MPH Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Last time I remember us signing players without a manager, was the season before Nigel Pearson taking the reins. Bruno n'gotty was his name and it was a season to remember too. *shudders*
Stevosevic Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Of course they won't, they will be on decent contracts and have bills to pay. Would be madness to hand in a resignation. If they are going to join Nige they might as well wait until he gets a job and then watch things develop from there. (and as someone said, Walsh can even still use our facilities to start scouting future signings anyway) Every chance they'll have to be paid off anyway if the new man wants his own men in. Correct - you don't get a pay off by resigning. As soon as the new man comes in they'll decide he will want his own people and Walsh & Shakespeare will get a tidy pay off.
Babylon Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Firstly by retaining such a structure, we are denying ourselves an opportunity to look at other managers who prefer to run a lot things through themselves. That might be the long term plan, frankly I think it's a better one. You get a manager that fits to your system, not one that wants to do it all his own way. Because invariably, when that person leaves the structure goes with them. When saints lose a manager everything stays in place, they replace the manager without someone they have been scouting for years. Whose style of play, personality, and the way they work fits into their system.

Surprised Pearson isn't in a job already
dimmerchant Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Good article from Gary Neville on this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/11366206/Gary-Neville-The-era-of-the-gaffer-is-over.html
Guest MattP Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Surprised Pearson isn't in a job already Really? Not many clubs sack managers in July Hackney, which job currently avaliable are you surprised he isn't in? I'm sure there will be more than one Chairman currently paying close attention to his situation, there aren't many managers out there coming off a job where they took over a team mid table in the Championship and left it midtable in the Premiership, he'll be in high demand.
hackneyfox Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 If he's as good as you claim Id have thought there would be a queue of chairmen at his front door. Mid table in the Premier?????
Guest MattP Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 If he's as good as you claim Id have thought there would be a queue of chairmen at his front door. Mid table in the Premier????? Who is to say there isn't? You realise he was sacked a week ago? He might want some time off, he might not be interested in doing anything, he's probably out walking, he also strikes me as the sort of man that wouldn't want to see someone already working towards a job next season get the sack for no other reason that he was avaliable (MON was the same). Lower mid table then if it really makes you feel better.
Babylon Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 If he's as good as you claim Id have thought there would be a queue of chairmen at his front door. Mid table in the Premier????? WTF What just like everyone is sacking their managers because Klopp is available.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 If he's as good as you claim Id have thought there would be a queue of chairmen at his front door. Mid table in the Premier????? This guy is an absolute wind up merchant ^^
The Doctor Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 We don't know that they will join Pearson. They haven't resigned as 'a matter of principle'. They haven't always worked with NFP. Club giving every appearance of wanting to keep them. Not one member of the back room staff or the players have said anything on social media, if they were that upset surely something would have been leaked by now. Since Pearson stepped up to the management role they have. Before that they worked together on the coaching staff of various clubs including West Brom and Newcastle. It's fairly certain they'll join up with Pearson when he finds a new job.

Back room staff are paid considerably less than the manager and as a result have their own interests to protect.

Whose style of play, personality, and the way they work fits into their system. It does work to an extent as showcased by Southampton. However the feeling I was always got with Southampton is that they had a plan b. As soon as Pochettino was gone, Koeman was quickly on the scene and installed in time for pre season etc. Koeman still to an extent has an influence on Southampton's decision making as seen by their purchases from Dutch clubs or Dutch players.

SecretPro Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Deal agreed with us, £7.8m - are we going to get this one over the line?

filbertway Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 It seems to be a case of us being used, much like we did with MacArther (probably got that horribly wrong ha).
lgfualol Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 I just don't think anyone will join us without a manager.
psychonaut Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 OM have apparently made a final offer which Caen still deem insulting. Kante it seems is set on staying in France and would've liked to move to OM. Caen have accepted an offer from us but have also stated they are not desperate for the money and have a good relationship with Kante so do not have to sell if the player is not happy. So he will more than likely stay with Caen. Unless he is tempted by the dollar.
