copunk Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 Fabian delph To be honest I have no idea why I am surprised, however this move today really hit me as to how disloyal, greedy and ungrateful most footballers are today, granted villa aren't a top 4 club, but why would you leave a club that clearly love you, big you up to be the next best thing to go sit on the bench all season and no doubt be sold again next year when man city realise that you don't fit into their style of play, boggles the mind

Larry_LCFC Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 He is such a bloody hypocrite saying he loves the club too much to leave, and then leaving anyway when a club with some money comes sniffing. He clearly thinks he is better than he is reading his statement.
copunk Posted 17 July 2015 Author Posted 17 July 2015 It shouldn't really surprise me with modern football tbh but speaking to the older generation who speak of footballers year's ago playing for the love of the game, who played with passion no matter who they played for, I know football has to change to keep up with the times, but money really has ruined what once was "the beautiful game"
Larry_LCFC Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 This sort of situation is exactly why I prefer the Football League over the Premier League. There are actually some decent British footballing morals in the lower leagues, and they become more apparent the lower you go. Its a much more honest game.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 Oh please he was playing for fvcking Villa. He probably paid the £8m himself to get out of that hellhole.
Tuna Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 I understand he has agreed to the same contract he rejected last week. Very strange if true after coming out with that statement last week. If he's thinking Villa have no ambition by selling Benteke, he was always going to go plus his release clause has been activated so I'd be interested to see how he explains himself. He's a decent player but nowehere near Fernando and Fernandinho and will not feature regularly.
Matt Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 Something that has dawned on me thanks to this move more than anything is a cringe slogan of Villa's, worse than our #Fearless campaign or anything else I have ever seen. #SayItLikeSherwood :crylaugh: What the ****ing hell is that! #SayItLikeSherwood
Matt Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 Dunno how the **** you post a vine but; https://v.cdn.vine.co/r/videos/2FC7FB44BC1233826208425656320_3e5409eec2a.1.5.1199069137694924600.mp4?versionId=Ipg1AlweUdN3DM3wnu3U0ys1GdAy2edK Things don't seem quite as bad as they did here, all of a sudden. Even more so mega z @ Gimpish [Grealish] for ripping his gay hair out, it's like he knew...
purpleronnie Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 Funny how just a couple of days ago people were lauding him because they thought he turned down money bags city to stay at Villa. There is no loyalty in football anymore, he had a buy-out clause placed into his contract, no loyal player does that.

Sherwood is the most cringeworthy/over-hyped manager in existence.

purpleronnie Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 Fvck me that is embarrassing. Some of these media teams need shooting What a moron but people believed him, they're the morons.
RowlattsFox Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 Villa got £8m more than they would have done if he didn't sign the contract in January. He probably thought about being loyal but then he remembered he was at Aston ****ing villa and he may not get another opportunity to go to a man city type club.

They still lost money, based on what they bought him for, though.
Larry_LCFC Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 He is deluded if he thinks he wont be a bench warmer. Cant see him being good enough to get in the starting 11. Really depends what you want out of your career I guess. I would choose to play every week on a lower wage at a smaller club. Money really isn't everything when you do what you love, despite what some of these footballers believe.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 I don't understand why people get so worked up about a player choosing to move from a club towards the bottom of the league to a club towards the top of the league. Seems random as to whether it's seen as a good, ambitious move or a bad one motivated solely by money. And yes, there may have been a "U-turn" (or two) but these things happen. Presumably the Benteke situation has contributed to his rethink.

People think he's a joke after all the shit he spouted about being loyal etc etc. People wouldn't have battered an eyelid otherwise but if you're going to come out with all these grand statements to big yourself up, atleast stick to them for more than a week. Now he just looks an utter tit.

Samilktray Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 He probably saw Benteke was off and thought fvck it I'm off too.
richardsfoxes Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 Lets be honest if you're offered 60k-100k more a week in any job anyone is going to take that.
Charl91 Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 As has been said, no-one cares about the fact that he's moving. Benteke's also moving, and I've not seen much ill will there. However, you're always going to look a little silly if you articulate how loyal you are a week before moving to a different club. Should've just kept his mouth shut, and he would have been fine.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 I think it largely has to do with Benteke leaving, he's made himself look like a right pillock mind
