Cambiasso to stay? It depends on the Mrs

Can't see him going to Turkey - the league's nothing special, if you look at the big names they've been linked with recently I can only assume their pull is the money, and if it's money he wants I'm sure he can get better offers.

not that big with regard to money if the reports are right that RVP is getting just over 70k pw. A 3.4m a yr contract. We could have paid that.lol

Bestiskas just lost Tolgay Aslan for six months, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to think they would make a last-minute offer to Cambiasso.

I don't think Jace said he would be having a medical this morning, so it should be announced within the next couple of hours based on that.

Any other player and we'd all be saying 'fvck off if he dont wanna be here' etc.

Want him to stay but this is quite frankly bullsh!t.

More absolutely baseless speculation.

I get how people can discuss this but people throwing their toys out of the pram when they have literally zero idea what goes on behind the scenes at a football club.

Where is the speculation?

All i'm saying is if it were say Ulloa in this situation, the majority would take the lack of a signature as a sign that he isnt really that committed to us and can do one.

We all want him to stay but surely he would have known before now all the offers on the table and made a decision.

Weeks before the season ended clubs everywhere knew his contract situation. I find it hard to believe that his brother wasnt in contact with them.

Would they? We've only just appointed a new manager. All this 'committed to the club' shit is a load of bollocks anyway. 99% of players are going to look after No.1 100% of the time. I don't resent that like some people, it only happens in sport because people have emotional attachment.

There's logistics such as his family to consider, does he want to spend another year in Leicestershire? Have the club made a presentation to him about a 5 year plan that could involve him? Again, back to family matters, if the club have done something like that then is that something he wants to commit to?

This is all before you've even got onto the actual contract negotiations or offers from other clubs.

A bunch of adult men sulking that a player hasn't signed yet during the twilight of his career and a turbulent time at the club. It's pathetic.

i agree and despite what other people think, if he does commit to play for us again, it will make me annoyed that he has missed a part of pre-season. I love the guy, never wanted a player to stay more than him and since he has been here he has showed no signs of being too big for his boots.

I accepted that he may hold fire on signing until the new manager was in place. The representatives have had all summer to sort out terms and agree them or decline them.He turned down West Ham in a heartbeat so must have made some decision by then.He is either holding out for a bigger club, more money or wants an extended holiday or it's done and dusted and the club are waiting for the right moment to announce it?

If it is the latter, fine - the other 3 - not fine..

if it is the 1st 3 reasons, I am a little disappointed. I am a firm firm believer of 'team' and that is why I love him so much - He came and became part of the team, not the big hotshot, a team player.

Missing the hardest least enjoyable part of pre-season whilst your team-mates jump through hoops to get fit and win their starting place doesn't fit well with me and I really hope that isn't the case.

Anyway - I don't know so right now I remain in man-love with him but there are few excuses now for either signing or not signing other than 1-3 above

Look, none of us know what was in the first contract offer or how far the terms were from Cambiasso's liking. There are plenty of legitimate reasons why he hasn't signed yet. These things take time, especially considering he was not going to make a decision until after last season ended. Give the guy a break.

who can blame him? Cambiasso is holding the cards following last season. Just holding out for more money on a weekly basis and who can blame him as he is highly in demand.

Family - totally agree - imagine he would have started considering that well before the last kick of a ball last season - either he stays in UK and commutes or he goes abroad to his final destination and takes the family or for 1 year and returns for breaks - My son is his daughter's age - trust me he will have decided home or away by now. if he can't decide on hi long term future yet - he will stay for his daughter's sake and take an extra year to decide.

contracts - he had an extension option. If not good enough, i.e he wants more money or better terms for himself, there have been 8 weeks to negotiate new terms

i'm not sulking and I don't think others are either - i'm saying sign or don't sign and i'm telling the club if you feel you have gone to all possible length to get him tell him the offer is full and final and give him a deadline to accept or decline. He has had plenty of time now, there comes a point when you have to draw a line and ask for his final answer

Agree with this completely and it isnt at all unreasonable.

I agree which is why I said 'IF' so I'm neither gonna give him a break or otherwise - but there comes a point where you feel enough time has been given

the club will know the position, i just hope they are being as firm / patient as they need to be

Exactly, they are just playing the smart game and trying to milk it like before. Maybe not him but his rep's will be.

At some point the club need to draw a line though and say beyond x date we move on to plan B.

Definitely.

His brothers tweets dont help and are a good example of why you shouldn't respond to speculation.

There is no plan B to Cambiasso.  Everything would be plan Y at best.

Why would he rush back into pre season training when he isn't under a contract so has no obligation to. He could have agreed or decided to sign the contract when it suits him. We're trying to get him to sign remember, as long as he's ready for Sunderland, who cares. If he turned up after the week in Austria, none of the players would care either. He hasn't just decided he didn't want to turn up, he's a free agent.
