfect but he got caught more flak for not being on it than shit players did for always being shit.

He tailed off in the second half of the season (was still the only threat in some games like the winner vs West Brom, our opener against Birmingham) but so did the whole team, plus James was largely injured. He’d just recovered from an ACL injury too. Most people despise Daka and Ayew so which is it, Fatawu tried to do too much himself or he should have passed to those clowns? In the right set up he’ll absolutely fly, it’s a surprise he played as well as he did for most of last season given he had a finished Ricardo behind him.

We have our worst ever season where he was no better or worse than our other CBs, with pretty much no midfield cover and somehow if he was any good he should have single handedly kept us up. He's held to a higher standard than the rest of our central defenders despite not costing £15m ish and probably on 1/3rd of the wages. He has almost all of the raw ingredients to be a very good CB, hence why teams much better than us are interested.

Messi, dragged an otherwise crap Argentina team to the final. Until the final nobody was seriously touting Rodri. I'm a huge Rodri fan as well so this isn't Messi fanboying. Mbappe was probably better than Rodri too. Winning it isn't a requirement for POTT.

I think some of the transfer business has been so bad that people must have been on the take. Plus the agent fees we racked up only through selling players.

Had a few in London yesterday. Met a mate in the King Charles which is so reliably fantastic, then onto Hoxton. Howl at the Moon wasn’t to my taste, reminiscent of an Irish pub abroad and there was a schizo local pacing outside which was off putting. King William IV - great beer (Augustiner on tap) and food but dunno not very captivating. The Wenlock was fantastic, some Burton Bridge golden went down very well.
