Bagworthblue Posted 28 June 2015 Posted 28 June 2015 With talk of ' we already have too many strikers' and we don't need another winger etc, thought i'd start the ball rolling on how the 25 man squad may start to look, how many spaces we have etc for discussion With the business done so far, there are still 4 3 definite spaces (assumption Wood goes and Shinji takes his place), 5 4 if Cambiasso leaves. You could even leave Konch out of the squad and create a further space etc etc, maybe even drinkwater as i'm not sure where he may stand after last season. Hamer will probably leave maybe on loan. Then hopefully Simpson leaves too. But I think he'll stay too and hardly play.

With that in mind I'm fairly sure Matty James won't be named in the squad that starts the season. Even if you include moore, (replace Dawson), Fuchs, (Knockaert), and keep Konch as one of the '25', there's still room for a couple of quality newcomers, (GTF/James/spare), plus the option of binning Simpson...... There was talk of him potentially making a return in September. I'm sure the club will have a loan in mind, and asses matty mid August and make a decision whether to pursue the loan

EDIT: just checked, seems like i was confusing rules, so ignore this paragraph...

I would lose Simpson, Konchesky and Hammond from that squad we may lose Cambiasso too, so that will leave 20/21 players so 4 or 5 more signings. EDIT ps I doubt James will be named in squad until january so 5 or 6 more signings.

Probably very optimistic but I'd have thought he'd be named in the initial squad, otherwise risk being without until Jan. But yes I agree maybe Konch, Moore, Simpson, Cambiasso may not be in that squad come august 8th

That gives us plenty of options. tbh I cant see, given the attacking formations open to us with the players already signed, nuge wanting to be sat around in the chris wood role of last season. So for me he goes out on loan with us subsidising his wages. Couldnt see other prem teams taking him. So does that free up a place for an attacking midfielder we are obv looking to bring in.
