Marcelo Bielsa?

Don't be so defeatist.

That's like picking Messi up on a one year deal and moaning that he'll be somewhere else next season or not dating Rachel Riley because she'll probably leave you at some point.

We've had two weeks of this and I'd rather sign someone of Bielsa's stature than get in Sam Allardyce who will give us no surprises but no frills stability.

Bielsa will be 60 next month and I'm sure he'd love to find a club that endorses everything he does and wants.

It could be a match made in heaven for him and the club.

lol me defeatist - that's a first  :D

i'm not saying don't go for it but to me stability has got us here and going forward we need to stabilise again. I don't think we will under this chap but don't get me wrong, right now we need A manager to give us ANY form of stability and if he is deemed the best available and they go for it, I'm right behind that. I would hope however we can negotiate out any required 'termination for convenience' clauses from the agreement

put it like this - if O'Neill, Bielsa and Ranieri were being interviewed by me and the former and latter talked about building the club over the next few years and Bielsa said, I'll give it a season and then take it from there, he would have to be a much much stronger candidate than the other 2 for me to keep him in the running

That's all i'm saying - I'm sure the club will make the right decision if indeed we even have enough candidates willing to give US any choice :)

I wonder if Albert, Qwerty, Bert or Ramadaone have heard anything about Bielsa? Or anything else they can share?

No, otherwise they would have shared it.

no they wouldn't! albert waited 73 pages before confirming there was no preki!

Exactly, sometimes if you don't ask you don't get.

As discussed before apologies but unfortunately there are some things I'm just unable to share until it is safe to do so and by then the cat is normally out of the bag anyway

So what you're saying is that you do know something but you can't actually say that you do.  I get ya  *nudge nudge, wink, wink*

Is there currently something you can't share?

Is it as much of a shitstorm as it looks from the outside?

I'm still a little unsure as to what makes him any better, or as good an option as O'Neill or Ranieri. It seems he's a career international manager, an innovative tactician and - judging by his reference from Guardiola - something of a 'manager's manager', and fans tend to like his investment in youth and his attacking football.

I have to say I didn't know his name, despite having followed Spanish football quite closely, though it's possible he's well known in Asia! His finishes with Athletic aren't exceptional, I'd say but he's clearly done very well with Marseille.

But he has none of the PL experience that the board are supposedly seeking, he doesn't speak English (even Pochettino spoke English, even if he didn't feel confident enough to share it with the press) and there would be further danger of the 'veteran manager' syndrome we faced with Sven and, in fairness, our two other current 'main candidates'. And from little I've seen, there's no reason he'd get Cambiasso on board, though it's equally unlikely that Ranieri would.

On paper he'd have to represent a bigger risk than O'Neill or Ranieri, and he's not actually won anything since club management in South America in the 90s, though O'Neill and Ranieri would also be unlikely to get the job on the strength of their trophy cabinets. I think there's a danger sometimes that you go for much-vaunted managers who are prestigious, respected and excite the fans, but who don't necessarily represent the best fit for the club.

That said, it's interesting to see the sorts of names you talk about when there's a vacancy in the PL, as opposed to in the second tier. It's quite likely we'll get a manager who we'll have every reason to be positive about. It makes me wonder how we managed to appoint Taylor and Bassett in years gone by!

Looking at Betfair it looks like it's not going to happen.  :(

You can still get 17/1 which means that the club almost certainly aren't having any dialogue with him.

It's a real shame because the Marseille team is being dismembered and if Biesla was prepared to go to West Ham it doesn't take too much of a leap of faith for him to come to Leicester.

i was going to lay him at 20's but turns out 5 years ago me put a sodding loss limit on the account and it takes 7 days to take off!

Yep, the info will flow now you have asked. Probably never crossed their mind to post their info before that.
