  1. Took my Dad a couple of years to properly settle into his retirement. It's a big change, I think it's very understandable it would be weird for a while.
  2. I suppose a loan with an option is very low risk and at the very least he's clearly got some fighting spirit. Never a good sign when a forum is hammering him though, regardless of the fact we are not on a par with Feyenoord.
  3. Mersey ferries river cruise is something different and it's the best view of the city. There's also a kids science centre called Eureka at the Seacombe (Wirral side) terminal. Really good views over the city from Everton Park as well and there's a kids play area there too. If you've got time and the weather is OK, I'd recommend going up to Waterloo/Crosby or Formby beach. More facilities etc at Waterloo but Formby is easily the nicest spot and there's a squirrel trail to help try and keep the little one engaged. Both Cathedrals up on Hope St are worth seeing too. Sanskruti is pretty good. Duke St Markets is a good spot, its one of those places with various food traders and you just order everything by QR code. I can't really speak too well to child friendly stuff but I think a lot of places here are relaxed and will do what they can to accommodate you. I will try and have a better think about whether the spots I would recommend for coffee/lunch/dinner are OK for kids. Liverpool is a great city and it's very friendly, I'm sure you'll have a great time. Any questions feel free to DM me.
  4. I watched the QB doc when it came out. Bit better than S1, was certainly interesting to see a bit more from Goff and Burrow. Surprised they kept Kirk on again. Watched 2 eps of the cowboys doc but that was enough - Jones is so full of himself I'm not sure I can stomach any more. I watched a series of the Cowboys Cheerleaders doc and must say I thought that was really good. Very interesting insight to see how hard those women work, many of them until this season having to work several jobs to survive. Crazy really how exploitative they've been given the Cowboys is one of the richest clubs in world sport.
  5. I don't want Everton to do well but very happy for KDH. Looked like he shinned it on the replay!
  6. Heh, I think it's a bit much to suggest an old rhyme we say to kids to try and help them deal with people who are nasty to them is a "dangerous fallacy."
  7. I agree, and I would add to that that in general people are becoming far more individualistic too. Country first, my community first (whatever that may be), us first, me first. It all feeds into each other, especially when things are challenging and living standards are declining and inequality is rising.
  8. How odd.. I'm off to Toronto in 2 weeks with a few friends for a wedding. Really looking forward to it.
  9. I think that's a stretch. There's a big difference between not wanting to play a role which you feel doesn't put you at your best and thinking you are too good for the team in general.
  10. Good deal, wish him well. Pretty surprised they've spent that on him.
  11. My worry is that the combination of success and tragedy means Top has formed some very unique "bond" with the Club and he is incredibly unlikely to sell unless things get properly desperate. He will continue to coast and show us all contempt for a long time yet.
  12. Good money for him. Bit odd doing this now to a team in the same division rather than Sunderland last year. Wish him well, always a shame to see academy lads go.
  13. Luke's more skillful and moustache endowed brother..
  14. Finished watching Normal People last night. I thought it was excellent.
  15. I understand the point, in general it makes sense but he is so full of excuses. It reminds me of Brendan coming out with all that dross 3 seasons ago.
  16. Brussell's comments afterwards are great. Thank fvck we don't have to put up with him.
  17. Was just about to say the same thing price wise. Pretty depressing but we obviously need the money and you really can't argue with doubling up on your investment given the circumstances. Anyone thinking we'll hold out for £50m is crackers.
  18. I think it's easy to forget how big the drop off is to the bottom end of the championship. We have some shite but it would have to be bad beyond belief to get relegated from this division over a 46 game season.
  19. Came in here to post it. GRIM!
  20. His lack of defending for their equaliser is shocking. He's literally just jogging alongside their player and lets him cut in and shoot.
  21. It's all one big malaise. No leadership, some no doubt lacking confidence, no sense of togetherness, fans feeling apathetic/angry at the club and players. I think people overuse the word rotten but that is exactly what this is.
  22. I think they're having a very mixed year, most of the template stuff is shite, but there are some really strong bespoke efforts. I'm not convinced it really matters who we are with. You can have shit hot designers but if the person you're working for has no taste and is insistent on having their say on all the details then you will almost always end up with shit. We could ask for an anniversary kit but I don't think we'd give them the freedom to deliver something special.
  23. Yeah, the vast majority of Europe's best managers have all got this football malarkey wrong, Year of The Fox knows how's it done!
  24. I went to Malta last November and it was still mid twenties. It's relatively quiet but Valetta is lovely, it's good for snorkelling, doing some watersport and just ambling around coastal areas and having a quiet and relaxed break without too many English people. Worth considering if not anything special. I read a few posts in here recommending the secondary island Gozo but didn't get a chance to go myself.
