Not sure what point there is hypothesising or getting excited about a potential manager change now. There's no way we're binning Russell off anytime soon.

It's not purely a question of recency bias though, is it? There are just different ways to assess it. On a numerical basis, on something close to how much of an 'upset' it was, a more abstract feeling or a combination of the above. Saturday is literally our worst statistical loss in the league in the sense that it is our biggest numerical loss in the lowest division we've been in and whilst the club is in arguably one of the most precarious positions of it's existence. You've mentioned the loss to Wycombe and the fact that that started a collapse into league 1, but then how is a 4-0 pasting at home after that sort of long systemic collapse not worse then the one at the beginning? For what it's worth I remember the Wycombe loss very well. I remember seeing the scoreline on ceefax as a kid and the video footage after on BBC Full Time. I'm not convinced people will remember the Oxford loss so much, but it's a bit contrarian to be suggesting the inclusion of Oxford is not even close.

Indeed. I think the worst thing about this, to add to the irony, is that there's a good chance that us appointing him now rather than last season, means he is probably going to more damage and take us even lower than he would've if we'd appointed him earlier.

Ehhh I'm a bit disappointed he's back here, but with that said Burnley is inoffensive and he clearly wants to keep playing as long as he can so fair enough. Ultimately I think he left at the right time. He's had (and is still getting) enough flack for our relegations despite the endless shitshow that is the club, coming back here would've been daft.

He's 22 and playing with his 6th manager in 3 years since leaving Sporting. He's going to improve, it's not a "huge gamble" at all. I can't help but think this is one of many posts that follows the sale of a liked player and has a certain tone to it.

I don't wish the bloke any ill but he is definitely up there as one of our worst signings by value for money. I still can't get my head around the fact he got in the PFA team of the season at Norwich. You do wonder what changed. I've also only just realised looking at his stats that he made 70+ PL appearances for spurs. Madness really.

I'm inclined to agree with the above - I'm not convinced it will affect him that much. Are people voting Reform really that bothered about him flaunting electoralrules? I doubt it. And whilst it changes nothing regarding the legalities, the fact that it was a setup will be heavily leaned on. "The establishment out to get us..." etc etc

I don't think anyone is mocking the lad himself, rather the ridiculous situation.

Glad we're getting rid, but you can just picture him somehow miraculously turning into a much better player for them when he leaves.

It's the same anywhere to a large degree. The best kits will typically be ones where the clubs probably have an idea but let designers go and do their thing without micro managing details. The shit ones will be ones where higher ups shoe horn/force things in.

In a vacuum that makes sense, but we have seen so many players we spent millions on walk away for nothing. We clearly have form for holding out for fees no-one is willing to pay and should therefore be deemed unreasonable. I don't think Souttar is going to be a moaner and he is definitely capable enough at this level that it shouldn't hurt us, but the club do not get the benefit of the doubt on stuff like this. The only question here is what is going on at SU behind the scenes, which may be a valid concern but in that case why would negotiating for more be ok?

That picture is Liverpool Lime St, not Liverpool St. Also I could be wrong but I don't think Liverpool St is being demolished, it's having a massive tower built above it. We lost a boat load of history in the 60s and 70s. I work in what was an old cotton exchange and there is a picture of the front end of the building in our hallway, it's incredible compared to the office block that got put in. We have improved at retaining our built heritage but we can still get better.

There's been a decent amount of rain over the last 24 hours or so this way. We need more but thank god, you can see so many trees really struggling.
