I can't do anything about it. It's either going to happen or it isn't. But at least this way I'm getting a few things off my chest.

Leicester City is not Alan Maybury. Leicester City is not Elvis Hammond. Leicester City isn't even Patrick Kisnorbo, Gerry Taggart, Muzzy Izzet, Gary Lineker, Frank Worthington or Davie Gibson. Leicester City won't be Iain Hume next season even if he's still here. Or the season after that. It wasn't Martin O'Neill when he was here and it won't ever be Milan Mandaric either.

Most of all Leicester City is not anyone who is taking any sort of pleasure from this. I've spent the whole day feeling almost physically sick at the thought of what might happen soon. Even last season I never had this feeling. Even when we were in the relegation zone. There was so much time left to put it right. Last season Kisnorbo, Gudjonsson and Fryatt in particular showed something that meant you could trust them to pull us clear.

I honestly don't see that in a single one of the current squad. Kisnorbo in particular has recently looked like a man who does not know how to cope with the responsibility of captaining a failing team. This is where we are really in trouble at the moment in my opinion. Even our five or six best players (demonstrably from this season) have absolutely no experience of being a part of a winning team at a decent level. They can't draw on that experience and the result is that there's no belief that they are capable of any better. Maybe they're not.

At the start of the season the main focus was on Tiatto and Maybury being our first-choice wingers. Well now we've got Porter on one side and Shaun Newton on the other. Better? Yes. We've got Fryatt and Hume up front, we've got Wesolowski in central midfield, we've got Kisnorbo and McAuley at the back, we've even got Logan in goal. These are the players we want in the team. And do I trust them to get us out of it? Do I ****. I don't mind them not being good enough, it's not their fault. But if they don't bust a ****ing gut to save us in these past four games I will never be able to forgive a single one of them. This isn't about them anymore. I'm sick of them saying they have the quality in the squad to see us through. We clearly, clearly don't. But we can do it through sheer determination and hard work.

Most importantly, anyone who genuinely treats the idea of relegation lightly is pissing all over what the players and fans achieved on 11th May 1991.

But you're right quality departed us long ago especially when you get to this stage in the season. It's like the 12th round of a boxing match. Technique goes out of the window and it comes down to who wants it most. Who has the stomach, the guts and the mental strength for the battle. And this is what worries me most - a seemingly reserved manager and a bunch of unmotivated, inexperienced players - I hate to say it but the belief, the enthusiasm and the drive seems absent now.

What do we do then? Is it not at these points that the supporters of a football club come together and try try try to make a difference? After all most of us have been around a lot longer than ANY of the current squad. I've seen some rallying calls being posted today, urging the fans to make the difference, to sing louder, to bellow for 90 full minutes. This has to be the way surely.

When all looks lost, it's time for the fans to step up. Maybe, just maybe if we create the sort of atmosphere that's reminisced about so often on these pages we can give the players that extra push and belief and drive to work harder and dig deeper. No matter what they think now about their future at the club when they are on the pitch they are humans who WILL respond to noise, passion and loyalty.

I'm worried. I've banged on about how we won't get relegated in the last month or so. Maybe I was in denial. Maybe I was just naive. But now this really is hold on to your pants time and we have to do as much as we can as supporters of the club.

Make no bones about it relegation would be an absolute disaster.

well said - I fully agree with everything said, I'm not one taking relegation lightly - Leicester have never played outside of the top two tiers of English football and if we're not careful then then heritage is going to be all down the pan, just because of a few (or quite a few) lazy-arsed players who don't give a shit about the team, don't give a shit about the club, don't give a shit about the fans, and only care about that sum of money they get.

Even if we can pick up just a point somewhere before the Wolves game it would leave Hull needing a massive win to finish above us on goal difference

All the teams below us are coming into form, 50 is the mark, but I can see someone getting relegated with more than 50 points this season, one more win would get us 51 points, I still think we will be caught.

If you can get yourselves really revved up for a match, in this division getting a result against ANY team is possible.

I think it might reach a stage where they will.

Yes, they may not care about what happens to this club but they care about themselves, their own careers. A relegation isn't going to look great on their CV is it? So even if they don't want to fight for our club, they may well fight collectively for themsleves, therefore having a knock on effect on the team.

Excellent post, Fez. At last a battle cry. Leicester City is the fans, the city, the heritage, years of pain and one or two of happiness. The next four games are about those things and more. Better times could be just around the corner, but we need to pull together to make it around that corner first. Come on!

Leicester City FC have been in the top 2 divisions of English football for their entire history... if these players now undo what the club has so ardently fought to stop happening then it will be the biggest travesty in our history!

Well said, I often get on peoples backs for being simplistic when they carry not having a go about at the players and about getting down the Walkers and supporting the lads.

If we had nothing to look forward to next season but a repeat performance I wouldn't actually be to bothered, if we carried on like this without investment we were always going to come unstuck eventually anyway.

But this horrible part in our history should at hopefully start to turn round after this season and we might actually see some worthwhile football within three years even if we don't get promoted. We have three games left and we need to win one, if we don't we're going down I'm pretty confident of that.

Now is not the time to call Hughes a waste of space or complain about Mayburys lack of pace and inability to get forward, it's not the time to say that Nigel Worthington is not the man for the job. Despite our difference's in opinion on certain matters we all know where the problem lies at the core, our team isn't good enough or is not performing well enough. It's time to turn up on force and make as much noise as possible and if the wankers on the field don't respond that’s their prerogative, if they want to watch their careers take a serious turn in the wrong direction, and go down with a whimper, fine. At least I will know I've done everything I can to keep my football club in this division.

CHeers Fez got me fired up for my first League game of the season. First game i've actually not been scheduled to work on so decided that i should as a fan get to the ground and sing my heart out for 90minutes.
