Marcelo Bielsa?

Pochettino didn't speak a word of English when he first went to Southampton and was widely mocked. I know it's a cliché but football is a universal language. Especially when the system he favours is an evolution of what we're already familiar with.

I know i said it was a negative of Bielsa that he doesn't speak English, but in no way would i say no to him because of this.

The bloke is a genius, you would be totally deluded to not employ him on those grounds.

By learning the language. Or through his staff. Not difficult.

We are a few weeks away from the start of a new season, we need to hit the ground running. Not wait for someone to learn the language or put his points across via a translator. Somehow I don't really feel that the hyped up half time team talk will be quite so motivating when the manager has to give the message to a translator who then says it in English, before the translators then translate it for Okazaki and another for Ulloa. It just doesn't work how it should.

We really need an English speaking manager who understands the premier league and understands or has a basic knowledge of the current squad. Someone who will build on what we have, rather than tear it up to start again.

see the post above. all you need to know. cuts to the chase.

I'm sure you could learn the language required to convey the necessities in football in a day or two.

Potentially a very exciting appointment but I suspect the mirror know that linking any new name to the club will earn them clicks from a lot of city fans.

If there's one important point here though it shows how valuable it is to bide your time when making am appointment instead of rushing in and getting whoever seems immediately available.

Still don't think that management style will suite this squad. Players will have issues and or things that they would like to discuss with the manager, younger players went to Pearson often for advice on how to deal with everyday life of being a footballer. This guy won't be able to offer any of that man management type stuff. If we then lose shakey and Walsh, for this guys back room staff then I can see a lot of the players feeling alienated.

And they might not. Personal conjecture. Bielsa is world class, with a world class record and reputation amongst the best in the game. Not conjecture.

Tbf Bielsa has inspired about every Spanish speaking manager born after him, Guardiola, Simeone, Sampaoli, etc...

Welcome to Modern Football. More specifically, the Premier League if He doesn't speak a word of English (and we don't know for certain that he doesn't) it isn't ideal but it isn't a deal breaker. It's a long season and there's always a bedding in period even with English speakers. He's an intelligent man, this wouldn't be a new situation for him (learning the language and adopting a new squad) so I'm sure he'd make it work.

Not sure why my point is based on conjecture while your point based on a managers past, managing in foreign leagues with foreign players isn't.

There is no evidence to suggest that he knows the premier league, or even knows anything about English football at all. I am also unsure how someone with stats as shown in this post is classed as world class. In his time at Argentina they didn't perform well in the knockouts in the World Cup, edged a victory in the Olympic Games (limited teams entered) and then he moved on. Not really any thing to note during his time at Chile other than a pretty standard World Cup qualification for them.

As for his athletico stats they are poor and with Marsielle he is doing alright to be fair. Still not seen enough evidence to suggest he his world class though. Yes he is a big name hyped By the media, is it justified hype? Well that's debatable.

This guy tops Klopp. We get this man and we'd be in Europa minimum within 2 seasons. The guys record is impeccable and he plays football the right way. His Athletic Bilbao side a few seasons back were incredible to watch, I don't think they won anything under him but I still talk about some of their performances in the Europa League now, they were unreal at times. Granted they had the likes of Llorente but the man took a side with rules and regulations no other sides are restricted with and had them playing aw top top football. With money and a side already suited to his tactics in players like Vardy and Okazaki for starters we'd be a great start and a great project if he fancies it in the Premier League.

Exciting times. I just feel it's too good to be true sadly.

If Rachel Riley wanted to fvck you, maybe for a few years, but she didn't speak English, what would you do?

Just like this guy isn't right for our squad. Rachel isn't, despite being lovely, right for me. I am more a Mila Kunis/ Kirsten dunst/ Maria sharapova kinda guy. :):P

Would love this to happen tbh, can really see Paul Konchesky pressing... oh.

In all seriousness, I'd like to think out science and fitness department are well equipped enough to get our players to stay in shape and work harder throughout - I think we were already one of the most energised and energy burnt out teams last season.

Was that the season Bilbao ripped Man Utd a new one? I remember how they utterly outplayed them. Different class.

They might have done, but his win percentage for them over a long period of time was 38 percent or something along those lines. We also ripped Man united a new one and beat them 5-3 after coming from 2 down. According to your logic Pearson must also be world class then!?

But Rachel might be right for you if you give her the chance. And Mila Kunis is just a fantasy, Kristen Dunst only wants a non sexual relationship, and Maria Sharapova wants a three-some with some crazy guy.

As I matter of fact I think he is... But I was commenting on the Bilbao performance that night, not Bielsa??

If Maria Sharapova is Martin O'Neill in this analogy, then take a bow.

Ah, the lesser known merger of the Bilbao and Madrid clubs

Apologies for a combination of tired typo/ tired reading skills. The fact still stands that for the club in question athletic Bilbao? Is it? His win percentage is worse than Holloways was for us in our relegation season.

I assumed that you were referring to my comment about Bielsa's statistics at said club. Apologies.

Very nice. A+
