Feeling has to be overwhelming disappointment and anger. This has to be some kind of sick joke.

Who in their right mind would sack one of the most successful ever managers when the club had reached the summit of it's ability and performance since MON's time at the club? That was a bad move in itself but to then replace Pearson with a twice failed MLS manager who now manages in the third ****ing tier in the States is lunacy! I mean Jesus Christ, there wasn't a single City fan alive not looking forward to the new season two weeks ago - can we say the same now, I don't think so!

Which of Top and Vichais ball suckers (8) have said they would be 'pleased' seriously!

I'm not sure I can believe my eyes that about 16% of people on this forum would be either pleased or intrigued to see what happens when a manager of Northern Premier or, perhaps, Thai League second tier calibre is drafted in to replace one of our most successful ever managers. Were it to happen, and I can't believe it would, then it would by far eclipse any other appointment in our or any PL club's history as an obviously deranged appointment. It would also indicate something very exceptional and very dangerous at work within the club, unless it's an attempt to prove that the whole notion of coaching or managing pedigree is b******s. It's more absurd than when we see the likes of Heskey, Lineker and Elliott included in the new manager odds. Clearly a lot of people are either more curious or have a much better sense of humour than me.

I think we're headed towards a head coach role with the board/owners being in charge of transfers. That is worrying enough but to have a total unknown in charge is even more so. I'd be hugely disappointed but I'd give him a chance, after all, Pearson was pretty much a managerial unknown when he came here and there's always a chance it might work out.

I think I'd be more confident that it wouldn't though.

Pearson had spent 2-3 years of his career in the senior coaching role of Premier League clubs, had two brief but ultimately successful management roles in England - one in the same league as us, and which had cost Holloway's Leicester its 2nd tier status. He was 44, rather than 52. If you were plotting a scale of known to unknown appointments on a sheet of paper, or 'credible to nonsensical candidates' if you prefer, you'd have Mourinho at the top, Pearson c.2008 near the bottom, then you'd have to get ten more sheets of paper and stick them all together before you could get anywhere near Preki.

It would be one of the most crazy decisions ever taken by any board at any level. They could have renamed us Leicester Power and had us playing in an electric brown home kit and it would still be more sensible, and bearable. It would be very hard, as a fan, to offer anything like my usual degree of enthusiasm to the appointment because it would be clearly a joke.

I'd be very disappointed but wouldn't dream of stopping supporting the team/club. Wouldn't be fair to penalise the players or even him! You couldn't blame him in the slightest, if you're offered a significantly better job for (I imagine) significantly more money in your field you'd most likely take it. However, I don't believe this will happen and I think it's very much 2+2=5. People need to stop questioning the owners 'appointment' until one has actually been made.

Sensible Soccer / what a game that was. Caused a few joysticks to get snapped. A bit like the idea of Klopp becoming our manager.

Preki appointed and sensible however are mutually exclusive.

There should be an option for something in between all the things there. I'd be more than disappointed, but I wouldn't go as far as to protest to get the owners out of the club. I think the word I'd use is FURIOUS. I'd be furious, but it's still my club, my love and as much as I'd want to hate it, I don't think I could walk away :(

Oh, I agree but I'd still give it all a chance before inevitably, our fears are confirmed as there is always that slim chance that it would work out.

To think though that in the space of less than 2 weeks, we've gone from confidently looking forward to the season with a reason to think we could eventually better what we achieved under O'Neill to dreading what's going to happen next, fearing a disaster and relegation. It's ridiculous.

No matter who they appoint, I don't like the idea of the board or owners signing players and expecting a manager/head coach to mould a team from a bunch of individuals. We saw a similar approach under Sven and it doesn't work. We're not Real Madrid, we can't sign the best players in the world and have class make up for any lack of planning, teamwork and spirit. It's all a bit bizarre to say I'd be happier if we weren't trying to sign players at this moment in time, we know we need to strengthen the squad but to do it with no-one in place really does suggest it's the direction we're headed, a direction I don't want us going.

It's also got me wondering if this was always the plan and the real reason we appointed a DoF in the first place.

Way, way, back when Mandaric was here and I think we were about to appoint Megson, I suggested his name as a left-field "why not this guy?" as an "Anyone but Megson!!" type of suggestion. Given that the other thing I thought should happen back then was Roy Hodgson should get the England job, if it happens I'm fully expecting a "This is why not" type of outcome :(

Or did he get an offer from the owners who saw the backlash and back-tracked? Poor Preki

Yes, that is likely what happened.  He got offered a very well-paying job in the most high-profile league in world football and without a doubt the biggest opportunity of his working life ..... and then he read foxestalk and was moved to turn down the offer.

It does make you wonder if it actually was us and the owners pulled the plug. The fact he hasn't gone anywhere makes it more plausible. The gap between Ranieri saying he wanted the job and us hiring was too long for him to be first choice as Whelan said!

Upon the appointment of Bob Bradley as the United States national team manager, Preki was promoted as head coach of Chivas USA for the 2007 Major League Soccer season.[13]

Preki left Chivas "by mutual consent" on November 12, 2009, following Chivas' failure to progress to the latter stages of the MLS playoffs.[14] He became head coach of Toronto FC on November 19, 2009.[15] However, Preki didn't last the 2010 MLS season with Toronto, being fired along with General Manager Mo Johnston on September 14, 2010.[16] Under Preki, Toronto qualified for the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League after winning the 2010 Canadian Championship.

On July 15, 2013, after nearly three years out of coaching, Preki was named head coach of the USL Professional Division (now United Soccer League) expansion Sacramento Republic FC in advance of their inaugural 2014 season.[17] He won the USL Pro Championship game in September 2014 with the club.[18] On 8 July 2015, Preki announced his resignation from his post to take up a coaching role in the United Kingdom.

It was rumoured that Preki had been been offered the Leicester City head coach position. It is thought that this was actually a misunderstanding, and that he was actually offered the chance to manage the 1884 Sports Bar at the King Power Stadium.

When Preki turned up for his first day at the King Power Stadium he was directed to 1884 Sports Bar and turned away as he did not have a season ticket and was not allowed in.

Preki tried to purchase a season ticket to make the best of a bad situation, but they were sold out.

Preki's current whereabouts is unknown.
