Wout Faes (Besiktas interest, Fabrizio Romano)
Edingleyfox replied to jonny_wright's topic in Transfer Talk
It is often said that players that want away should be sold and clearly Faes is unhappy at the moment and he has had a lot of stick from fans from previous seasons. He is a quality player at this level and probably as good as we have in the back 4. The worry is that half the team seems unhappy and there is no sign of the exodus stopping. -
Kasey McAteer (gone to Ipswich, official. 12m.)

Yes the worry is what the club is going to do with the money. Two or three up and coming players than can score/create and be a part of the future would be great. Buying older players on big wages that were great 3 or 4 years ago but are not playing much is the sort of unimaginative approach that I fear. -

Sounds like an Ipswich signing going for younger players. Get the impression Marti quite likes him. On his day he is capable of scoring maybe lacks the confidence or pace to get past players on the wing. Looked really good a couple of years back then got injured. Anyway with so few strikers and attacking midfielders fair enough assuming the money will be reinvested in those other areas (may be a foolish assumption) -

So if BEK leaves that is around £60m raised and not a single link to incomings. Fans deserve to know exactly what the situation is at the club. Pretty much no chance of promotion with no proven striker or midfield playmaker. -
With his recent injury £30 million isn't a terrible offer. Morale amongst fans and players would hit a new low if he went. I think sometimes he can be a bit predictable cutting in on the edge of the box aiming for the left corner although when it works it is fantastic.

I don't believe fans should greet players with abuse or boos when they walk on the pitch the episode with Faes and last year with Danny Ward wasn't great at all. If the guys are picked we should support them whether they are good enough or not. It is inevitable that there is frustration audible in the crowd and that is fair enough of course. I think a lot is aimed at players on the biggest wages but the why were some unproven players offered £70-80K per week often multiple times their previous salaries? That is not particularly the players fault.

I think it is a bit early to be critical of the manager. The team he selected should have produced a reaction to going behind early and 2 shots on target in 90 minutes is very poor. He needs to quickly sort out full backs being caught out of position and too many soft goals conceded without closing down and challenging the opposition. However the manager doesn’t have the calibre of strikers, central midfielder or full back available that suit his fast paced pressing style.with the odd exception. I suspect very little money be made available to correct that with the ridiculous wages paid to some players holding back any movement in the transfer market.
-
The manager has problems to deal with all over the park particularly if the aim is fast paced pressing football. Ayew is a competent utility player but not really a forward and Daka doesn’t look like scoring. Central midfield again looks laboured Winks is fine if not particularly happy but needs a partner with quick feet and passing ability. Both central defenders starting today lack cohesion and Okoli is not great on the ball. All the full backs seems vulnerable and get pulled out of position. New blood needed immediately or I fear a bottom half finish. I think the inability of the club to add fresh faces and simply making do hasn’t helped morale.

I'm quite worried about him defensively. You could see with the Huddersfield equaliser that he stood off the player rather than challenging. Against Sheffield Wednesday he easily beaten at the start of the move which resulted in their goal and before that had given away a needless corner. Of course he does have some good games but as you say consistency is lacking.
-
The manager is beginning to recognise that the team is slow not pressing or closing down etc and sounded frustrated last night. In terms of the midfield pairing we don’t know what is going on behind the scenes but it needs resolving. You can’t see a consistent goal scorer in the side either. I’m pleased has had a very good look at the whole squad over the opening games and I’m sure realises that although it is bloated in numbers not everyone is ready to step up. The manager might need to make a stand about early season sales because if Winks or BEK depart it will take some exceptional recruitment to plug the gaps.and Wilf leaving hasn’t helped.
-
I would accept £10 million for him. He is a great athlete but playing out from the back or under pressure he is a bit limited.
-
Winks is class at this level and brought some composure, control and passing that was lacking in the first half on Sunday. In fact at times the midfield was completely bypassed before he came on with Skipp being pushed forward and Soumare not providing adequate defensive cover. In the last Championship season he was the metronome spraying the ball around and keeping us ticking over. With BEK likely to leave it would be a step to far to let him go unless a better replacement is lined up and I find that hard to believe.
-
It is a worry that Leicester are getting linked to a few free agents and couldn't find £3m or so for Kone. I think thoughts of losing BEK for £30m and then buying say 3 players for £10m each just isn't going to happen

Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)
Edingleyfox replied to lcfc_forever's topic in Transfer Talk
Newcastle have struggled to get anyone in despite Champion league football so I can see them paying the figure that the club wants. The big worry is whether that money will be made available for transfers. Bilal is the only player that we brought in last term that you could sell at any sort of a profit so it worries me whether the club has done the homework needed to spend it wisely in the right areas -
Is there any evidence that Leicester are even looking for a striker although 3 have left in the last few months. We needed 2 central defenders to get yesterdays game over the line surely that is a reminder to the recruitment team or is there simply nothing in the kitty.

Leicester will be very short of creativity in the final third if he goes. Going to need Brownhill or similar and a striker and I've not seen concrete links to either. Probably go down to the final day and a couple of loans at inflated prices -
My only worry from yesterday is that offers will come in. I know last season wasn't the best and maybe being dropped has been tough but yesterday within 2 minutes he seemed to have the midfield under his control. With Wilf leaving it would be too much of a loss IMO
-
I wasn't sure about the choices in central midfield or at the back yesterday and Leicester started poorly. However I was massively impressed with the way the manager identified the lack of control in midfield and turned to Winks and made several other changes to liven things up. He seems to be able to think quickly and I liked the lap around the pitch to engage with fans at the start. The response to Faes from some fans was harsh and rather took way from our fantastic response to the Wednesday fans which won a lot of admirers in the media. I'm sure that the likes of Ben Nelson will get plenty of game time probably as soon as midweek
-
I really hope there isn't a huge debate going on at the club as to whether Kone is good enough. At £3m seems low risk and should be easy to move on if he doesn't make it provided we don't offer ridiculous wages
-
Mail on line reporting £18m plus £5m add-ons which sounds more reasonable.
-
How much better is James Trafford surely not nearly twice the price if £16 million is near the figure. Do seem to pay over the odds and sell on the cheap particularly in last couple of years
-
Surely Leicester are not planning to go into the next season without recruiting someone after letting 3 strikers go last term. I was also thinking Wilf scored 6 in the last Championship season so also look seriously short of extra goal potential from central midfield.
-
Sky sports say that around £3m plus add ons could be accepted. Surely with Wilf having his medical Leicester can afford a punt on him

Edingleyfox replied to lcfc_forever's topic in Transfer Talk
Well if he does go Leicester are going to be so short in terms of creativity in midfield which is full of number 6s . Suspect it will happen sometime this summer. -
Ultimately I in common with many wouldn’t buy a club shirt that promotes gambling so it is a bit short sighted in that respect. The club will waste a lot of the revenue anyway looking at last year’s business. Can the club not go back to companies we can identify with like Walkers crisps etc!!
