scinnell Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 The title of this has John Rudkin in it, but rather than talk about what he may not or may have done in terms of transfers etc I can give you two pieces of information. Both are from reliable sources which I heard seperately. 1. When we were bottom of the league and doing badly, Rudkin was out drinking with his old local pals, telling them that ALL our players were shit and not up to the PL and never would be. With one exception - Schlupp! 2. He does not get on with Pearson, and was very much involved in wanting his job during the "Sacking Gate" episode. Make of that what you will. I have also heard that he does not get on with Pearson too.
shen Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Not sure why that's improbable. Stupid maybe, but people are quite often stupid. And pissed. True, the porngate lads being a case in point. I would just expect more professional and loyal behaviour from such a long-serving staff member holding such a high position.

DB11 Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 I don't think Rudkin gets on with anyone over the age of 18 And I'm going to clarify that by saying that I mean he only likes the youth players of LCFC and nurturing/developing them and bringing them through to the first team
midland_red Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 what was imnpressive about the Fuchs signing is how it went through under the radar (just as Pearson tried to do with CAmbiasso last year)
fleckneymike Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 It seems improbable that the DoF of a Premier League club would criticize all the club's playing staff in a public area, in amongst close friends, no? If he is being this unprofessional and mischievous, then surely this is something that is known within the club too. As implausible as it sounds it is true. I've heard same story from two separate sauces, neither of whom I assume is Shen.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 Since its been very quiet after a couple of hectic days, I thought I would post on here to say how refreshing it is to see us doing our business the way we are & the quality of player we are looking to bring in. A massive hats off to Rudkin & Walshy so far in this window, long may it please continue!!

midland_red Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 The 'great escape' plays its part too. To an external player, this shows the great spirit in the squad and also momentum going into next season. It all of a sudden makes us look a better bet for survival than one or 2 others. Talking of top 10 finishes promotes us as a forward thinking progressive club and that will be far more appealing than a newly promoted team or a team that seemingly fights for survival year on year. The 14 the place finish also puts a bit of distance between us and the drop so for players who less closely folllowed our season, we also look a better bet than the 3 that finished below us and stayed up Quite right - the palpable sense of ambition around the club is important too...

UpTheLeagueFox Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 Rudkin and Pearson weren't that close by all accounts.
Soar Fox Posted 2 July 2015 Posted 2 July 2015 Rudkin and Pearson weren't that close by all accounts. Would Rudkin have had any influence in him being sacked?
Babylon Posted 2 July 2015 Posted 2 July 2015 Ha so we're going to go from... oooh isn't John Rudkin doing a splendid job, to bloody Rudkin it's all his fault get rid he's shit in a few days.
davieG Posted 2 July 2015 Posted 2 July 2015 I've never really understood what's so special about this guy he's been in charge of the development of the young players for a considerable length of time and yet the outcomes have hardly been prolific. For those that are saying without the owners money Pearson's achievements would be much less what does that say about Rudkin because money has been poured into the development side and yet there doesn't seem to be many if any outstanding potential PL prospects pushing to get in the 1st team squad.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 2 July 2015 Posted 2 July 2015 I said in another thread that Rudkin would certainly have a big involvement in the sacking, as he tried to engineer it in February. For me he has got too big for his station, no idea how he got the DOF gig considering only 3 youth team players in the last 10 years have really came through for us.
Ollie93 Posted 2 July 2015 Posted 2 July 2015 As I stated in the manager odds thread. Rudkin is heavily involved in this, Pearson and him didn't see eye to eye. Leicester will make a move on Lennon soon as him and Rudkin do.

Thracian Posted 2 July 2015 Posted 2 July 2015 I've never really understood what's so special about this guy he's been in charge of the development of the young players for a considerable length of time and yet the outcomes have hardly been prolific. For those that are saying without the owners money Pearson's achievements would be much less what does that say about Rudkin because money has been poured into the development side and yet there doesn't seem to be many if any outstanding potential PL prospects pushing to get in the 1st team squad. We've not been great producers from the development section historically. Andy King, Jeff Schlupp, Max Gradel and Liam Moore represent recent success and some might argue that Billy McKay hasn't done bad, nor did Richard Stearman, James Wesolowski (given his torrid time with injury), or even Joe Mattock (for all that both his character and ability were so blindly over-rated). Our success in Academy League competition - and abroad in the Far East (football I'm talking about) - has been exciting at times although we've not seemed to have done much good in the FA Youth Cup - when our poor performances have too often matched the results. But has the above all been down to the Academy people? King, Schlupp and Stearman are the only players I've noticed here who categorically improved as players since moving into senior football at Leicester. There might be a case for Moore and Gradel though it's debatable. But, generally, there's not a lot of either improvement as I've seen. Or opportunity in some cases. Fans would much sooner import established "stars," with any recognition of progress by our own youngsters being "grudging" even now. I've wondered before why we even maintain the Academy except as an important social service because it's hard to see how it will ever make money as part of the business plan though I hope I'm proved wrong over time. There seems to be no particular commitment to bringing a certain number of players through each season - by that I mean the genuine involvement of two or three new prospects a year. The impression I get is it's too risky. Liam Moore's perhaps the best contemporary example. He's come and gone from what I can see. Very close, but not quite big enough and not quite good enough. Hasn't that been apparent for a while though? He'll be good enough to make a career in football but probably not in The Premiership. As I say, the Academy's basically a social service. It develops largely low-level professionals with Logan, Sheehan and Dodds also among those who didn't kick on after hitting the first team or its fringe. We don't develop nearly enough of the kind of talent brought on by Southampton so there's no-one in our Academy needs to feel smug with themselves. I just think it's better than it was...and so it should be with the money chucked at it.
