teblin Posted 27 July 2015 Posted 27 July 2015 His strongest asset is his heading quality and strength. However Ulloa has both of these and is better on the ball - so Ulloa > Lambert. Lambert is better from dead ball situations though.
MC Prussian Posted 27 July 2015 Posted 27 July 2015 Alongside the Borini rumour, this has all the markings of a club (Liverpool) desperate to offload their own surplus to requirements.
Wymsey Posted 27 July 2015 Posted 27 July 2015 Alongside the Borini rumour, this has all the markings of a club (Liverpool) desperate to offload their own surplus to requirements. Would rather have either of them two than Balotelli, though.
Clever Fox Posted 27 July 2015 Posted 27 July 2015 Where are you going to find a proven youngster for 5 or 6 million? I kinda find it hard to believe people are moaning about us being linked with players rhe quality of Lambert. We are leicester city one season of survival in the premiership we have not made it to the elite top few yet! Think where we have come from with the players we had a few years ago and now people are moaning we are being linked with players that play for England. Get real people, yes we all would live to see us push onto the next level but then so do all the other clubs. Only a few will achieve what they want and players like Lambert would help us achieve our targets I'm sure of it. Enjoy the ride while it's here. I've supported us for 30 years and the good times like this are few and far between. We are probably in our best position we have every been with the structure and financial position we are in. So worrying about what players cost and there wage bill. That is it for us to worry about if we can afford it then why not? Our job is to support the manager and the team through the good and bad and trust me we are going through a good time. Enjoy it! You can find young players for 5 or 6 million, Newcastle have been doing it for years now. Look at our own Mahrez. but that wasn't what i meant. The point I was making was that as a new premiership club we're having trouble getting players to sign for us. Which means to get them here there has to be a sweetner in it for them. For instance a 1 mil bonus if you stay and play for 4 years. or agree a percentage of any sell on goes to the player. These type of tactics are what's needed to get players to come here. Lambert would be a foolish signing for a club reported-idly reaching for the top and Europe. I'm also well aware of where we've come from, I'm nearly 60 years following them, And yes we are in the best position we've ever been. But something is clearly wrong with our recruitment system and it needs to be sorted quickly. Robinson got the blame for last year but he's gone now and the problem is still there.
Kitchandro Posted 27 July 2015 Posted 27 July 2015 Whichever way you look at it this would be a crap signing. We don't need players just to sit on the bench in case they are needed. We're not in need of bodies up front, if we're going to sign a striker let's make sure it's because he's better goalscorer than the ones we've got. That's what we lacked last season, a player to bury chances on a consistent basis. We do NOT need another target man. Lumping it long should be a last resort not a preferred tactic. Our good play last season was based on pace.
TJB-fox Posted 28 July 2015 Posted 28 July 2015 Sorry but Lambert is definitely better than Ulloa on the ball, very underrated for his technical ability is Ricky. Having said that, despite his criticism last year Ulloa scored a lot of goals and is a constant menace so would prefer him

Robinson got the blame for last year but he's gone now and the problem is still there. your quote was you wanted us to find a proven youngster for 5-6 million. You do not get proven youngsters for that sort of money in today's market. And you say there is something clearly wrong with our recruitment system? Please explain as i disagree, our recruitment system over the last 3 years or so' in fact since the Sven days has been outstanding in my opinion. If you are referring to the lack of signings that everyone keeps pointing out you have to take into account that we have signed 3 players early in the window and lack of signings since has clearly been because we had a change of manager in the middle of the season break. Would you prefer Randy Hairy to go out the day after he was appointed and bring in 4-5 players without making assessments on the current squad and dumping players just for the sake of it? Or would you prefer for him to assess the squad and then decide after several training sessions and match days where we need strengthening? I for one think the later is the better option and fairer to the players who are here and better for team morale. we all know CM is the area most needing a recruit or 2 and i'm sure there's a lot going on behind the scenes that we are unaware of. These things take time, the window is open until September 3rd i believe and a lot of clubs now use up all of the time until the window closes making there signings. You say our recruitment system has something wrong? One thing they are very good at is staying tight lipped about potential signings until they are finalized, again this is surely good practice? I have full faith in our recruitment system and i'm sure we will see 2,3 or maybe 4 more signings before the window closes. Yes to make all the signings early would have been the ideal scenario but you can hardly blame the recruitment system or new manager for the situation we found ourselves in. In Randy Hairy i trust. He's the manager of the team i support.
Number 6 Posted 28 July 2015 Posted 28 July 2015 Only transfers which improve the first 11 interest me at the moment, and we're not making enough of them.
Albert Posted 28 July 2015 Posted 28 July 2015 Complete non starter! Not interested in him, just paper talk
lgfualol Posted 28 July 2015 Posted 28 July 2015 Complete non starter! Not interested in him, just paper talk Thank the lord.
shiv Posted 30 July 2015 Posted 30 July 2015 Probably more paper talk but mentioned in today's Evening Standard. West Brom favourites but "face competition from Leicester".
NewquayFox Posted 30 July 2015 Posted 30 July 2015 Lambert is a decent striker and would be an asset to most teams outside the top 4/6 in the Premier League but the price tag is ridiculous and I'm sure he just wants to play football, but who is going to fork out that much? Up the City......
Ed25 Posted 30 July 2015 Posted 30 July 2015 I think it is absolutely safe to say we have no interest in Lambert. Saw Sky Bet tweet he is 1/16 to go to West Brom
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 30 July 2015 Posted 30 July 2015 seemed like lazy journalism anyhow. Can see him being a success under Pulis however especially alongside Berahino.

Yes you can find quality for little money, You don't seem to believe that's possible where as I know it is. Look at Mahrez 400 k Sterling to liverpool, Fabregas to Arsenal there's plenty more. My point is there out there you just have to have the scouting network to find them. Sometimes you have to pay that bit extra to snap them up before anyone else. You mention where we have come from and then say if we have the money then why not spend it. If the past thought you anything it's that throwing money at football is not the answer unless you really know what you're doing. Yes we're doing well and on the up. The goal now is to reach the top. You can only do that by continual improvement in the squad. In our case that means enticing the players here as we don't have the profile of success yet. You also say we're in the best position ever, Financially probably true, football wise I can remember when we were top of the old Div 1 in the sixties and playing in FA cup finals and also signing top players. When we get back to that level then I'll know we've arrived. While I accept Lambert could also do a job for us but not as the the price he would cost. I don't see him as the type of player we should be chasing either Quality hungry rising stars is what we should be after. It's immaterial now that Lambert has gone to West Brom.
