Our most disjointed display of the season. We have two forwards who, forget lack of goals ( and lack of chances too in their defence) who can’t even come off the centre half and receive a ball back to goal, so the ball repeatedly comes back. We worked hard but the difference between the sides was massive, and we were lucky to get a point. I know it’s early and we need additions but we don’t look coached to me. This is a relegation scrap now.

No manager since Enzo has played 2 number eights and two wingers. I wasn’t enamoured with that possession system, but in this league it worked. Why that blueprint wasn’t at least started by Cooper last season I’ll never know.

Fatawu should be left wing back with the emphasis on wing. Crossing the ball properly with his preferred foot to two Strikers in the box ( to air kick and fall over) Ricardo right side. But I’d be angry if they got anywhere near our box. Let the opposition worry about you. I’ve not seen proper wing backs since Impey and Guppy. Can’t remember them doing much defending either.

I thought we might be in trouble when I saw the subs together warming up before the match. I thought who’s there that can change a match? Then I saw them smiling and giggling and thought back to my playing days albeit senior league, if I was made a sub I had a face like a smacked arse and I was inwardly seething, desperate to get on and show that t**t of a manager how wrong he was. But they’re comfortable with it, and that’s not right.

And play Fatawu at LEFT wingback and Ricardo right and tell them to stay up and let the 3 centre halves handle the one forward they’ll usually be up against Hamza in front sweeping round to cover left and right. We haven’t got any full backs so I don’t want to see any again this season.

We’re shocking at attacking them and worse defending them, we don’t concede as many but why do a succession of so called coaches not leave at least two up? You’re not telling me that Fatawu, Monga or Mav actually do anything by staying back! And guess what, we’re doing it from opposition long throws now! No wonder we didn’t see the ball at the kop end second half last week. Call themselves coaches!

I agree with all you said, except chances , can anyone remember chances? The goat lived off scraps for 3 years at least and I can’t remember us making what I call chances all this season and last.

Hope so, he’s genuinely two footed. Watched him in the Southampton game playing on the left and whipping balls in with quality with his left foot ( how innovative, could it catch on ?!!! ) , yet took corners with his right. Age not on his side but would have improved us imo.

Who tackles in football now? I reckon there’s about four proper tackles a game now.

I’d be interested in the stats of Dhaka’s consecutive starts. I’m betting it’s never been six on the spin and I’d like to see him get ten, settle him down tell him his back to goal stuff isn’t bad , pick his runs carefully not fly about like a headless chicken. And if he gets 3 or 4 goals we may see a different player. It’s just he’s in the mindset of not being first choice and he panics. There may not be a player in there, up to now definitely not, but given the others I think he deserves 6 games running minimum.

And weighing in at 16 stone too, what’s he been eating pillows?

Yes, everyone bar Daka behind the ball. The most dangerous move of the match other than the goal was when Hamza bent a ball around their back four and Daka raced away and had a shot, we should’ve had men up there though to give him an option because the angle was wrong, but as I said all behind the ball.

Why don’t we ever switch wingers, Fatawu was nullified by their quickest player and should have switched left now and then. How rigid are coaches these days? Nobody plays off the cuff anymore. We looked so easy to mark last night. Double up on our wingers and we’ve nothing left. We’ve never played like Maresca’s team since he left, two number eights one number six joined by a full back. Hopefully the reintroduction of Ramsey will enable this.
