Rickie Lambert

@RobTannerMerc: #lcfc interest in Lambert historic. They asked to be kept informed of his situation in January.

That makes sense.

Probably another lazy rumour, but even so I really don't understand the hate.

He scored 28 goals in two season's in the Prem with Southampton. Some players go to big clubs like Liverpool & they just don't fit.

Lambert would be suited to a team like us in my opinion.

No, just no.

Can we not close this thread and start a Paul Pogba or a Iniesta one instead.

It's depressing coming on here seeing Lambet top of the list.

I'd rather go ostrich and convince myself we're in talks with a CM well out of our range.  :)

He seemed quite an intelligent player until he joined Liverpool and virtually disappeared into semi-retirement.

We've probably got more important priorities just now with some fans calling for a defensive monster in midfield.

So aside from Rickie, it's a pity Daniel Lambert's not still around.

Trimmed down to strength and sinew by the dietry specialists, he'd have been a colossus.

We could even have switched him with Kaspar to lie across the goal for late penalties  .

He has the same technical traits like Ulloa, but don't need him as Ulloa is more reliable.

If Ulloa has another mid-season slump, we need a replacement. Lambert would be more than able and push Leo for a starting place.

If its possible we should sign him. We suffered too much in our bad period last season from not having enough options.

Lambert seems like an idiotic target. Why spend in the region of 5 to 6 million for a squad player with no sell on value. Is someone seriously suggesting that we cannot find an up and coming target from the lower leagues to fill the same role for a fraction of the price. or is Claudio looking to get rid of Ulloa. ?

Agree partly with what your saying however we are a Premiership side now, we aren't a championship side!! Our targets have got to be a lot better than a non league player!!

However our club have proved to bring in lads from the lower leagues before yes they are usually youth players but I'm sure if our management team think someone is good enough then we will make a move especially with our scouting system in place.

He should sign for Bournemouth. Then in the summer months he can offer rides on the beach to young kiddies to bolster his 50K a week.

I hear what you are saying but I wasn't talking about non league. Here is the way I see it. We have 5 strikers already. only target man in Ulloa. As were only likely to play one in any game that means the other is warming the bench. Lambert would cost 5 to 6 mil. that's too much for a back up player .

As to finding a back up player. There's a player right now in the Ch, Lg 1, Lg 2 going to break out this season, There always is every year. Wouldn't it be better to bring someone like that in as a backup. Or even a decent proven player in his twilight years. Who would be happy to be in the premiership again even if only for emergencies.

Yes we are a Premiership club but we are presently only finding our way in the Premiership. Were having trouble attracting talented players to us until we build our reputation.

Wouldn't it be better to invest the 5 or 6 mill to entice a proven younger player to join us.

Where are you going to find a proven youngster for 5 or 6 million?

I kinda find it hard to believe people are moaning about us being linked with players rhe quality of Lambert.

We are leicester city one season of survival in the premiership we have not made it to the elite top few yet!

Think where we have come from with the players we had a few years ago and now people are moaning we are being linked with players that play for England.

Get real people, yes we all would live to see us push onto the next level but then so do all the other clubs. Only a few will achieve what they want and players like Lambert would help us achieve our targets I'm sure of it.

Enjoy the ride while it's here. I've supported us for 30 years and the good times like this are few and far between. We are probably in our best position we have every been with the structure and financial position we are in. So worrying about what players cost and there wage bill. That is it for us to worry about if we can afford it then why not?

Our job is to support the manager and the team through the good and bad and trust me we are going through a good time. Enjoy it!

Spending £4.5m on a 33 year old striker won't sit well with most of us when he's no better than what we've got and no resale value.

We already have five strikers who are capable at this level and we don't need a sixth.

What is worrying is it appears we'll be starting with Ulloa & Vardy up front. We've spent £15m on two strikers this year that will probably be reserves and now you tell us not to moan when it could be £20m spent on reserve strikers this year.

If we bring in a striker we either have to sell or he has to be much better than Vardy or Ulloa and walk into the team.

There is no chance we are after Lambert, this seems to be linked from the club looking at him as some sort of quick fix when no one could score.

Someone of Lambert's age and dwindling ability is a free transfer at best and one that is of no use to our club.  We are building not plugging holes hence, Ulloa, Kram, Shinji, Vardy and Nuge.

To be honest he has been crap ever since he won American Idol. We do not need any more strikers and we

certainly do not one of this type and age. I would rather promote Joe Dodoo to the squad.

Posted

His strongest asset is his heading quality and strength.

However Ulloa has both of these and is better on the ball - so Ulloa > Lambert.
