Banks Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 As much as Wes was great towards the end of the season, I'd want Cambiasso or Kasper to be captain.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 IF Cambiasso stays let Wes keep the armband let Cambiasso be the captain like we did this season, worked well.
MGLCFC Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 Cambiasso if here. He's such an inspirational figure on the pitch. He reads the game so well, understands what is needed and organises the whole team superbly. Make Morgan club captain.
General Smuts Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 Cambiasso if he's here, Kasper if he isn't. He won't strip Morgan of it though. No chance. Ideally he surreptitiously appoints Cambiasso or Huth as Vice Captain and then we have such an upgrade at the back 3 that Morgan isn't on the pitch and they are the de facto captains.
Rob1742 Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 He won't dump Wes. And Wes is well respected within the camp.
Number 6 Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 I like Morgan and am not opposed to him starting games for us next season. He doesn't seem to do on pitch captaining though. Both Cambiasso and Huth appear more vocal in organising the team and Cambiasso seems to naturally occupy that captains role. However, they both did those things without the armband so perhaps for consistency we should stick with Wes.
dmayne7 Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 Cambiasso not being captain is a good thing. Makes his leadership a bonus and not a necessity. Honestly think the next captain should be King if he plays like he did this season. Seemed to do pretty well last time he was captain.
LCCFox96 Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 Wes Morgan will stay as Captain and as long as he is playing then that is the correct thing to do.
sphericalfox Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 - I started this thread last year and got slated! so it's your fault Wes became a fictitious liability! I think Wes should remain captain, with maybe Fuchs as vice?
Nick Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 so it's your fault Wes became a fictitious liability! I think Wes should remain captain, with maybe Fuchs as vice? We'll have to wait and see who we sign as a few big names can alter the dressing room quite a bit. I'd be all for shaking it up personally and telling Wes he's gonna have his work cut out cementing a first team place this season and to hand the Captaincy to somebody who can communicate, organise and has the respect of the players - somebody along the lines of Esteban or Fuch would be in my opinion of the right mould, however it's the managers call after seeing how the players gel - If Cambiasso stays, he's a leader on the pitch anyway so no need to give him the Captaincy, especially not for one more season only.
1993fox Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 James or Nugent. King in with a shout too. In fact, anyone but Jeffrey or Riyad Matty James is a shit player and I've always felt that way. Genuinely never understood the hype behind him.
LAprice_ Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 I think Morgan should remain captain for several reasons: 1.) He leads by example. He may not be the best player at the club, maybe not even the best centre-half, but he's very professional. For someone so physical, you'd expect him to be a bit prone to getting involved in mishaps with opposition players and yet I can't remember Morgan ever committing an overly reckless challenge or making himself known in "fights". He comes across as very level-headed. 2.) We finished 14th. There's so much more to the captaincy that we don't actually see and I doubt it's just a coincidence that his leadership has coincided with our recent success. 3.) Cambiasso wouldn't want it. Of course, I'm just assuming but from what we've seen, this guy is ridiculously modest. He doesn't need the armband. He cares far too much about the "team". Who can remember that game when Morgan was subbed off, he instinctively ran over to give his armband to Cambiasso and he was turned away, instead being told to give it to James. 4.) The armband is merely symbolic. Once they're on the pitch, Schmeichel, Morgan, Huth, Wasyl, Cambiasso, King and even Vardy are constantly pointing and giving instructions. With the addition of Fuchs as well, we really are a squad of leaders.

justfoxes Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 A carrot in the cambiasso contract for another season give him the captains arm band? Would make a better captain than Wes !!
Bryn Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 There is absolutely no value changing the captaincy. Kasper and Cambiasso lead on the pitch, they don't need the armband to do it. All ditching Wes can possibly achieve is lower morale.

I think Wes defo put a shift in last season, and dependant on the formation, which might well not change, as it proved pretty successful when cemented in the last games, so I think he'll play, keep the captaincy and we'll see Fuchs in the vice role. Schmeichel will do his thing regardless, and if Cambiasso stops on, he'll do the same as you said. Having a team loaded with authority, level-headedness, and organisation is getting me all sort of tingly.
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 Does anyone actually know if Cambiasso is leaving? There's an awful lot of assuming going on. If he isn't leaving, he'd be captain for me.

Xen Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 I'd hope we bring in a better player than Morgan, meaning Morgan doesn't play every week. If that did happen then obviously the captaincy would go to someone else and my immediate choices would be either Huth or Cambiasso. Morgan to remain as club captain though. Couldn't agree more.
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 Have you been drinking? You bantering again buddy?
foxfanazer Posted 3 June 2015 Author Posted 3 June 2015 You bantering again buddy? Might start referring to myself as the banter king. I'm sure that will go down well on here
