Tuna Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfers-leicester-target-rickie-6137436 Christian Benteke's arrival means Lambert is free to go with West Brom considered as favourites but Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri is keen Leicester have entered the race for Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert. The 33-year-old front man is up for sale following the signing of Christian Benteke from Aston Villa. West Brom were considered hot favourites to sign the England international for around £3.5million. But Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri is also keen to bolster the strike force at a club who staged the Great Escape to avoid relegation from the Premier League. New boss Ranieri is anxious to avoid a repeat and Lambert’s proven record as a striker with Southampton has made him a target for the Italian. Lambert managed two goals in 25 league games for Liverpool where he struggled to secure a regular first team place. Can he play midfield?
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 The only reason I think of to sign him is to deny Quim and Pulis him.
Kitchandro Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 No thanks, can't see what he'd offer what we don't already have.
benpicko Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Great, the Cambiasso replacement we've all been praying for
Matt Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Oh Joy! Another Striker!! That is exactly what we need, a position we are really lacking in!
Tuna Posted 25 July 2015 Author Posted 25 July 2015 TBF it is the mirror, IE probably total bollocks.
RedSoxUK Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Claudio Ranieri is also keen to bolster the strike force* *CITATION NEEDED
Babylon Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Garbage, just like the Slimani link... Not happening ITK.
iamafox Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 How many more strikers will we be linked with before the window closes?
RedSoxUK Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Garbage, just like the Slimani link... Not happening ITK. With Slimani, I could see the link after appearing to go after him before - but Ranieri definitely seems settled on the strikers at the club, the fact KP understands we're not putting in a second bid for Charlie Austin means we don't want or need another striker. It seems quite clear to me, that anyone linking us with a striker should be discredited as a bad source of information as it's quite clearly bullshit.
FoxCal Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 This is beginning to remind me of every FIFA and Football Manager save I had as kid. You know, when you'd get to deadline day of the transfer market with eight strikers in a squad of about nineteen players then scrambled for anybody decent in any other position? Those were the days!
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 It's The Mirror, so almost certainly completely unfounded. As for Lambert, two years ago I'd have loved to have him here but our strikeforce is the only area we don't need to strengthen and apart from being a fantastic penalty taker he wouldn't really give us anything we don't already have
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 If we needed a striker id say yes yes yes. But we can't seriously be on for another striker with amount we have?!
Jace Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Looks like the stadium expansion is really going ahead now they are looking to hire contractors.
