Marcelo Bielsa?

So either you don't need many wins in that league to finish in the top half. Or it was the poor second season that dragged his win percentage down. Either way it isn't exactly a glowing reference in his second season is it?

As for language, I still don't believe in translators to translators. Hate the idea of this. It's so far fetched.

Eh, 38% win percentage is 14 wins, that's 42 points and even if we lost the other 24 games that would still be an improvement on last seasons return. Chuck in 6/7 draws and you're in the top half from last season - it's not that you don't need many wins, it's that 38% is pretty good! particularly for a lesser club.

So would you then say that Okazaki and Fuchs should never have been signed since they'd need a translator? You're making the language barrier out to be a much bigger problem than it is.

I have no concerns, football is a universal language and Marcelo will get on just fine.

It’s important for a new manager to have somebody at the club they can talk to easily and I’m sure Esteban will be happy to help.

I need to know the current odds on this fella. What did they close at last night and how rapidly they're dropping?

If there's no big movement then we can't get excited just yet

Bookies mean nothing in this market. A medium sized bet can skew the market. One of the few areas they have as much knowledge as the punter. So a bet of minimal amount can see offs fall.

I may be wrong but I think he was being sarcastic lol

Wikipedia says he signed a 2 year deal last summer, so surely he has a year left? Plus, hasn't he just signed a new deal or has he stalled on that? Get him in, he's unreal.

Well this would be amazing! Loved him at Bilbao!

Can't help but think we would punching a bit here though, he's been sounded out for Barcelona many times.

if he did sign for us it would be incredible, however people getting their hopes up about Cambiasso may be wrong i fear. cambi didnt seem to make any of him major tournament squads when he was argentina coach

Cambiasso can't play the wide roles or the behind the striker.

In his 3-3-3-1 formation there is no place for Cambiasso.

Kante would be perfect for the MF role.

I can see why Bielsa never fancied Cambiasso. However, choice between the two? It would be Bielsa all day long for me.

Yes please. He's the first manager we've been linked with that I would be fully behind.

Gayyyy

bloody hell Amin, disgusting. This is a football forum.

the 2 year deal had a review point this summer where both parties individually could opt not to continue with the 2nd year.

my concern here is that, similar to Cambiasso, we may be left wondering at the end of season 1 just whether he will  stay for season 2 etc. i'm not sure he will give us the stability we'd all like.

This is my concern too. If he does well for us, even after just a few months, and a bigger Premier League club becomes available I think he'll be off. If he's successful here I don't think he'll be here long.

Don't be so defeatist.

That's like picking Messi up on a one year deal and moaning that he'll be somewhere else next season or not dating Rachel Riley because she'll probably leave you at some point.

We've had two weeks of this and I'd rather sign someone of Bielsa's stature than get in Sam Allardyce who will give us no surprises but no frills stability.

Bielsa will be 60 next month and I'm sure he'd love to find a club that endorses everything he does and wants.

It could be a match made in heaven for him and the club.

I don't know as much about him as most, but well aware of the name. His Bilbao team was excellent though and I think we have a squad he could potentially work quite well with. I also worry about the communication side of things but that doesn't mean he can't do well.

This new link does suggest to me that the powers that be have sounded out a few names and been knocked back (such as Guus, possibly Klopp) and are now caught pissing in the wind.

Also seems like they may have had a word with Martin but weren't that impressed.

I think this is older news but just new to us - the owners find out about him last week and  want to interview him but he doesn't show because he's at work training his players.......

They'd still be the usual tactically inept posts if we were winless in 5 or something

Just like this guy isn't right for our squad. Rachel isn't, despite being lovely, right for me. I am more a Mila Kunis/ Kirsten dunst/ Maria sharapova kinda guy. :):P

Please don't take offence but if you think you can get kunis or dunst your living in dreamland, they're well out your league. However, a few years of Rachel will raise your profile and then you'll be a much better prospect to make your move for the lovely lady charms of kunis and dunst. ;)
