Amin Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Yes please. He's the first manager we've been linked with that I would be fully behind.
fridoux Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Actually I watch football, coach football and partake In a bit of playing football. Not sure what relevance this has to the debate though. I don't see how someone who doesn't speak a word of English can coach a squad of players who's main form of communication (even if it's a second language) is English. I have seen the way his teams play, a high pressing game would suite our style but how will he portray tactics and formations, instructions, motivation etc without speaking the language of our players? Just to clarify I was joking in my first post, but having thought about it, language is quite a serious issue in this debate. As for you calling me a name unnecessarily, swear words and name calling are a sign of weakness and a cover up for lack of intelligence. that by the way is a scientifically proven fact. dont worry for 'speeking the language', cambiasso will do it for the rest, and whos better then a key player like him to do that. he turned a crap marseille side last year into some club records and a 4th place with direct access to europa, not bad for someone who dont speak french. this guy is special beleave me , i followed all his coaching carrer, and its realy different from what you can see elswhere, every f*** player that he coached had learn something.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 If this happens, Cambiasso I'm sure will sign up
ChrisWoodIsClass Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 if he did sign for us it would be incredible, however people getting their hopes up about Cambiasso may be wrong i fear. cambi didnt seem to make any of him major tournament squads when he was argentina coach
dayday Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I want to get excited but I carn't,all this new manager lark has left me exhausted.
CosbehFox Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 We are a few weeks away from the start of a new season, we need to hit the ground running. Not wait for someone to learn the language or put his points across via a translator. Somehow I don't really feel that the hyped up half time team talk will be quite so motivating when the manager has to give the message to a translator who then says it in English, before the translators then translate it for Okazaki and another for Ulloa. It just doesn't work how it should. We really need an English speaking manager who understands the premier league and understands or has a basic knowledge of the current squad. Someone who will build on what we have, rather than tear it up to start again. He can't speak French or couldn't when he joined Marseille last Summer. They started off very well before doing the normal Bielsa thing of falling apart in the latter stage of the season.
CosbehFox Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 They might have done, but his win percentage for them over a long period of time was 38 percent or something along those lines. We also ripped Man united a new one and beat them 5-3 after coming from 2 down. According to your logic Pearson must also be world class then!? His first season they finished 10th, runners up in Europa League and runners up in the Spanish Cup. Second season finished 12th, knocked out of Europa League and Spanish Cup early doors.
Foxhateram Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 His first season they finished 10th, runners up in Europa League and runners up in the Spanish Cup. Second season finished 12th, knocked out of Europa League and Spanish Cup early doors. So either you don't need many wins in that league to finish in the top half. Or it was the poor second season that dragged his win percentage down. Either way it isn't exactly a glowing reference in his second season is it? As for language, I still don't believe in translators to translators. Hate the idea of this. It's so far fetched.
teblin Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Pochettino didn't speak a word of English when he first went to Southampton and was widely mocked. I know it's a cliché but football is a universal language. Especially when the system he favours is an evolution of what we're already familiar with. I may be wrong but I thought he had some knowledge of English but didn't feel confident enough too conduct press work in English. Spurs told him he had too.
Hack Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I may be wrong but I thought he had some knowledge of English but didn't feel confident enough too conduct press work in English. Spurs told him he had too. He does have basic English
Blanesta Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I'd like this to happen, I'd be surprised if it did though.
fox_favourite Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 We'll go through the Leicester Manager Syndrome: Phase 1: Finding the info (past this stage) Phase 2: Get excited as a possibility. Phase Three: Add "preki" to the conversation. Phase Four: Post the odds of this happening. Phase five: Get all orgasmic about him being odds on favourite. Phase Six: "will he keep Shakey and Walsh". Phase seven: ITK starts to take hold. Phase Eight: Tracking Helicopter fever sets in. Phase Nine: Betting changes and the come down starts. Phase Ten: A new favourite comes on the scene and this topic falls down the list. This may also involve: Avoiding work, constant trips to the toilet to check on progress, constant refresh refresh of Foxestalk and annoying partner fever.
FireFox Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 May also involve: Finding out if he gets on well with Cambiasso.
fox_favourite Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 May also involve: Finding out if he gets on well with Cambiasso. Ah yes, this sid of the fever can be quite nasty, as it could turn to keyboard warriorism
Callabinho Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Surely I'm not the only one who's never heard of him Argentinas head coach in 2002. And more recently Chile, was a very revolutionary actually was one of the first managers to start changing formations mid game dependant on the situation, and constantly played players in positions where he thought their abilities would shine. Bit of a nutter though, apparently during the 2002 World Cup he did nothing but constantly watch the other teams games on a big loop.
fleckneymike Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I think this story is based on nothing more than I suggested him way back in the 'who would you want' thread.
Guest ttfn Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Obviously this would be very exciting and it would be pretty thrilling to see one of his sides down at the KP. My only concern is that he likes to play at a high tempo which will fit in well with our style from last year but also likes a (very) high defensive line (think AVB at Chelsea). We would need a new centre back if that was the case because Huth and Morgan wouldn't work as a partnership under Bielsa. He also has an extremely demanding style of play for his players and for him more than perhaps any other manager only having half a pre-season would be a problem.
FireFox Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I think this story is based on nothing more than I suggested him way back in the 'who would you want' thread. There was actually article I posted earlier in this thread that suggests/considers him for the job.http://news.coral.co.uk/football/premier-league/pro-and-cons-of-five-coaches-to-take-over-from-pearson-at-leicester_84344.html

indierich06 Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 He's the only remotely realistic option that's been mentioned so far who I would be happy with. I think things are set up well for him to continue in a similar vein to Pearson, and push the side forward. Hope the Thais sort this out quickly and get him in. Would likely help with the recruitment of Kante and Cambiasso too - key positions that need filling quickly.
foxholecharlie Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 A voyage into the unknown, but a fantastic appointment. I'm all for this.
