  1. If anyone is in Liverpool in the next couple of months there is a stadium exhibition on - haven't been yet but looking forward to going. https://www.riba.org/explore/exhibitions/home-ground-the-architecture-of-football/
  2. If anyone is in Liverpool in the coming months,
  3. Wouldn't put it past us. I think we will eek out a mid-table finish because of individual quality from the likes of JJ, Ramsey and Fatawu but we clearly don't have a lot of stomach and a few more bad results could see things turn ugly.
  4. This is brilliant. Slimey bastard is finally getting a little comeuppance!
  5. A good sign imo. More documentation/itemisation of costs is generally better as it means there is less grey area for potential disputes to arise. I would still suggest getting 3 companies to price formally when you've got proposals from your architect because pricing off whatever you've done is likely to include a lot of assumptions and is unlikely to be apples to apples. Also comparing just 2 quotes can be very difficult if there is a sizeable variation between them.
  6. I'm watching Sneaky Pete on Netflix at the moment. It's about a conman and I'm loving it. It's well made and all that but I had had the same thought about this.
  7. There are good small contractors out there but many are just blokes who learnt a trade but have no understanding of building science. I take your point re the BSA but a lot of this stuff isn't really to do with compliance (or safety) is it, it's about technical application and interdependencies of different components within a building. A private house could be broadly compliant but you could have loads of different issues because of poor detailing. Obviously the regs and British Standards do refer to detailing but in much broader terms that at a small domestic scale are never going to be policed in any way. There definitely should be more technical oversight on these sorts of initiatives though I completely agree. I didn't realise the spray foam was funded but knew it was an issue. External wall insulation can be very problematic but if done correctly can work, the spray foam between rafters on the other hand should never have been included. Anyone with any building knowledge could tell you from the get go that that was only ever going to cause serious problems. And yet many will have made good money from doing so. It's a fine balance with these types of initiative though. You need enough guidelines on how and when it is applied so that it doesn't get abused, but you have to make sure it isn't such a laborious hoop jumping exercise that the take up is a failure.
  8. This is always the problem with government backed initiatives for energy/construction related works for householders because there are always shysters who take advantage of the system and how ready it is to hand out money. I was reading something yesterday about external wall insulation issues over here - it was similarly something you could apply for a lot of funding for but because many people doing it had no technical understanding of the potential issues, thousands of people now have damp/mould issues that cost more to rectify than the original works.
  9. Getting to Net Zero will be difficult and costly that much I'm sure we can all agree. What I don't understand is frothing at the mouth at the idea that as a country we should produce more energy than we use and that fossil fuels are our old mate and renewables are the fvcking boogeyman. Oh, and comparing the energy sec to peados, rapists and murderers.
  10. Bloody Labour and Ed *Absolute c*** of our time* Milliband, its all their fault. Nothing to do with that lot in charge for 13 years.
  11. Absolute slimeball Brendan is, isn't he. Regurgitating the same old shite. I hope his failure continues and the Celtic fans make sure more people realise. I've said it before and will say it again, I harbour no ill will for any of our former players or managers broadly speaking, but Brendan is an exception to the rule. It is sad really given what he achieved here but he is so up his own arse and lacking in introspection that it is too difficult to see past how it all ended.
  12. It's always been awkward hasn't it. I love the prize round itself but I'm surprised they haven't ever found a better way of ending it or just changing it up somehow.
  13. I bet Bilo is creaming himself today, its a shame he had a hissy fit and left.
  14. Do t know how reliable this is butyrate would be unbelievably good 🤣 Down to National League. Jeeez man we all hate Forest but take off your specs man that is a daft thing to say.
  15. I wouldn’t say Halloween is a celebration of death at all and I've never even heard anyone else say that. It's a massive stretch. As we've said commercialisation has changed it, but it's origins are in a Pagan harvest festival. In any case I think there is plenty to be said for how badly western cultures deal with death, or more specifically don't deal with it. It is the circle of life, we all die someday. We should all talk about it more. Don't many Christians celebrate/revere the notion that they will one day be returned to God above them anyway? Isn't that a 'celebration of death'?
  16. I'm not mad on Halloween and I agree about the begging for sweets and some sense of entitlement. I'm glad I'm in a flat now and don't have to deal with it. But I find your suggestion that Halloween is a contributory factor to the mental health issues of children to be bizarre. I would be interested to read anything legit even suggesting a link. There are lots of reasons why many young kids (and adults) are struggling that are fairly well accepted such as issues relating to social media, phone usage, bullying, body image, lack of time outdoors, lack of exercise, poor diet etc. Many of them are intertwined. I don't think you will find exposure to ghost stories as one of them. Of course kids get scared by things for a period but that's just growing up. I don't know anyone who has ever had a genuine issue because of these types of thing. Honestly, it sounds like the kind of thing the Daily Mail would throw out as a headline... "Casper the friendly ghost cancelled over mental health impact fears"
  17. I don't really like Halloween and the gross commercialisation but no-one's mind is being poisoned. That's a very OTT take. Also, pumpkin is edible as are the seeds. Far from a "useless" crop.
  18. Interesting idea, I like it. My only thought is how that would impact different leagues. For example players in the championship could play between 50 and 60 games with a couple of cup runs, ignoring internationals. Whereas players in say the SPL or a smaller European league would have 20 less than that. I guess that's the point, I just wonder how it would impact different leagues and countries at international level when there are leagues with quite varying season lengths.
  19. Started watching Sneaky Pete on Netflix this week. Really enjoying it. Tried watching Sky series Riviera on Netflix recently, got to ep 6 and then binned it off. Something about the writing made it feel like amateur hour to me.
  20. I think Jatt has been banned from that by his Doctors.
  21. Can't see anyone paying a fee for him now and paying his silly wages for 6 months when they can get him on a free in the summer. If anyone offers a couple mil for him in Jan we should definitely take it though.
  22. I assume this is an autocorrect of demons No-one called Desmond is a bastard.
