I think Enzo ball is the perfect approach for this game. They are going to come at us gung-ho from the start. Get it right with no silly mistakes, slow the pace, keep moving the ball around and it will start to frustrate them and the crowd and spaces will open up for us to counter. for this reason I would start Vardy. This game is perfect for him, and despite what some people may think about him being over the hill, defenders still are afraid of him. Need Winks, Ricardo, KDH to be on top form. If we can dictate the pace of the game we win this. Get sucked into a basketball game and we get beat.

Before I packed in working I had my own consultancy business. Whenever I was hiring, regardless of the position I always stated the salary/benefits package on the adverts. If the post was a junior one, then it was also made clear that there would be opportunities for training and development for the right people. I found this tended to attract a better calibration of candidates. when I worked freelance, I was so fed up of recruiters contacting me with offers of “competitive rates” which were invariably half of what I was currently charging for my services. So much time is wasted on both sides of the process because of the lack of transparency on remuneration and expectations of some job seekers. Those people who knew me through previous engagement or networking (most of my work was within a fairly nepotistic arena where there were perhaps only a few companies with the size and capabilities to undertake the work) knew my worth and would approach me directly if they wanted to hire. (So yes it is sometimeswho you know as well)

Seems to me that part of the problem in terms of atmosphere is acoustics and that many parts of the ground cannot hear the singing section. if that is the case why not move it somewhere near the centre and then both ends of the ground could hear and join in if they want. of course, the ufs chaps will say that it’s not the same and the Kop has always been behind the goal. Unfortunately those who had tickets in the double decker at filbo also want to stay behind the goal, as do many who frequented the kop in their youth but hung up their dm’s, grew their hair (and subsequently lost most of it) and now take a flask rather than a flick knife to games. i do not profess to know the answer, but the constant bickering between what appears to be the younger sections of the fan base, who seem to think that the older fans should simply give up their long held seats for them, and those who refuse to budge is becoming divisive and symptomatic of what is happening at the club. some would do well to remember that those who they call happy clappers have been supporters for decades, and by the same token, there needs to be some recognition that new blood is needed to become the next generation of fans, who hopefully one day will introduce their own kids to the lcfc family.

Pretty sure it’s along similar lines, except the fee is lower at around £12m
-
Whilst the fee in the summer does look high for an untried 19 yr old, it is only triggered if we are promoted and he plays a certain number of games. If he did not live up to expectations then he would not have been given the starts so no deal. as it is, they will get a decent fee, and we will have a good player with huge potential, who seems to love it here and whose value will increase rapidly if he maintains his current trajectory. it’s a win win all round really

Had my Car nicked from outside my house a couple of years back. Someone sneaked into the house whilst I was upstairs, took the spare keys and came back at night to drive it away. TBF police were straight on it but didn’t hold out much hope of me getting it back. Insurance paid out within a week. three months later I got a call from police forensics enquiring about some items found in the car, which apparently had been recovered, on false plates, about a month or so after being taken. They were surprised I had not been informed. I can only presume that on recovery, a dvla search would have shown the insurance company as the owners. annoying as I had a fair bit of stuff in it which the insurance did not cover, which I might have got back had I known. Police did lift prints from items found that I told them were not mine. Interviewed a suspect who they could place in the vehicle but denied actually stealing it. The interview took place inside prison, where said suspect was already serving time for.....yep serial vehicle theft.

So many deriding the club for getting in a mess re ffp yet a couple of years ago the same people were moaning that we should simply offer the likes of youri a new contract on £200kpw to get him to sign a new contract. can't have it both ways. I want a ferrari but can only afford a vw. Either I do the best I can with the latter or sell my soul get the former and end up in bankruptcy court.

Starting tonight

The rich clubs will be the only ones who will be able to buy any sort of quality. they will drive prices down, as clubs will be desperate, hence leaving those clubs with even more difficulties balancing the books and scratching around the lower leagues for bargains, whist at the same time selling their academy players to each other for inflated fees just to put them outside of other clubs reach. The only up side to this is that it might give more opportunities to home grown talent.

See the "big" teams somehow all managed to get pretty cushy draws again -
FA Cup 5th Round Draw - Bournemouth Away.

Pretty much 50/50 we draw a PL side. home draw against Luton, Bournemouth or non PL team would do for me. A decent draw for us, hopefully all the “big” teams drawing each other and it’s wide open -

Albrighton rolling back the years today. Not just his crosses and driving at defenders, but he showed some deft touches and quick feet a few times too. Fatawu excites me but Marc deserves more game time. Sometimes his understanding with, and ability to pick out Vardy is almost telepathic -

Harsh on Vardy there. Looked just on to me. Third time he has had it the net this afternoon. Not sure the first was a foul either -

So albrighton and Vardy are past it then -
Maybe, if Alves is as good as is being suggested we feel we have a ready made replacement to step in. If so £30M would look appealing to balance the books in respect of FFP

All this “but we have not been convincing and battered everyone 5-0” talk does my head in. Has everyone forgotten that run of 1-0 wins in 2016 that basically secured us the PL title? Any win is 3 Pts, whether it is by one goal or five, against the bottom team or one of the rivals at the top. The record books will simply show the total points and final position at the end of the season. Nobody will be bothered about how we performed in any individual game. any team can go on a sudden run of wins, or experience a collapse in form etc as we know only too well from our failure to secure top 4 from seemingly unassailable positions, but that under a different manager and a largely different squad.

Just to Chuck my twopenneth worth in. i consider a club legend to be someone who has contributed significantly above and beyond their contemporaries, or expectations. This does not necessarily equate to pure talent, longevity or achievement, although these are factors to be considered. what also counts in my opinion are things such as commitment, loyalty and ultimately memories that remain in the collective. so, who do I consider to be club legends? In no particular order King. for his loyalty from academy to his medals and still being our all time top goal scorer from midfield Vardy. For being who many consider to be our GOAT (although recency bias has to be considered here) and the fact that he recognised our faith in him and turned down Arsenal Walsh. Again loyalty, our captain fantastic of his era. Although he was a red card walking we loved him for it, especially the Steve Bull fights Albrighton. Sneaks in for his CL goals, the image of him simply standing and staring up to the stands having just won the FA cup, being mr reliable and a model pro Lineker. For his goals, being a local lad, putting his own money in to save the club and being a fan The Birch. The infamous kiss. Becoming a convert and his obvious love for club Chandler, Rowley and Sep Smith. Way before my time but standout players of their eras, clubs all time top goal scorer and the legend of the birds Ranieri. I would not consider him our best ever manager, but made the dream come true. Right person, in the right place at the right time last but definitely by no means least, Kuhn Vichai for making the most successful period in our history possible There have been better, or more skilful players but some of those either blotted their copybook, disrespected the club or just never caught the imagination of the fans All opinion of course

With the amortisation in the case of extended contracts, if the club decide to spread the remaining value over the length of the new contract, then the depreciation of original cost slows down so the players book value remains higher for longer no? if so, then this can help to show a smaller expense year on year and hence help in terms of ffp profitability, but on the other hand, it means that the player, if suddenly surplus, has to be sold for a higher fee to prevent a bigger loss in any given year. Obviously, the longer the remaining contract term the higher the fee the selling club can demand, compared to say a fire sale where the players contract is running down, providing anyone is prepared to pay it. it really is a massive headache for those whose job it is to get the balance right, especially when you consider how many players a club will have on the books at any given time, and it only takes one or two poor investments to throw the whole thing out of kilter

FFP hits hard in the real world, and … maybe we should rethink?
urban fox replied to KingsX's topic in Leicester City Forum
It seems to me that, with all the noise around Everton, forest, and Man City even, many clubs are finding themselves in the same boat. Suddenly scared of falling foul of ffp so cannot afford to sell players at a loss, whilst at the same time cannot spend unless they do sell someone who nobody is prepared to buy at their current valuation. It’s all a bit of a catch 22 brought on by clubs themselves paying inflated prices and wages over the past few cycles. In the shorter term this may well push transfer fees down in the case of all but the most elite players, but In the longer term when agents realise that their cut of any transfer starts to get eroded, the entire transfer system could well implode and we will see players signing shorter contracts, simply running them down and moving on frees at the end of said term to the highest bidders wages wise. (And we all know who they are!). This would put even more power into the players and agents hands and super rich clubs will happily encourage this unless some form of salary cap (including all signing on fees and bonuses) is introduced. -

urban fox replied to KingsX's topic in Leicester City Forum
Yes you could and any fees are pure profit so you have a bigger kitty to keep you within ffp when buying in. This is what chelsea have been doing for years, snapping up all the best talent and then loaning out and ultimately selling for decent money -

If the club really need to bring in a big lump of cash quickly, surely could they not move the womens team training facilities to Seagrave and sell off Belvoir drive to a developer. Got be worth a few million. You could build a fair few houses on the site.
