Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 i can't imagine CR getting rid of all the "English players" just because they're English
The Railway Man Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Yes, I liked the English core with have, like virtually every other sport in Britain I do believe the professional clubs should have a duty to try and nuture player to play for the national side. You won't get past the frst page here though without Franlk To Be calling you a racist.
Kitchandro Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Yeh it would bother me if we had no English players at all in the team. But we've got Vardy, Albrighton and Morgan who are all likely to start.
les-tah Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Yeh it would bother me if we had no English players at all in the team. But we've got Vardy, Albrighton and Morgan who are all likely to start. Morgan is jamaican Maaaaaaaan Although the premiership and championship price themselves out of good english talent by the prices they put on their heads.
Frank to be Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Will we have any English players? Yes. Does it bother me either way? No. I want players who play like they care for the club but that isn't a quality that only English players can possess. Look at Cambiasso last season. If we had a team full of Cambiasso's and not an English player in sight I couldn't care less. You won't get past the frst page here though without Franlk To Be calling you a racist.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 As long as the club fairs well, I don't really mind, but I would prefer to have some Englishmen in the team.
Finnaldo Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 As long as we have everyone's favourite plastic Welshmen Andy Andy King I'm not bothered
eunmac Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Are we talking birthplace or national team? Put another way... Does Wes count as English since he elected to play for Jamaica? (He was born in Nottingham...)
indierich06 Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 I'd certainly like to see Premier League sides in general doing more to nurture young English talent, purely because I'm sick of the under-performance of the national team. If you look at the standard of our top division, the amount of money that's ploughed into the game, we should be among the elite of European footballing nations, if not the world. But the problem is, we're too eager to bring in foreign players and coaches for quick success, rather than focusing on developing our own talent - we're literally one of the only leagues in the world where native coaches and players are in the minority, it's crazy.
RedSoxUK Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 I'd rather have academy products whoever they may be than specific english players.
Jimothy Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Didn't Ranieri sign Lampard for Chelsea? Obviously he not totally against signing young English talent if that's the case.
Finnaldo Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Didn't Ranieri sign Lampard for Chelsea? Obviously he not totally against signing young English talent if that's the case. Brought through Terry as well didn't he?
Staffs Fox Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Ranieri brought Lampard, Johnson and Joe Cole to Chelsea, where has this idea come from??
Wilson_6 Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Brought through Terry as well didn't he? Yep and signed Wayne bridge
BoyJones Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Wes was born up the road from here. If he had been good enough he would have played for England.
Frank to be Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Ranieri brought Lampard, Johnson and Joe Cole to Chelsea, where has this idea come from?? Ranieri is foreign, therefore he'll actively seek to replace the English players with foreign players. So goes the logic.
AKCJ Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Wes was born up the road from here. If he had been good enough he would have played for England. Same here.
shailen Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 He hasn't even got rid of anyone yet so where is this idea coming from? Anyway it's a well known fact that English players are overpriced. This is why a lot of clubs look on the continent for cheaper players of the same quality. I don't think any manager has a vendetta on English players; it's just the current market adds around £10m on the top English players.
Larry_LCFC Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 I will be mightily ****ed off if we turn into a side with no English players or talent. That's not being racist, that's just me expecting to see homegrown players in an English (and swansea) league.
Babylon Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Englishmen via the national team I'm no so bothered about, I think it's good to have a core of players with a British mentality. Players like Kasper, De Laet, Morgan, King aren't English in terms of football, but they have been in the game here a long time and have a more British attitude.
