TMELcfc Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Or... he would rather sign for someone with a manager. True
Guest MattP Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Or... he would rather sign for someone with a manager. Quite amazing how it seems so many people can't understand that this is a huge issue, no player who really cares about his future would sign for us as the minute with so much uncertainly around the club, they can't even have a chat with who their manager wil be It's laughble we are making these bids to be honest, it's making us look totally ridiculous.

Have we made any bids though? Nothing other than Twitter posts have suggested that we have. Besides, we've still got our head of recruitment and director of football working here.

Besides, we've still got our head of recruitment and director of football working here. Sky claimed we had a bid rejected of 12.5million for Austin, I know we still have those people in place but it seems daft to try and attract players when they don't even know who they will be playing for. "Hi Charlie nice to see you, here is the contract we are offering, any questions?" "Yeah who I am going to be playing for?" "Don't know, we are being linked with some big names though and Neil Lennon" "The last guy did a great job didn't he? Vardy told me he was the best manager he had played under at England training last month, why you get rid of him?" "Kept defending his players whatever they did" "Errr alright, I'll get back to you yeah?"

Would imagine it's fairly common on the continent. We've a chief scout and dof doing the signing while we look for a head coach to continue our footballing philosophy. Not saying it's ideal but it's not as ridiculous as you make out.
Guest MattP Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Not saying it's not uncommon for DOF or otherwise to be signing players, here or on the continent. But is it really common to be doing this whilst not having a manager full stop anywhere?

Just think if Pearson was still around, there would be an outcry that we haven't signed anyone for 2 weeks.

A manager or coach would say where he thinks we are short and what he needs to play his preferred formation or tactic come opening day. As it stands that's not there. It's directionless.

But is it really common to be doing this whilst not having a manager full stop anywhere? There should really be a guy in place tbh, but its not unheard of - They know what to do. It's not directionless as previously stated, the targets are In place regardless of the manager. doesn't matter it's Pearson, Hiddink, or Col. Okazaki would have been pursued and Kante etc. I'd rather we have order at least though. Shakey needs to be publicly named as caretaker unless he has already.

Shakey and Walsh were named as caretakers the day NP got the sack

But what about if the new manager doesn't want Kante or Ozazaki? A new manager has new ideas. He may want an out and out attacking midfielder or a ball playing centre back. At the moment we are targeting players where Pearson and his staff thought we we were short.

RedSoxUK Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Shakey and Walsh were named as caretakers the day NP got the sack Good! Then we have no reason to change things.

We're not looking for a manager to dismantle and erase what we've got - part of their contract will be to listen and enforce the decisions of the DoF and Head of Recruitment, he can play them however he wants, but he'll be a fool to start Nugent over Okazaki and Hammond over potentially Kante. I'm trusting the current staff to improve Leicester City regardless of who's coming in. I see what you're saying though, we could waste a lot of money doing this.

"Hi Charlie nice to see you, here is the contract we are offering, any questions?" I think the Austin bid was just a statement of intent to any prospective managers. It was just far enough off their valuation to be rejected, yet it was still substantial enough to show we mean business. "Yeah who I am going to be playing for?" "Don't know, we are being linked with some big names though and Neil Lennon" "The last guy did a great job didn't he? Firstly by retaining such a structure, we are denying ourselves an opportunity to look at other managers who prefer to run a lot things through themselves. We are also placing an awful lot of trust into the likes of Rudkin who has very little record of running a football club. Walsh and Shakespeare will be off when Pearson gets a new job. In a way, Walsh is using our resources for his next job as well as currently.

Sol thewall Bamba Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 If he doesn't want to be here, he doesn't fit with our squad ethos. Next.

They haven't always worked with NFP. Club giving every appearance of wanting to keep them. Not one member of the back room staff or the players have said anything on social media, if they were that upset surely something would have been leaked by now.

Strokes Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Last time I remember us signing players without a manager, was the season before Nigel Pearson taking the reins. Bruno n'gotty was his name and it was a season to remember too.

Of course they won't, they will be on decent contracts and have bills to pay. Would be madness to hand in a resignation. If they are going to join Nige they might as well wait until he gets a job and then watch things develop from there. (and as someone said, Walsh can even still use our facilities to start scouting future signings anyway) Every chance they'll have to be paid off anyway if the new man wants his own men in.
