Witch Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 Explain me your logic, cause I'm not following it. Fuchs's previous club got only demolished in CL, when he was playing there. In the season 2013/14 he spent more time recovering from injuries, than playing, last two months of the last season he spent on the bench, he was never even close to wearing armband anywhere and lately he cannot even make it in the Austrian national team, which actually sucks. And ya bunch are already considering him a candidate for our captain? Better wait and see what he shows on pitch, ya know.
Monsell1976 Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 Huth or cambiasso, probably Esteban as he is probably more vocal and experienced.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 Was about to go on a tangent about the lack of importance of a captain but LA Price covered all basis. You don't need the armband to be a leader on the pitch, and the great atmosphere and spirit that is so often praised has came in the last 2/3 years with Morgan as captain. In the last 6 games Morgan was also our best defender, can praise Huth and rightly so but Wes should be starting next season on merit.

diddyp0027 Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 A carrot in the cambiasso contract for another season give him the captains arm band? Would make a better captain than Wes !! Totally agree with you, Cambiasso has been leading the team since March, Wes has taken a back seat I think we will be seeing captain Esteban in august!
Grewks Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Does it matter? Wes has been captain all season, has that shut cambiasso up? Did that lead to Huth not trying to lead/help the back line with his experience when he arrived?? Has Kasper just kept his mouth shut all season??? NP wants all his players to be leaders, like he was himself as a player. There are not many managers in the premier league which achieved what NP did as a player, he knows what he wants.
Jattdogg Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 I say we stick with wes. Ive never really bought into the whole captain thing per say as everyone should be a captain (thats on the pitch). That said i think wes has done a great job this season and no real reason to take it away from him. If we were to sign a "natural" leader of like a gerarrd/terry type then that could change my opinion.
shailen Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Why isn't Wes a leader? Some captains lead by example and regardless of what people on here have been saying all season, he has been one of the best defenders in the league on statistics. He had a bad spell for about 6/7 games but apart from that he has been immense. As much as I love Cambiasso, it sends the wrong message to appoint him captain when Wes has not done anything wrong. Morale, Confidence and Team spirit are things that could get affected by changing captains. It's not FM where you can appoint a new captain every year.

NotTheMarketLeader Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Big Wes for me. Mr dependable, performs week in week out, just what a captain should do, captained us to record breaking promotion year & 14th in the Prem I think Huth or Cambiasso are better captain material, but Cambiasso won't be here & I'd sooner Huth concentrate on what he's doing Club legend Andy King though? I like Wes. However keeping him as captain solely on the basis we finished 14th, to me, does not seem a good basis for choosing your captain. I don't think he's Captain material, in terms of his personality on the pitch. As for the claim he performed week in week out last season? Well he did that literally, but there were two or three months when he was truely shocking, and but for a lack of options on the bench, he should have been dropped. You should'nt be sweeping that under the rug. I would not be opposed to looking for someone better as a long term replacement for Wes now, despite his good end to the season. If he stays without question Cambiasso should be the call, although that isn't a long term call, simply because of his age.

Fair point. For me Wes has been one of our better players apart from around 6 games this season so I do not see him being ushered out the side , but if we do get a few quality CBs, where he no longer is first choice than he should not be made club captain. Personally I don't think we need to replace him, and if we get Huth and another good CB with Wasyl and Moore as backup we will be okay. I think a winger and another CM Is needed if Cambiasso leaves, and that's more of a priority for me.
sylofox Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Don't see the point in changing it if we're still playing Wes and he's still playing as well as he has been. But he is no captain or leader. We have had one on the pitch all season doing what Wes should have been doing. Cambiasso no brainer to me if he stays he should get it. If we make a change that is.
Freesolo Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 I voted cambiasso but thinking about it now there is no need to rock the boat would stick with morgan
Tom's Pasta Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 What on earth would be the point in changing the captain, it would have a negative effect if anything

ThisToo many people seem to be overlooking the many problems we had this season. Apparently because we finished 14th everything is great and we don't need to change much.
hackneyfox Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 What on earth would be the point in changing the captain, it would have a negative effect if anythingYou don't know this.
Nod.E Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Cambiasso is our captain whether Wes wears an arm band or not.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 If he is still here, then Cambiasso would be my choice. He is both vocal, commanding, and would lead by example.
Lestoh Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Still a bit disturbed by the fact our captain has a Forest tattoo. Then again, I'm disturbed that we now have two 'elbow star' tattoos in the team. So many disturbing tattoos.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Wes is well respected within the camp. I'm not a huge fan of Morgan but that's true, he's very popular amongst the players and management team. Wouldn't complain though if either Huth/Cambiasso (if they return) took the armband. As Rob also said, it'd be a surprise if the captaincy changed.
