Frank to be Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Hopefully Ranieri won't take until April to get to grips with premier league tactics, so this squad ought to be able to finish above where it did last season. That relies on Cambiasso coming back and Wes/was not declining too badly in old age. With two or three quality signings I think we'll be comfortably mid table.

HoustonFox Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 I don't think we should underestimate Bournemouth as a team. They scored a hatful of goals and have a very pacey squad - I see a lot of similarities with us actually. Moving on to us.... I think we are another centre midfielder and defender away from mid table solidity, predominantly the midfielder to play with Cambiasso. Hopefully that is Andy King and Riyadh Mahrez - especially if they start the season like they finished the last one. Hopefully we are in the realms of Palace and Stoke, I'd take that in a heart beat.
Guest bss9401 Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Ranieri is not a big name manager. He has publicly thanked the owners for giving him this chance. He wants to rebuild his reputation after Greece so 17th is the target unless we spend big. 40 points by May please.
Wymsey Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 He's won the Super Cup and Coppa Italia. Not a 'big' name boss, no...
reynard Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 I think a lot will depend on the first five matches. Three 6 pointers in the first 5 games which we need to win really. If we start well then equalling last season is a possibility but if we only have say 2 points after the first 5 games I think confidence will start to ebb away quite quickly from the players and their belief in the new manager will be tested. I expect us to finish somewhere between 15th and 20th.

Come on, there are no six pointers before the last few weeks of the season, let alone in the first month Have people not learned from last season yet? We must have failed to win ten or fifteen "must win" games and still had secured survival by the last day.
Frank to be Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 you're such a WUM Not sure how you've reached that conclusion. Had Pearson not struggled so much tactically for the first 8 months of last season we would have finished with more points, agree? Obvious surely. I think Ranieri is a better tactician and will get it right much sooner, so all other things being equal we'll do better next season.

I think Ranieri is a better tactician and will get it right much sooner, so all other things being equal we'll do better next season. I keep reading this bollocks about tactics and selection being wrong for the majority of the season yet you never provide specifics as you sit there in your armchair. Before you reply... 4-4-1-1 worked excellently up to the Man Utd game Albrighton had personal problems and was not up to speed physically when he joined 5-4-1 paved the way for the successful 3-4-1-2 and whilst I like many others didn't like Konchesky and Upson in that 5-4-1 it may have been a necessity to use experience and defensive minded players (over Schluup) to settle into that formation. As for Kramaric being up top on his own, it was a sacrifice that very nearly paid off at Arsenal away. Now tell me your issues. And before that, remember that Sean Dyche stuck with a rigid 4-4-2 all season that resulted in Burnley becoming predictable and relegated whilst we searched for a way to play more progressive, dynamic and expansive football, even if some mistakes were made along the way. It resulted in us blowing the competition away at the end of the season.
ozleicester Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Is it expectations or hopes? Expect... Another season of roller coaster rides, hanging just above the relegation zone but always in fear of it. A run to the 1/4s of the cup competitions. Talk of manager sackings Finishing in 15th with half of FT complaining about the manager and the other half bumming him. Hope... A solid season that sees us regularly pushing for a top 10 place. One trip to Wembley A well organised side playing attractive football, well managed and a general acceptance that CR is doing a good job Finishing 11th and missing out on the top 10 by 1 goal. Oh.. and ...two other things... Please can i watch Cambiasso play for us Please can we get at least a few points in December
cc_star Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 People's low expectations are baffling With the luxury of Huth all season along with other quality additions & a squad of players now more experienced at managing a PL game, anything less than 14th and 41 points would be a total flop and the measure of success & expectation should be considerably more than that considering the strength of the appointment in the Thai's eyes.
Ollie93 Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Bet a mate £100 we would finish above Newcastle... I'm not sure how I really feel about that.
Nick Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 I'd like 50 points and to stay up to get the new whack of TV money to invest for the following year. That'd be the bonus structure to give CR. Stay up £500,000 50 points / 10th upward £1,000000
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Second season is more trickier than the first usually as sometimes people get complacent. Survival is the key for us I think with a 12th - 14th place finish & I would be really happy.
Wymsey Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Don't know why some insist to be on top of the 'Fair Play' league. Chelsea and Manchester City haven't suffered from the amount of yellow cards they amassed in the past few seasons, have they?
Benguin Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 30 points by Christmas, 50-60 by end of season, 8-10th final position.
