Steve McClaren Sacked

I know they had a pretty awful run in the final stages of this season but to be fair he did change them into a competitive side almost overnight as soon as he took over. Some great attacking football last season and they were unlucky not to get promoted. There were many of us calling for NP's head after bad runs it look what happened when we stuck with him! Can see them falling back in to lower table mediocrity next season and McLaren moving on to better things.

Is he?

Would make sense. Plays a similar kind of game to McClaren and has done a better job at Brentford than McClaren did at Derby.

Isn't Paul Clement almost already confirmed?

What is it with the myth that Clough did a good job at Derby?

2008–09 18th
2009–10 14th
2010–11 19th
2011–12 12th
2012–13 10th
2013–14 14th*

That record looks pretty shit to me.

Fair enough, to me at the time he seemed to be doing a fair job and i'm just carrying on what I thought at the time.

I think they were going through a struggling time weren't they and Clough stabilised them and in the latter years got them competiting towards a play off spot (12th, 10th and 14th - In the Championship can be not far off a play off spot)

Just had a look infact.

2011-14; 12th - 11 points off play offs, not that close, but 'up there'.

2012-13: 10th - 7 points off.

2013-14: 14th - Infact you have got that wrong, they actually finished 3rd. So you may be wrong with the years before I have looked at but i'm not going to bother looking back. Albeit Clough got sacked during that season and McClaren came in - Perhaps thats where you are coming from with the 14th place position, is that where they were when he was sacked maybe?

Personally I don't think Clough did that bad with Derby though.

They were 14th when he left in 2013/2014

Just had a look Derby had just been relegated from the Premier League when Clough took over so not struggling exactly, but as we have seen with alot of teams relegated from the Premier League they struggle with life back in the Championship.

Anyway, McClaren's been sacked!

Ancelotti maybe! Sacked by Real

Obvious that would happen considering they didn't win the Champions League (or at least make the final).
